He did the case, the new bridge humbucker pickup and 500k volume pot for $120. Plus he set the guitar up nicely for free. I'm chuffed. He has another one....

Like the stripes on the Tele-type.

I've watched so many videos of guitar builds that I'm getting a strong itch to attempt it.

But my garage was set up to work on the motorcycle.... It's really very crowded.

I spent a few days reorganizing

No good work space though.

Amanda suggested that I build a work bench. Today I cleared a spot

And threw a bench together

Are you going to put locking swivel casters on it?

Undertoad 11-04-2018 08:55 PM

Oh man are you gonna do the neck yourself or buy one pre-fretted and all that deal

Undertoad 11-04-2018 08:56 PM

This dude is an old high school friend of mine - I hope one day to afford one of his basses. I helped him with his first custom pickguard back in the day

I'm gonna try the whole deal. I ordered some thick poplar to practice making the body with. I have 2 pieces of sepele to make necks with. Not thick enough to do a tilt back head stock, but I can get a strat type flat neck, I think. And I have some wenge for the fret board. Not sure if that's long enough. I'm going to a specialty lumber yard on weds to pick up that poplar, so I'll see if he has anything I can use there.

I'm all geeked out over it. Like I do.

Once I know what I'm doing, maybe we could make you one.

No... I'm considering mounting that light switch into the back board.

lumberjim 11-04-2018 11:14 PM

Oh, also! I got a new car. "for my son"

The vw had to go. Amanda thinks it's ugly. https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...a72d7382f4.jpg

I think it's cool. Looks like a Sleestac.

I'm with Amanda, it doesn't help that it's avocado. :frog:

Awesome. I have a high school buddy who's been dabbling. It looks like good fun.

Gravdigr 11-05-2018 02:45 PM

About the car...Listen to Amanda.

It's cool to get excited about something. I don't remember the last thing I was genuinely excited about.

Probably something that disappointed me.

About the guitar build:

Pictures.
