What are we playing?

- Metroid Prime (GC)
- Super Mario 64 DS (NDS)

I'm really enjoying Metroid Prime, but I don't get a lot of time at home to play. I have bits of time more often away from home - on the train, waiting for the girls to finish gymnastics etc. So I get a lot more time in on portable gaming. I have the Nintendo DS and would consider putting money on a PSP, if they ever came out with some games that interested me.

The good thing is that I missed the early console era, so all the old Nintendo games are new to me on the NDS.

glatt 02-15-2006 10:37 AM

spider solitaire :)

FallenFairy 02-15-2006 11:06 AM

Soduku - I am addicted

Happy Monkey 02-15-2006 11:35 AM

The Bard's Tale - the recent comedy version, not the classics.
And Sudoku.

ashke 02-15-2006 11:40 AM

World of Warcraft!

No Sudoku for me.

wolf 02-15-2006 01:16 PM

Sudoku. I don't quite get to do one a day, but I will go on spurts where I will do three (hard/fiendish difficulty preferred) while I'm trying to relax enough to go to sleep. Apparently I have to have a certain minimum number of neurons fire before I get tired.

God of War lately on the PS2, although I hosed another Dualshock controller, so I have to go to the store. I have been told that the problem is from kinking the cord, so a wireless setup might be necessary. I have to unearth my GameBoy Advance ... I don't play with it often enough.

SteveDallas 02-15-2006 01:43 PM

Sudoku and online poker.

I gave Second Life a shot, but it didn't do much for me. I went as far as renting some land and buying a house. If anybody does SL PM me & I'll give you the house if you want it!

SouthOfNoNorth 02-28-2006 08:38 AM

two games, currently: god of war, which is downright amazing. i just made it to the last room in pandora's temple.....i love gratuitious violence. and.........

might and magic III, because i'm fast becoming a retro geek. my friend had this game in high school and i always wanted to play it, but at that time i had no computer. i found the torrent for this and a huge collection of other old games. i'm a role playing game dork. i think i may even work my way through the series (I to IX!).

mrnoodle 02-28-2006 09:47 AM

WoW. I want to try Eve Online, but I'm currently addicted to getting to Blackwing Lair in warcraft.

Happy Monkey 02-28-2006 10:30 AM

I finished the Bard's Tale - Fun endings.
Started Quake 4. Eh, more of the same FPS stuff. Well done, but nothing new so far.

Awaiting Oblivion... The game, not the "Final Choices" fodder.

mrnoodle 03-08-2006 09:57 AM

Someone solved sudoku. All of em.

wolf 03-08-2006 11:27 AM

Awesome. I can stop doing them now.

Happy Monkey 03-08-2006 02:14 PM

Not until you do the one on that page.

Just beat Zelda - Majora's mask again.

Pogo.com has a daily on-line sudoku.

SteveDallas 03-18-2006 03:36 PM

I'm playing Animal Crossing: Wild World on my new DS. It's quite addictive... I didn't expect to get into it this much.

cowhead 03-23-2006 11:11 PM

anyone here looked into anarchy online? it's free to play unless you want to play the expansion packs (which, yeah eventually I will have to do). I was just curious if anyone had any thoughts on the game. ( I recall when it came out, but I didn't really start getting into mmporpgs unitl late.. also any thoughts on the online D&D game?)

Happy Monkey 03-24-2006 07:50 AM

Just got Oblivion!

(is there a Snoopy dance smily? This'll have to do.):celebrat:

SteveDallas 03-24-2006 07:59 AM

I got Tetris DS. I've really been impressed by the way they've done the WiFi setup for the DS games. Though I admit I'm not as good at the heads-up competition as I am at just grinding out the blocks in the solo version.

Guyute 03-28-2006 09:09 PM

Days Of Defeat. Went wild on Half-life 2 Deathmatch until I started waking up my family laughing at throwing toilets, buckets, and filing cabinets at people with my gravity gun.

I also play a HL2 mod called Battlegrounds 2. Based in the American Revolutionary War; awesome mod- you play with period-era muskets...

I'm always playing DoD. At least I was until about a month ago when I picked up Call of Duty, so now I spend my time between the two games.

I'll have to look for Battlegrounds. It sounds interesting.

BTW, I've been playing the PC version of King Kong. I finally made it %25 through the game and got to play as Kong. A lot of fun.

Guyute 04-02-2006 09:13 PM

Richlevy: go to http://www.fileshack.com/browse.x?cat=2594 or http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Half-Life_2_mods

Where I find most of my HL 1 and 2 mods. Goldeneye Source was awesome, but after the last upgrade I couldn't get the mod to work ...

King Kong looks fun, but I have a 3-yr-old comp, and when I dwnld'd the demo it was all messed up- wouldn't use the mouse. I loved CoD- I am seriously tempted to buy it- still any active servers out there?

SouthOfNoNorth 04-05-2006 11:54 AM

my friend showed me katamari demacy over the weekend.

between the incredibly simple but oddly fascinating gameplay and the absolutely strange and catchy music, it's one of the most addictive games i've come across in a while.

Happy Monkey 04-05-2006 12:08 PM

Oblivion kicks ass. I've been playing for hours and hours, and have only visited one city so far, and I've barely started on the main quest.

I love Elder Scrolls games.

SteveBsjb 04-05-2006 12:08 PM

I'm buying the entire Xbox 360 package when I get my tax return. I want the headset, wireless controllers, 2 or 3 cool games, all the extras. Can't wait!

I can personally vouch for the soundtrack as a good investment.

SouthOfNoNorth 04-06-2006 08:10 AM

is this the one you mean?

http://www.cdjapan.co.jp/detailview.html?KEY=COCX-32760

if so, it's on my order list as of today. i have visions of driving around while this music melts my brain. :) know another/better site to get it from?

Kitsune 04-06-2006 12:52 PM

Blame Ridgeplate if you start playing this and end up wasting large amounts of time. Go on, try clicking on things in Hapland 3.

What? You missed out? Well, you should try one and two.

That's the one! It's so catchy, it's painful.

And no, I don't know a better place to get it, I think I got mine from an import dealer somewhere too, though I can't remember.

dar512 07-09-2009 08:23 PM

Jeanne D'Arc for the PSP. It's sort of based on Joan of Arc but it has ogres and demons, too. I always did think the JoA story could use a few demons.

It's a Strategy RPG. I normally have trouble picking these up, but this one is easy to get started with. I'm really liking this, so far.

DanaC 07-10-2009 07:07 AM

World of Warcraft. It's bloody marvellous.

wolf 07-10-2009 01:45 PM

I am so lame ... I've gotten hooked on the racing games on Shockwave.

Gone over to the darkside, have you?

Happy Monkey 07-10-2009 01:57 PM

I've been playing Falout 3 for a few hours on weekends for months. I'm on the latest add-on pack, at long last. I've been to all of the labeled areas on the map, but I'm sure there are plenty of subway stops I haven't been to yet.

I'm a big Bethesda Softworks fan. I just wish I didn't get so many crashes.

I've only had Oblivion crash-to-desktop one time.

I never could get 1680x1050 resolution to run in SLI mode, but that may be an inadequate power supply problem.

I dunno...ask my level 30 undead warlock... *blinks*

Tulip 07-10-2009 11:54 PM

Why do people like to play Soduku? I really don't care to play it. Maybe I just don't like to think...ha! :p Anyways, what games are good for a 5 yr. old? I bought a Nintendo DS lite for my nephew, and it came with Brain Age. He loves to make me do the computations and achieve train speed on it. I now can add and multiply very quickly. :D

dar512 07-13-2009 01:49 PM

5 is a bit young. Maybe Animal Crossing?

I just turned off anti-aliasing. Wow, much more stable.

Yeah, that'll kill ya. It only has on/off, or you just turned down the samples? And, Fallout doesn't have HDR lighting as an option?

Happy Monkey 07-13-2009 02:37 PM

I haven't tried an intermediate level. Maybe I could get away with AA two instead of four.

I don't remember what my HDR setting is.
