She'd had sponge baths, but that was her first one immersed in water in the tub. We were told not to immerse her in water until her umbilical cord stump had fallen off, and it took foreeeeever.
|
Bean is just too adorable for words. I'm so glad you share her pics here, Choclatl.
|
She's awesome!
|
Thanks, everyone! I am one proud mama. :)
|
She's so beautiful! Thanks for sharing your pics. :)

Choco, that's interesting about the umbilical cord. Over here it's recommended to wash the baby thoroughly (umbilical cord stump and all) from about the 2nd or 3rd day. Max's cord took a fair while to come off. Eva's was off within a couple of days. Not sure why it was so quick, but I'm thinking maybe because she was full term and it was time? Who knows. In any case, I was happy. Those things are ugly! lol
|
OK we can stop talking about that now.
|
I was 7 when my brother was born. I helped to care for him every day. A few days after his stump fell off, I asked my mom when the "other extra piece" would fall off.
"What extra piece?" she asked. "The wrinkled baggie behind his peepee!" My parents had a good laugh over my rudimentary knowledge of human anatomy. |
haha...that's a funny one. Good way to keep the current topic going for foots sake. ;)
|
At least it is slowly shifting over to genitalia.
|
Hmmm...of children. lol
|
How about poop?

My boys. At some point, he let his lil brother drive the cart. Apparently reaction time is near nil... or so the visit into the tree says. :3_eyes:
|
Handsome lads.
|
Hope the tree, cart, and boys all survived the encounter unscathed, classic!
Video from tonight. Dark, but what you really need is the sound on, anyway. |
OMG ... so adorable. I remember doing that with my kids.
Cherish every moment. <3 Yeh all survived the cart/golfing... or so I was told. |
That is hilarious. I didn't know you could assist in that.
|
New favorite passtime: Beans has figured out that she can toss Cheerios over the side of her high chair to feed the dog.
|
...just every kid's way of learning the Laws of Gravity and of Cause and Effect
|
With a bit of Pavlovian training thrown in!
|
She's so adorable!
|
We had q bbq lunch on saturday and eva kept feeding her stuff to the dogs. They were all happy. It was funny.

I was about to say, "My, how Kitsune has changed over the years..." :)
Your brother's hair is surprising (I mean the texture, of course the color is by choice.) What heritage produced that, if you don't mind my asking? |

Ha! Here's one of Beans with Kitsune.
Attachment 44342 Our heritage is half Cuban, half Filipino. My dad is Cuban, but he is very fair, with fine blond hair and blue eyes. My brother and I both take after my mom, with her coarse, black hair and brown eyes. Attachment 44344 My brother's hair is coarser than mine and holds a curl pretty well. Attachment 44343 |
all those baby pictures/videos are adorable!!!
Chocolat: regarding your bro's pic with the toy soldiers in his hair....hilarious! |
I had a friend in high school with hair like your brother's. One day at school, he got the idea to hide a pencil in his hair. He would be talking to someone, and snap his head forward, and the pencil would come shooting out right into their chest. It was pretty funny. I loved that physics class. That teacher let us goof around a lot after the lab work was done.
|
Wow, what a happy family!
|
Choco, I have to admit I was wondering about your racial heritage but was worried it was crass to ask. We don't have quite the same melting pot as the US and so (some of us Brits) still worry.
But it is something that fascinates me. I find the same beauty in combined accents. Like Bjork's East London accent. The photo of the three generations of females in your family is absolutely gorgeous. |
Thanks, all!
Sundae -- I always find it amusing when people ask me "where I'm from." I generally have to ask if they want the short answer or the long answer (which includes family heritage and the five cities I've lived in). I've never met anyone who was offended by being asked about their heritage, but it can be aggravating when people either assume or try to correct me. (Yes, I'm SURE I'm not from Peru. I think I'd know.) |

Did a big photoshoot of my grandchildren yesterday. Mom and dad wanted a group shot with everyone dressed up for this year's Christmas card but then we did casual shots. I turned their family room into a photo studio and shot for a couple of hours.
I always let kids be kids when they are having portraits taken and let them do silly poses if they will help me get good poses as well. |
Those girls got some intense peepers!

My oldest son at the start of his most recent century ride (the Backroads Century in the Shenandoah Valley). In the second photo he's third from the right, coasting in to a rest stop at Mile 64. This was his second Century ride and he warmed up the first 66 miles, then tackled the hills in the last 35. I can't even imagine riding 100 miles ...

Emily is almost 5 now and is quite the ham in front of a camera. She came up with this hands on her hips pose that she does for me all the time. As shown here: |
Haha...shes a super model!

Wait, Ali!
Someone has stolen our babies and replaced them with men and a little boy and a toddler! Was it a dingo?! Thanks for the updates :) Choc, very cute. That combination of dark hair & blue eyes is killer. |
Love the picture with the kangaroo, Ali.
