FU*K!

I just wrecked my car.

SUCKS!
:bitching:

Oh, did I mention that I got a new car a few weeks ago? Yeah...:bawling:

LabRat 11-16-2006 04:18 PM

You have my sympathy, this totally stinks. Sorry to hear, hope you are OK though!!

Hoof Hearted 11-16-2006 04:21 PM

Sorry to hear, but glad that you ARE here and able to post about it instead of floating above us, getting used to your wings, halo, harp and all....
Details, and we'll groan along with you...
hh

Pie 11-16-2006 04:28 PM

Well, at least LJ can hook you up with a replacement?
Glad you're okay, though.

SeleneRati 11-16-2006 04:30 PM

Jinx,

Sorry to hear that. What happened?

jinx 11-16-2006 04:59 PM

Thanks guys. We're all fine, it could have been much worse... I don't think the car is too fucked up, I drove it [slowly] home.

We're having some severe weather, very windy, raining its nuts off etc.. I hit a log/tree down in the road and drove over it... lost a wheel well and all the trim. Not sure what else, its raining too hard.

Just sucks.
It was all shiny and new...

fargon 11-16-2006 06:07 PM

I'm sorry Jinx. At least you are not hurt, you can have my convertible if you want.

Clodfobble 11-16-2006 06:08 PM

That sucks. Glad you and the kids are okay!

lumberjim 11-16-2006 06:10 PM

It's because you washed and vacuumed it yesterday, you know.

Griff 11-16-2006 06:37 PM

Crap! Yeah it prolly was the cleanin'. You're just lucky you didn't wax it. Glad everyone is ok. g

Sorry to hear you were in an accident - hope you are ok.

But, as it is my job to find humor in the suffering of others, I couldn't help but notice what may or may not have been a coincidence...

lookout123 11-16-2006 09:21 PM

that's funny beestie.

sorry to hear about the car, but glad you and the little ones are ok.

lumberjim 11-16-2006 10:17 PM

this is a before shot. the pass side fender flare got ripped off, and the wheel well......well, it's in the flower bed at the moment. it was too dark to tell if there's any mechanical damage.
http://pic20.picturetrail.com/VOL162.../205552021.jpg

xoxoxoBruce 11-16-2006 10:27 PM

Bah, it's a Jeep...just chainsaw off anything that's loose and flappy, then forge ahead. Oh, and wear camo makeup. You'll win lots of points with the kids and their peers.

Glad nobody's any worse for wear. :thumb2:

wolf 11-17-2006 12:51 AM

Sorry to hear about this Jinx, but glad that the only damage was to the vehicle.

LabRat 11-17-2006 09:50 AM

I am also very glad to hear everyone's OK. Whew. I must say, that is a sexy Jeep.

barefoot serpent 11-17-2006 09:59 AM

oh well... now you can take it offroading and not worry about the inevitable dings!

Trilby 11-17-2006 10:54 AM

Oh, Jinx! So sorry about your cool Jeep. It doesn't sound too, too bad--I was expecting you to say it had been total-ed. It's been said many times, but, you know it's true: No one got hurt. Thank the goddess.

Spexxvet 11-17-2006 10:59 AM

Glad you're not hurt. Could LJ take it to work and switch it for one that's not messed up?

wolf 11-17-2006 12:52 PM

Nah. LJ won't own one of those Japanese pieces of crap that he sells. Er ... arranges financing for.

Sundae 11-17-2006 01:45 PM

Didn't read the thread earlier as couldn't be sure who was looking over my shoulder.

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOoooooooooooooooooooo - what a gorgeous Jeep. I've wanted one ever since a very County Laydee pulled my ex's Porsche out of a snowdrift in hers. When my boat comes in, eh?

Are you sure you're okay? Not to be the voice of doom or anything, but get your neck checked out just in case - problems from even minor accidents can come back to bite you years later.

You must be gutted anyway. Well, karma says you've just cancelled out all of LJ's sins from the last 2 months. I know - it told me.

skysidhe 11-17-2006 03:02 PM

 I am glad to know everyone is ok.

SteveDallas 11-17-2006 03:09 PM

I'm glad everyone is OK... that weather was bad! I swerved around a recycling container on West Chester Pike last night on the way out to our show, and was lucky I didn't have an accident. But the visibility was so bad I didn't see it till I was on top of it.

rkzenrage 11-17-2006 06:21 PM

Sorry about the Jeep, but very glad you are not hurt. I hope your deductible was low.

sproglet 11-17-2006 06:36 PM

Maybe you shouldn't drive such a big stupid car?

Bigger car, bigger target?

EDIT: Are you a drug dealer? Got any decent puff?

maybe i'd be visiting her in the hospital if she was driving a Prius. Maybe the Parents of the kids in the schoolbus full of kids that was comng the other way would too. also, go fuck yourself.

You've just reinforced my perceived attitude of every JEEP driver in the world.

You could not even begin to know how smug that has made me feel, thanks again :-)

sproglet 11-17-2006 07:14 PM

I mean that most sincerely BTW

Not only are these disgusting heaps killing pedestrians and other road users, they're also raping the planet up the arse.

Think on people.

Iggy 11-17-2006 07:26 PM

What bad experience have you had with Jeep sproglet?

And I am so sorry to hear about the wreck. I hope everything works out well for you Jinx. Glad you're ok.

lumberjim 11-17-2006 07:39 PM

the go fuck yourself was in response to your calling her a drug dealer. and i meant it most sincerely, cock. you can be as smug as you like. the fact of the matter is that the disgusting heap was massive enough to roll over and destroy a downed tree in the road without being shunted into oncoming traffic. call me socially iresponsible. and then go fuck yourself.

skysidhe 11-17-2006 08:45 PM

Lots of bad weather. Lots of rain, floods downed trees this fall. A good reason to feel thankful this thanksgiving.

Tonight is foggy and dry. I am really feeling the spirit of the holidays already. There is another storm system comming through. It's good to hope everyone is keeping safe on the roads.:driving:

Elspode 11-17-2006 08:49 PM

Jinx, I'm awful glad you and the kids are alright.

sproglet...when did you become a pompous fuckwad? Consume feces and expire, you self-righteous twit.

SUV hater? or just SUV envy. mine isn't a cool jeep like jinx's but i'm damn happy driving my toy through the mountains, desert, over haters, wherever, really.

this is my toy btw. ok not mine exactly, but it looks exactly the same as mine.

lumberjim 11-17-2006 09:25 PM

loooooove the fj. v. cool. l123. that thing's got eyeball. silver?! oh man, you could have had that cool blue or the yellow? still. cool ride. +1 point for you.

lookout123 11-17-2006 09:29 PM

i only buy silver or white. living in the desert, you know. i didn't like the yellow at all, but the blue is sweet. but i drive my vehicles into the ground and i figured the eyepopping blue would get old pretty quick. a real bugger to keep clean.

footfootfoot 11-17-2006 09:29 PM

Jinx,
for what it's worth, there is an astoundingly talented cook in these parts who told me a story about his "walkabout" when he was younger he left his dad's restaurant and travelled around the country picking up cooking knowledge from chefs across the US. At one place the chef was interviewing himand asked him if he had ever burnt a sheet pan of bacon. (In some restaurants they put all the bacon on a sheetpan and cook it in the oven-- several pounds at a time) he admitted he had. The chef hired him on the spot figuring anyone who hadn't (eventually) burnt a whole sheet pan of bacon had been cooking long enough.

Your safe and sound, this is your sheet pan of bacon.

And as my teacher used to tell me:
You don't know how fast you can corner till you wipe out.

AS I'm sure you've heard, it's just a car.
A really expensive car, but just a car.

oh, and can you spare some puff?

(what is puff?)

lookout123 11-17-2006 09:32 PM

my guess is that "puff" is what some brit who hates any vehicle bigger than a unicycle calls weed.

Great.

If that's the way you like to express your status in society then there's probably nothing anyone can say to change your mind. Personally I drive a car that takes up a little less room on the roads, doesn't pollute so much and is statistically less likely to be involve in a fatal road accident.

I suppose in the States, you have the room, disposable income and attitude to run a car like that. But when I see pictures of freeways nose-to-tail with these things it just looks ridiculous.

My father recently bought a Jeep Grand Cherokee, the reasoning behind it was to pull his large caravan on holiday. Fair point, but he can hardly drive the damned thing because it's so bloody big and his neighbours get pissed off when he parks it outside his house and blocks access. I of course started giving him a bit of grief over his poor taste in vehicles, citing the environmental impact involved in shipping 2 1/2 tons of pig iron across the Atlantic and the 8 mpg fuel economy, his scathing retort was 'well at least it isn't French'.

Horses for courses innit. Urban 4x4 (SUV's) are the becoming the bane of UK city life, I'm with Ken Livingstone (mayor of London) who recently went public by decrying them as a public nuisance and finding it hard to justify why anyone should own one in London. Fair enough if you're a Tibetan Yak herder, but I don't know of many primary schools halfway up a mountain in the UK.

My democratic opinion tells me that you are a self-righteous, opinionated, Eurotrash asshole who thinks buying a car that costs the equivalent of three loaves of bread and a pint of Boddington's because that's all your sorry ass can afford gives you the right to bust ass on everyone who's lot in life is better than yours.

You might think you are better than everyone who has a nicer car, better looking wife and a better looking life than you but what you really are is a stupid, jealous, insecure nancy boy who has carefully crafted a self-reinforcing delusion to cushion yourself against the reality that you drive a crumpled-up wad of French tin foil not because you have a duty to the planet but because you are a sorry-ass loser in every sense of the word and you simply cannot come to grips with it.

Oh, yeah, good luck in the election. Nice car. Dude. -ette.

sproglet 11-18-2006 06:24 AM

How much I earn is irrelevent, but for the record (and seeing as this is the benchmark by which most Americans seem to judge people) I have a very well paid job, have no debts (apart froma small mortgage) and I am quite financially secure.

Using terms like 'nicer car' is totally subjective and I can see debating the subject with close-minded bigots is pointless and will just degrade into a slanging match.

I'll leave you all to pat yourselves on your respective backs.

Enjoy your SUVs while you can :-)

Undertoad 11-18-2006 06:48 AM

That's how you burn someone right out of the thread, well done b!

Ibby 11-18-2006 09:35 AM

Jeeps and other SUV's are too big, gawky, and annoying... FOR LONDON. Most New Yorkers probably think the same. We have an SUV and have problems with it here in Taipei, because this city just isnt set up for big cars.
That's okay, cause when the rockets start flying and the shells start hitting, who're gonna be the ones getting the fuck out with 4WD and who're gonna be the ones puttering around in cars they could probably get out and carry?

I don't like SUVs a whole lot, but I dont dislike them any more than any other car, either. I'd personally scrap 'em all for a Microbus.

skysidhe 11-18-2006 10:28 AM

Jinx,
I am sure everyone knows you use your jeep as a workhorse so give the thread turkey no more thought.

My partner owns a Jeep. There resale value is good and you can sure pack them up when you live in areas with lots of outside activites like it appears you do.

Who the fuk cares what you drive. The important thing is that you are ok.

lookout123 11-18-2006 11:58 AM

here's the thing. a lot of folks buy the biggest SUV they can find because they have little bitty peckers, even thought they will never leave the road. oh well, that's their choice.

some of us use our trucks and SUVS to haul people comfortably, haul items that just wouldn't fit in the back of a camry, tow things like jet skis, boats, campers, and *gasp* some even dare to drive off road! i know it is horrible to imagine, but some of us really enjoy being able to take our vehicles to places that are off the beaten path without worrying about damaging the vehicle (or the environment). and BTW what vehicle only gets 8 mpg? fucking idiot.

NSFW or anywhere else. This could be offensive to just about everyone. But it's at least partially appropriate here.

A good way to spend about 25 minutes.

I love threads like this.

And yes, I have overstated my NSFW warning, there's no nudity or porn, but I wouldn't want to offend anyone! :D

So you're psychic? You *know* that Jinx and LJ drive a Jeep for status? Despite the fact that you've been shown pictures demonstrating that they are outdoors people, with children, who use a four wheel drive for carrying camping gear, recreational gear and family. You should be playing the stock market with insight like that. Twit. Yes, I am calling petty names. I virtually never do this directly to someone, but in your case I'll make an exception.

*This* statement I have no trouble with. State your position with out berating someone else. Perfectly reasonable.

now tell me you really are proud of and stand by the bullsh*t you'll posted here.

zippyt 11-18-2006 08:16 PM

JayMcGee 11-18-2006 08:28 PM

lookout123 11-18-2006 08:31 PM

hey, Jay? i stand by every word i wrote.

Trilby 11-19-2006 08:23 AM

Oh, yes. The self-righteous Brit--he's NOT just a myth!

Jay, you, sproglet, buddug and that complete piece of eurotrash-hipp are, without doubt, the most prejudiced, self-satisfied, smug, wankers here. What's the matter? You all have those low-class accents that automatically make you sub-human in your own country so you come here to express all your outrage at your social impotency at home? Dump on people because you get treated like shiite? You all a bunch of alienated losers? Hmm? Because that is what it sounds like--all you four DO is bash Americans-individually and collectively and it is getting very, very boring. You four aren't so much humans as you are slogans. Whenever I see one of your names on a thread I already know what's been said without even reading it. If you one-trick ponies could come up with something MORE than just, "I hate you! You're stupid!" you might, just might, learn something.

If you're capable of learning.

But the question here, in this thread, is how on earth can sprog get all up in arms over what LJ and jinx drive when the bigger drain of assets and money and resources is the fucking Monarchy? Oh,yes. I know. The Monarchy get's spog's nuts in an uproar, right? Well, then. completely worth it, eh? I guess it takes that much to get old sprog excited. You hypocrites. Take the beam out of your own eye. Wankers.

xoxoxoBruce 11-19-2006 09:04 AM

It's all Jinx's fault. If she had been driving an LAV or M-1 Abrams, it wouldn't be an issue. Time to trade up.:thumb2:
