Covers
Few things are radder than a great cover of a great song. Your favorite little-heard covers? I don't mean, like, Crossroads by Cream, everyone knows that one.
Let's Spend The Night Together - David Bowie a lot of Frank Zappa covers (Stairway to Heaven, I Am The Walrus...) The G3 Jams (songs like La Grange, Red House, My Guitar Wants to Kill Your Mama...) Detroit Swing City - Brian Setzer Big Yellow Taxi - Joni Mitchell Stayin' Alive - Ozzy Osbourne and Dweezil Zappa a bunch of Van Halen songs |
A Hard Rain's A-Gonna Fall - Billy Mystic
I think it's actually better than Dylan's original. from Is It Rollin, Bob? |

Jane's Addiction does a great Ripple, and a Sympathy for the Devil Way better than the Stones. The Indigo Girls version of Down by the River is really good, and Tangled up in Blue, and Wild Horses. Blues Traveler does a good No Woman, No Cry, with some help from Ziggy, and their Low Rider is very cool. Tori Amos does a shit-ton of covers, I like I'm on Fire and Landslide the best Warren Haynes does a ton too; One, Stella Blue, To Lay me Down, Madman Across the Water, And it Stoned Me, It hurts Me Too... Dave Matthews - Long Black Veil, All Along the Watchtower GnR - Sympathy for the Devil, Knockin in Heavens Door Grateful Dead - Knockin on..., It's all over now Baby Blue, Desolation Row, Just like Tom Thumb Blues, Quinn the Eskimo... Check him out here.

This is not Dani Harrison...does George have other sons, and why does this guy look so Oriental?
|
Whoops...totally misread the reference. I see that the "Harrison's kid" thing was in reference to the Concert for George video, not the uke. That is, in fact, Dani Harrison. Great concert, if you haven't seen the whole thing. Killer.

RHCP does Fire, Crosstown Traffic, and Castles made of Sand.
Unfortunately, they can't hear Jimi.... :( |
