AN IRISH FRIENDSHIP WISH

Seems like there's been more bad news than good lately around here, so I just wanna wish everyone in the cellar a better spring! Cheesy, I know, but what can I say.

AN IRISH FRIENDSHIP WISH

May there always be work for your hands to do;

May your purse always hold a coin or two;

May the sun always shine on your windowpane;

May a rainbow be certain to follow each rain;

May the hand of a friend always be near you;

May God* fill your heart with gladness to cheer you.

Top o the day to you, O'LabRat.

Now where's the whisky?

Happy St. Patrick's Day to you and all of the other Dwellars.

dar512 03-01-2006 06:57 PM

You must have started drinking early Cap'n. St. Patrick's isn't until the 17th.

tw 03-01-2006 07:18 PM

Did somebody already tap that keg of green beer?

(Don't touch the bread. I'm waiting for it to turn green also.)

capnhowdy 03-01-2006 07:56 PM

My hometown being Savannah, Ga. and my current residence in Dublin, I'd say yes... we start a little early. There's usually some kind of Patty's day thingie going on all month. Reminds me of the Super Bowl.

I'll call it a nano- Mardis Gras.

Yeah, but it's St. David's day today (patron saint of Wales), so it's fine to start drinking now, then spend the next 16 days swimming across the Irish sea.....

Cerdded 03-01-2006 11:11 PM

Right on Monster. Cymru am Byth. Sure and it warms the cockles of me heart,(as our Irish friends say) to see someone else mention St. David's day.

Guess it's about time I said 'Hi' to everyone. Seem like a good bunch of guys and gals.
Johnny :)

Where in Wales were you from originally?

If you have the patience it is right here. Bruichladdich is working on a quadruple distillation. That is 184 proof kiddies... you may just go blind.

Cerdded 03-02-2006 09:56 AM

From Barry, S.Glamorgan Griff.

LabRat 03-02-2006 10:17 AM

X none of the cams are working :sniff:

wolf 03-02-2006 10:23 AM

They're fine for me. I'm watching people browse in the shop. And little wavelets coming in against the shore.

barefoot serpent 03-02-2006 10:36 AM

/me laps at the shore of Bruichladdich

May the horns of your cattle always touch heather.

LabRat 03-02-2006 11:29 AM

Still no. Guess that's a sign to get back to work, eh?

Trilby 03-02-2006 11:39 AM

They don't go for me, either.

I love the horns/heather saying!

Why? What would you do with it? Too strong to drink straight and a mortal sin to dilute. :mg:

capnhowdy 03-02-2006 07:30 PM

Whew! I'm getting a hangover already.

wolf 03-03-2006 12:56 AM

I think you're to put a drop into a lead crystal glass and inhale it gently as it evaporates.

marichiko 03-03-2006 07:29 PM

For some reason, Wolf's reply took me back to my embryology class in college where we had to take pregnant rats and place them in a bell jar along with some cotton batting steeped in ether. The rats would stand on their hind legs and put their paws over the noses in exactly the same gesture as a human being might make. I went down to my advisor's office and switched my emphasis from zoology to botany the very next day...
