"I find the process half of the art "

zippyt, I didn't understand that. Would you explain?

Well, today I went to the art fest. I introduced myself as a "fresh artist":) to the people from the art foundation. They can help me to show my work. So, I don't sell my stuff for now, and make the portfolio. Actually, I have enough stuff for portfolio, but I want more in different styles.

Thanks for pushing me.:) It’s time to be an artist.:)

You go, Girl.:thumb:
Half of the "art" is the design and the other half is the creation or "craft", if you prefer. We can see the design in the finished product and it's good. What we can't see, is the how you made it, so we'd like you to describe the process. Please.:)
I can see how some of it was put together but I'm especially intrigued by the first one you showed us. The one that looks like a womans torso in a dress, because it's so 3 dimensional.

Ok, I got you.:)

The "first one" is bottles covered with leather.
I found female bottle on the flea market .It was ugly bottle with beautiful shapes. The second bottle came from the liquor store (it was goooood Pinch:)).
The pictures have leather and stones "dimensions" only. I use pressed cardboard for a background.

" but some of us like to see the process of makeing it "

Welcome to my garage,pardon,studio.:D

Even if I tell you how the process is done, you can not make the same. Some "secrets" you can get by watching the process.

I 've been searching the Internet, local art fests and galleries for similar art. You can find many leather art (mixed media) in Europe, but not here. The artists work with different kinds of glue. Depending on the glue you can get different kinds of leather shapes and styles. I improved my own technique accidentally, because I didn't know what glue artists use:) So, I just started working my own way:)

Also, artists work with different types of leather, beads, woods or stones. Some of them paint the leather. I don't like re-painting leather. Also, I don't like open cuts. I always cover or hide leather ends. That's why my work looks like clay work on pictures.

Well, zippyt, if you want more information, I can tell you by pm.

justme Thanks for the info :thumb: .
My mom was an artist and it always facinated me watching her create some thing from common stuff .

I may be PMing you about the teneque later , i can see some cool fishing flys that i could make .
Question is it possable to make these shapes so they are water proof ?? Also do you or would you sell any of this art ?? and do you do special requests ??? I have a bottle that i think you could do something special with .

"Question is it possable to make these shapes so they are water proof ??"

What do you mean? "Water proof" is for the fishing flys?
I don't think the leather is appropriate material for the fishing flys.:)

Friend of mine went to Alaska. She hooked me up GOOD. She also made a side trip to Washington State ... went to Roslyn, got me some Northern Exposure stuff including mugs, teeshirts, and a photo of the actual moose, then on to Snoqualmie Falls for a Twin Peaks extravaganza.

Can you make it to Talkeetna, Alaska next week?

Me too! Me too! Only I prefer that it have been born after I was, because I don't have any place to put a teleharmonium or a grand piano...

Anything that says ARP, Moog, Oberheim, Sequential Circuits, EML, Mellotron, Chamberlain, Vako Orchestron, EMS, OScar...

I just missed getting a String Ensemble for free last weekend. I almost cried.

.

I have to bite. Curiosity made me look up the teleharmonium, and I see they are not petite little devices. I'd rather use that kind of space for an ENIAC, but that's personal preference.

SM's reference to "keyboards older than" him made me want to simply say "me too", until I remembered that I am, in fact, older than all but the original RCA Synthesizer (which was the size of small house), and so that would severely limit my available keyboards. So, I figured I'd mention one of the original electronic keyboards...

Hey, this is for GODWOLF. Nice collection, I really envy your ability to stay focused on the D-Backs. I've been collecting baseball cards since '71, and have taken up the entire loft and garage. I really like that framed Bazooka comic of Gonzo's "abc" gum.

smoothmoniker 07-09-2004 11:31 AM

Els - what's your showcase piece? I'm currently restoring a 1967 Rhodes with the brown and tan fender tweed on the outside, and the vox red mesh over the speaker section. Until that's done, I'm still jonesing on my Jupiter 8 - one of the best analog board made, IMHO
