May 3, 2011: White House situation room during bin Laden raid
http://cellar.org/2011/whitehouseosamaraid.jpg
And so they watched the raid unfold, live video being shot by a camera affixed to a Navy SEAL's helmet on the other side of the earth. It's said they witnessed the killing shot. For or against the administration, it's a great image; can you not imagine yourself in there, directly watching history unfold, hoping for the best outcome? Or would you be the overflow crowd in the hall, not having the rank to be in the situation room but desperately hoping to catch a glimpse? |
The General is the only one working. Or maybe he's posting on the Cellar. Everyone else is watching.

1. They blurred out the confidential document in the foreground.
2. Even the disposable plastic cups have presidential seals. |
Not to keep responding to myself, but it always amazes me how small the White House is. That's an extremely cramped room.
|
I think Clinton's document is probably a better-res version of this:

What's Robert Downey Jr. doing there?
|
Isn't someone going to photoshop the little girl from the royal wedding in there?
|
Or disaster man? Speaking of which, a number of faces, Obama's included, look added later.
|
Shhh. That is for operational security. He led Seal Team 6 personally.
|
It's funny to me that they use the exact same shitty plastic HP brand laptop that I've got on my desk at work. You'd think they'd have something a little better. lol.
|
I'm sure it's a special 'police package' with bored-out cylinders and turbochargers and gas shocks and shit.
|
That shot really puts you there. That's Merc's elbow behind Hillary. He isn't allowed to say so though.
|
I reckon if Merc was that close to Hillary, at that moment when everyone was totally focused on the events on screen ...
|
I love that we get to see that.
That's a picture that will still be looked at a century from now. Clever too. Hard to imagine a more dynamic view of the President. Beats the shit out of a helmet and a fighter plane. |
I keep coming back to this picture. It is sure to be lasting.
|
There was a great bit on Colbert the other night. First, he pointed out that Obama had officially ordered the raid several days before it happened. In fact, the order preceded the release of his birth certificate, as if he were smirking, "Okay guys, fine, here's the long form certificate, I'm sure this is gonna be the top news for weeks and weeks..." Secondly, the annual White House Press Corps dinner also happened in the interim, during which Obama was videotaped laughing long and hard in response to a joke about bin Laden's whereabouts.
|
I can't believe no one has photoshopped something onto those computer screens.
But what? Teh Cellar? Hard core porn? Solitaire? Two girls one cup? I now... a Rickroll! |

I read (oh crap...I read it. I don't know if it's true. I read it. I don't know. Don't beat me) that Hillary said later she was actually stifling a cough.
Ruined my perception of her 'reaction.' |
That is because this is either a) a staged photo or b) some random photo that is put out by the White house Dept of Lies and Deception, I mean PR.

Obama only did this because he needed a ps2 fix, and real life was best substitute he could get..

That's probably why the brass is busy on the computer. |

Huh? No, he was playing Call of Duty! Or was it Grand Theft Auto? |
Angry Birds...

This live-feed business really forces leaders to confront the reality of what they've ordered. It seems like a good trend.
|
Take it further. Once a day, maybe while he is exercising, the prez watches a headcam feed from some randomly chosen grunt. Might be in a firefight in Fubaristan, might be standing sentry duty on a road block on a god-awful hot day outside Kabul.
"What's that?! ... okay, regular car ... What's that? ... supply truck, let it through ... " Just to keep him in touch. |
Not a bad idea. Fubaristan is a suck-ass assignment btw.
|
Good idea, he could use the same system to get a glimpse into the lives of some of America's "rich" small business owners.

I saw that in the paper this morning! I was amazed.
They have since apologized, and apparently, if they could do it again, they simply wouldn't run the picture. |
The paper bag with red and white stripes, is a "burn bag" for destroying sensitive documents.
|
I read a statement from that paper to the effect that they don't show pictures of women because viewers will be distracted by their beauty and this detracts from our respect for their abilities and talents and makes us regard them as bimbos.
I gotta tell those guys, whatever else you may say about her, Hillary did not get where she is on account of her looks. |
|
Not bad, I must admit, but I doubt either of us were born then.
|
The paper in question from post #31 publishes pictures of these women. How is that the modesty of these women is not worthy of the same respect?
eta: further exploration of the photos from their site revealed numerous pictures of women, some dressed similarly to the ones shopped out of the WH photo. Some are mentioned by name, some are even shown with the President. I think the excuse about the modesty of women is bullshit. It is categorically false that they do not publish pictures of women. For some reason this story really pisses me off. |

Here's the oppo-shop!
|
That's very funny.
I thought about something like that. Attributed to a feminist type site/mag/paper, but I was too lazy to do it. |
I sure didn't think of it!
I like how it's not even done very well. Adds to the funneh. Made me lol! |
equal discrimination...
oh so pc.. lol. |
Ok probably been said before BUT,
of the dudes stood up, left to right from our perspective. 1) Khaki shirt with collar silver things dude 2) Blue shirt arms crossed dude (no tie - no respect) 3) old bald dude in a suit - but you wouldn't mess would you? 4) Old David Scwimmer - now is it me or is he photoshopped in? |
dunno - I only see the two women :)
|
Did anyone notice that there's a black guy in the photo?
