Capt. Beefheart?

Flint 08-02-2006 10:18 AM

Good guess, but no.

Spexxvet 08-02-2006 11:04 AM

Gerry Garcia?

Flint 08-02-2006 11:13 AM

Ummm...you're getting colder?

Was is John Smothers, the bodyguard? I may be mistaken, but I think I recall hearing Frank thank him for his 'contributions to the english language'.

Flint 08-02-2006 11:25 AM

No.

Flint 08-02-2006 11:43 AM

Steve Vai and Captain Beefheart were good guesses.

(Of course, I already said that) . . . but why . . . ???

EDIT: Because they . . . :stickpoke . . . what . . . ???

Ibby 08-02-2006 12:24 PM

Cause they regularly played with Zappa?

Was it Bo-zee-oh?

Flint 08-02-2006 12:57 PM

Yep. Collaiuta played drums on Joe's Garage, but Bozzio was the voice of Bald-Headed John. He confirmed that, in person, at a Guitar Center clinic I went to.

Trilby 08-02-2006 01:02 PM

you guys are being too obscure.

Flint 08-02-2006 01:06 PM

Apparently not, as we've managed to answer the questions.

Ibby 08-02-2006 01:20 PM

What was the first band to release the song entitled Moonage Daydream?

Flint 08-02-2006 01:37 PM

Ziggy Stardust & The Spiders From Mars?

Ibby 08-02-2006 01:38 PM

Incorrect, suprisingly.

Flint 08-02-2006 01:40 PM

errr...David Bowie ???

Shawnee123 08-02-2006 01:45 PM

The Moody Blues?

Ibby 08-02-2006 02:16 PM

Keep trying...

Flint 08-02-2006 02:18 PM

Syd Barrett-era Pink Floyd?

Ibby 08-02-2006 02:22 PM

Sounds like it, but no

This one's too obscure, I'll have to think of a new one...
The answer to the question is Arnold Corns, who recorded the song before the Spiders from Mars had even formed. The singer? One Arnold Corns, AKA David Jones... Later known as David Bowie.

The album sleeves for The Wall by Pink Floyd do not match the album. Name two differences between the album and the sleeves..

My new question: The album sleeves for The Wall by Pink Floyd do not match the album. Name two differences between the album and the sleeves.

glatt 08-02-2006 02:54 PM

Umm, the album is mostly white (with a brick pattern) and the sleeves are mostly black with some drawings?

It's been 20 years since I held the album in my hands.

Right, it isn't because the name of the BAND, like i VERY SPECIFICALLY said, was Arnold Corns.

Ibby 08-02-2006 02:57 PM

Let me clarify the question, because it doesnt make much sense as I've written it... Name two differences between what the tracklist/lyrics on the sleeves say and what is actually ON the album.

Flint 08-02-2006 03:01 PM

#1: The albums sleeves promise "a zany laugh-fest"

Here's how it works.

One person posts a music trivia question. If you know the answer, post it. First person to get it right gets to ask another question. DON'T post another question until you are confirmed correct.
EDIT: NO GOOGLE. Please. Honour system.
I'll start.

Where did the band Pink Floyd get its name?

personally, i think ibram is breaking his own rules. just my opinion.

Ibby 08-02-2006 03:28 PM

Care to tell why? I'm not, I'm really not... If the consensus is that I'm not allowed to ask my mother if she knows the answer I will be perfectly happy not to do so (she helped me with a few, like the Costello one and a couple others), but I am not using the internet for help.

Flint 08-02-2006 03:32 PM

Don't you dare drag your poor mother into this!

:::sickened at a new low being sunk too in an unholy quest for trivia glory:::

Spexxvet 08-02-2006 04:19 PM

The album sleeves are floppy and have a hole in the center?

Pancake Man 08-02-2006 04:28 PM

Finally, one that I know!
The song after Goodbye Blue Sky is identified as What Shall We Do Now? on the sleeve, but Empty Spaces on the record.

Flint 08-02-2006 04:30 PM

Is this to do with the difference between the album album and the soundtrack album? (Meaning: I have a live version of the album which has songs/versions on it that weren't on the studio album, but were in the movie.)

Ibby 08-02-2006 04:33 PM

Flint, do you mean the Is There Anybody Out There - The Wall Live? Great CD. Pancake man, you got it, but can you think of a second difference?

Pancake Man 08-02-2006 04:38 PM

Barely got that one. Can't think of another difference. But I will gladly hold off asking another question until someone can.

Ibby 08-02-2006 04:54 PM

Eh, I'll let you take it so Flint can't use it as another thing to bitch about.
The other thing I can think of off the top of my head is that the songs are out of order, with Hey You being but right before (or maybe after...) Comfortably Numb.

Pancake Man 08-02-2006 05:16 PM

Oh, that sounds familiar.

John Lennon claims to have said this at the end of "Strawberry Fields Forever".

Spexxvet 08-02-2006 05:18 PM

Paul is a dead man, miss him, miss him, miss him.Backwards

Ibby 08-02-2006 05:20 PM

Which one is it that he said "Cranberry Saaauce?"

Pancake Man 08-02-2006 05:42 PM

Darnit, thought that one was too easy. Ibram got it.

Everyone thinks that he said "I buried Paul" and he swore that he said "Cranberry Sauce".

well, there have been a couple questions that you answered incorrectly that would indicate googling. a bruce springstein one,and one i forget atm. plus, a teenage boy wouldn't know half of this stuff. and finally, i asked MY mom. and she thinks you're cheating.

btw, does your mom google?

My mom can beat up your mom.

Next question?

Ibby 08-03-2006 06:06 AM

Uh... What song, inspired by a real event, has a main character by the name of Rubin, who is arrested for something he didn't do cause he was black?

Flint 08-03-2006 08:29 AM

Livin' For The City...?

Shawnee123 08-03-2006 09:16 AM

As usual...no clue.

I have a question though: in what year was what album produced that had a guy on the guitar and a drummer and the bassist wore a red tie and they played some notes and had a concert?
(I crack myself up! )

Spexxvet 08-03-2006 09:17 AM

Cheating is violating the rules. Since the only stated rule was no Googling, he's probably not cheating, by his rules.

However, I feel trivia questions, and answers, should come from your head, not from reference material...or Mom, but that's just my take on trivia. :2cents:

Ibby 08-03-2006 01:30 PM

Spexxvet got it.

And if it is decided so, I shall ask my mother no longer.
