It's soccer season and my wife and I went to the games last Saturday for her son who has 5 kids all playing this year, even their 4 1/2 year old. The second game day of the season is Grandparent's Day and they handed out neat little metal lapel/hat pins for the old folks so we each collected 5 by the end of the day. Here are 2 shots, one of us with the kiddos and one of the youngest hamming it up for her fan section.

This is a shot of my daughter, Bridget who lives and works in Seattle. She had a photographer friend that her company uses for PR work take some glamor shots of her. Funny how you feel when your babies grow up and become adults. She looks mostly like her mother and definitely got the Irish side of the genes.

xoxoxoBruce 04-25-2013 03:53 PM

Yes, I can seen the blarney bubbling in those eyes.
Grandparenting has perks... and pins. :thumb:

infinite monkey 04-25-2013 03:57 PM

Ali, I just saw Eva in the bath. That is so freaking cute!

Nice lookin' family, chris.

Aliantha 04-25-2013 08:48 PM

Yeah, she loves bath time IM. :) Almost as much as she loves eating. lol

Big Sarge 04-27-2013 11:37 AM

Great photos! Bridget has wonderful eyes. Eva in the bath put a big grin on my face. You need to save that picture to show her boyfriend someday

Thanks! I needed that smile.

What a cutie!

Happy Monkey 04-30-2013 12:14 PM

No offspring of my own, but I'm looking forward to being an uncle soon. I'll be wallowing in baby pictures!

My kids are adults now but I still take pictures of them. Here is one of my 2 daughters, Deirdre and Bridget. And one of my 3 sons, Brian Colin and Liam. That one was taken at Colin's wedding. Since then Liam has married.... starting to feel old. ;)

infinite monkey 05-01-2013 02:35 PM

Whoa, Colin looks a lot like Colin in Love, Actually!

Great looking family. Your girls are so pretty.

Chocolatl 05-02-2013 12:03 PM

Very happy looking family, too. Love how different and yet similar your girls look.

footfootfoot 05-02-2013 08:20 PM

Chris, that glamor shot of Bridget looks like a vintage 60s shot. There's nothing that gives the date away and the colors and light are straight 60s.

I take it Liam is the Mini-Chris. Handsome lads, beautiful daughters. 5 kids!

Chocolatl 05-04-2013 04:37 PM

Conflict of interest: intense hunger vs. inexplicable spoon aversion

footfootfoot 05-04-2013 07:26 PM

Translation:

I don't want the fucking spoon MOM!
I want the dowas!

Boob juice! Helleaux???

Clodfobble 05-04-2013 08:48 PM

Also:

"Hand over that utensil, wench, I will have the dignity to feed myself! I said GOOD DAY."

Aliantha 05-04-2013 11:12 PM

Choco, try giving her her own spoon to hold while you feed her. That's what I do with Eva (and all previous progeny) when they go through this stage. ;)

Chocolatl 05-04-2013 11:28 PM

Good idea, Ali. Thankfully this was a one time occurrence -- so far. She's usually a happy camper at mealtimes, but on this particular morning she had woken up in a bad mood and wasn't happy with anything. I took the video after about 10 minutes of "I'm HUNGRY! GET THAT SPOON OUT OF MY FACE!" :)

Aliantha 05-04-2013 11:39 PM

When they're getting more self sufficient, they can be a bit resentful of you feeding them. Eva is actually doing the same thing quite often, so she has her spoon, and when she is about to put the spoon in her mouth, I quickly put a loaded one in. It's just one of those little tricks I learned from someone once who seemed to have more knowledge than me. It's important to share the little tricks of the trade. ;)

That would be an awesome book, I think the cellar parents could collaborate and write it.

BABIES
Tricks of the Trade

Let's do it!

(and by that I mean all you guys, not me-I'm just the idea man)

Aliantha 05-05-2013 04:02 PM

If you put on stockings and high heels we might let you take dictation for us. :)

Aliantha 05-07-2013 04:05 PM

Choco, how did the spoon trick go? Did it help?

Chocolatl 05-07-2013 06:39 PM

Haven't actually needed it, yet. She's been eating voraciously the past few days, with no further spoon crisis. :)

Aliantha 05-07-2013 08:21 PM

OH great. :)

Sundae 05-08-2013 08:23 AM

Forwarded the pic of Eva to Mum. Made her very happy.

Uncle Jim's birthday today, but we only got the answerphone this morning, assume they were out celebrating. We sang Happy Birthday anyway.

footfootfoot 05-08-2013 09:03 AM

Moar pics of Eva and Max!

Aliantha 05-08-2013 05:45 PM

I'm glad she liked it Sundae. I like your Mum. :) I still haven't had any hard copies of pics printed yet, but when I do, I'll send some over for your Mum.

I'll post more when I get more worth posting foot. :)

Aliantha 05-08-2013 06:49 PM

Mummy, get off teh cellar and play with me!

Fuzzyhead! It looks like she is sneaking up on you.

Aliantha 05-08-2013 09:08 PM

She sort of does. She plays peek a boo from behind my laptop if I'm sitting on the lounge while she's zipping around the lounge room in her walker. lol

Clodfobble 05-08-2013 10:25 PM

That hair is fantastic, Ali. :) I think her eyes resemble you. (Easy to say, since we've never seen a picture of Dazza.)

Aliantha 05-08-2013 11:27 PM

Yes, she has very fluffy hair at the moment. lol I think her eyes (like max's) are very much like my Mum's, which I guess maybe is where mine come from too.

Got the lathe working!

ZenGum 05-11-2013 06:30 PM

Ali ... aww, it's so fuzzzzzzy!

Classic ... love the effect of the reflections in the glasses.

Glatt ... concentrate ... concentrate ... (and good use of safety gear!)

footfootfoot 05-11-2013 08:30 PM

Nice looking lathe! Is that an indexing pin on the far side of the stock? (from your son)

You can do fluted columns and legs!

And palm down on the tool. Fingers are for when he's doing the fine stuff after he's roughed out the blank, tell him foot3x said so, he won't listen to his dad.

glatt 05-11-2013 08:36 PM

That is an indexing pin! I know it locks the live spindle head thing in place and there are tons of little notches in the pulley head thing that you can use. I'll have to try it some day.

Thanks for the tip about the palm.

I've seen plans for jigs that are essentially router carriages that ride along the bed, for fluting and adding other decorations.

Turning is one of my all time favorite woodshop activities.

Griff 05-11-2013 08:59 PM

Very cool. I don't think I've touched a wood lathe since high school... gonna have to googly that router idea.

Haha..that would be funny. She'd be almost famous. lol

Better put the date in the calendar! 28th, september. :)

infinite monkey 05-12-2013 03:50 AM

Eva is way too adorable!

classic that is a nice looking son you got there. Look at those perfect teeth!

glattson is looking more like glattdad all the time. :) I laughed when I came to the thread because the first post on this page was a pic of the lathe...had to go back to figure that one out.

Aliantha 05-12-2013 03:53 AM

Yeah, that boy is the spit from his Dad's mouth that's for sure.

Beans after her first bath at 1 month of age, and after a bath at 9 months of age.

I can't believe the difference! And to think she's going to keep growing... how do you parents handle it?! :)

Lamplighter 05-26-2013 09:59 PM

That peek-a-boo pic is really great... much fun

footfootfoot 05-26-2013 10:05 PM

We keep buying larger and larger clothes until they fit into our hand-me-downs. By that point I believe they pretty much just help themselves to anything they want.

Griff 05-27-2013 06:19 AM

Beans is awesome!

glatt 05-28-2013 07:55 AM

I love that age! what an adorable kid.

Aliantha 05-30-2013 08:35 AM

Cute pics. :)

Can i ask why she didnt have a bath till she was 1 month old?
