So it would seem.

He was an argument looking for a place to happen. Didn't think it would ever happen though.

That's crazy. In Austin, there are open jobs for tech and other white collar positions due to ongoing rapid expansion, but the service industry is cutthroat. Way too many teens and students, not enough people willing to go to shitty venues with teen/student levels of customer service. Plus a lot of the service jobs that would normally go to teens are taken by musicians in their 30s.

it used to be that way here. That's why I blame Pfizer. It's not like we don't have students galore..... but most of them are rich and don't work....

So did it snow much up your way? We were expecting 3" of ice and snow, but a dry hole was over our area and we got a dusting. All around us was disaster. DOTs spread 500,000 tons of salt and 485 tons of sand in Myrtle Beach and Horry Co.

The temp was running 15° and y'all know salt don't work at that temperature. The dummies should have spread 500,000 tons of sand. The troopers reported 375 accidents the night it snowed. These Hicks can't drive in rain. What they doing out there?

People can't drive an automatic in inclement weather. They put it in OD just like usual. These days cars are small and light with aluminum engines. Oh the cars have front wheel drive which isn't worth a fuck in snow and ice cause there is no weight on the drive wheels.

I have an Avalanche 2 wheel drive. It has a 38 gal fuel tank. I just fill it up and drive anywhere. I didn't I stayed home as I had pneumonia.

Well thats the news

Too cold for snow ;)

lumberjim 01-07-2018 12:34 AM

Front wheel drive cars have the engine and transmission over the drive wheels. Your 4X2 truck is less suited to driving in snow.

It's 7° as I post this. Brisk.

We have barely enough to xc ski. The downhill mountains are making a shit-ton with these temperatures though. The gear is out and ready to go.

I used to fill the pick up bed with snow to get more weight for extra traction.

It compacts continually, though. Then ya have to put more snow in, or the compacted snow will start moving front to back in the bed when you hit the gas, or brakes. That gets annoying fast. And can become a hindrance, instead of a help.

Evidently it went up the coast, Bethany, DE, got a foot, Toms River, NJ, 16", Cape Cod a foot. Plus the Cape Cod bays are frozen over.

I'm talking about those little cars that are about the size of a Fiat. Sit low to the ground and get stuck on a dog turd.

I hear ya. Ground clearance not withstanding.... Back in 1996, i sold cars. The Ford Aspire was the easiest car to get out of a snow drift. The mustang was impossible. The Aerostar was worse.

What day is this? Tuesday Ok I can talk to you on Tuesday cause you working. That was some rain event here. Did y'all get much snow. Right chilly outside with the wind. I will be so glad when this winter is over. Seems longer than usual. Why we have had almost a month of cold ass cold.

lumberjim 02-01-2018 06:33 PM

It snowed some, but didn't stick much. I had the bike out a couple of sundays ago. Now it's cold again. Ready for that whistle pig to say it'll be an early spring.
