Mmm. Radiohead.
Radiohead. What genius.
who else likes em'? |
ugh.
there are 2 types of people in this world. those that love radiohead passionately and those that despise radiohead venomously. my wife loves radiohead. i think shes insane. :) ~james |
Count me pro.

i suspect im in the minority. but then, i think the crash test dummies were one of the finest bands of the 90's, so what do i know?

I love Radiohead. I would say my favorite album is still The Bends.

Now, you go too far.

I think Radiohead make some fabulous music, but I'm not going to be like the critic types and jizz my pants over them. I thought Amnesiac was pure genius.

Those who love Radiohead ... Hey, you gonna pass that blunt? Mmm, cheeze doodles. Anyone want some Tortillas with Magic Shell? Play Track 1 again. Now watch what happens when you start this Sailor Moon video at the same time. What ever happened to that one guy who used to play in that other band? I think Radiohead should do a record with The Clash They're all dead, dumbass. Oh yeah. Pass that thing around again. -sm |
I've not heard enough Radiohead to form an opinion on their music as a collective whole, but I like the vast majority (if not entirety) of what I have heard. Maybe I'll get around to snagging some off of iTMS or whatever it's called. This "P2P" thing has taken too much effort since Napster died.

I like Radiohead, but I wouldn't say they're genius. They're very good, no doubt - but comparing them to real musical geniuses, such as Bowie, Bach, Reznor... I don't think they're really even in the ballpark.
But don't get me wrong! I like Radiohead a lot. I'm going to be trendy and say that OK Computer is still my favorite, but I haven't listened to Kid A much and Amnesiac at all (whereas OK Computer and the previous two have received extensive play on my personal systems). I'm going to go against the grain and say that no one over the age of, say, 25 finds Radiohead to be pure, unbridled genius. I've met a lot of people who grow out of them, and I suspect the same will happen with you. I doubt they'll have the same impact on you in ten years, and while you'll probably think they're still very good, I doubt you'll be saying the same things about them. |
They whine too much to be considered music. Oh yea -- and their instruments always sound out of tune.
I think if you like the Cure, you like Radiohead. |

Let me clarify my initial post...
I didn't really get into Radiohead until after The Bends came out (early '95). I personally think Amnesiac is their best record...the songs are fantastic. Now, are they the greatest thing since sliced bread? Nah. I don't drool over them like the critics do...I don't think I've seen a band get such critical praise since REM. It's almost scary. But I would say that Radiohead are one of the best bands to come out in the past 25 years. Seeing Dave's post made me think of something that parallels what he said. I used to think Trent Reznor was the greatest thing ever...I would listen to Broken so much during high school that it bordered ridiculous. I still like NIN...love 'em...but not like I did then (10 years ago). |
Radiohead's new album, Hail to the Thief, comes out June 10th. The same day as new releases by Metallica and Dave Gahan.
Sweet! |
