But which accent are you referring to? My Canadian friends say I sound like a NJ gangster. My NY and CA (and NC come to think of it) friends mock how I say "yeah". Apparently we say yeeeah in PA. |

I KNEW you'd have an accent! You sound like wolf and bruce and tony---like yer from Philly! Ya Phillys, ya. |
Not me, I don't sound like I'm from Philly because I'm not.

I think it's amazing how many different accents there are in the US. We do have slight variations from area to area here, but nothing even close to what you lot have over there. Not in my opinion anyway.
Same with the poms. |
MA alone has five distinct accents and the people on the borders of those five areas have sub-accents.

Mid westerners don't have an accent, I don't think?
Except though from Minnesota, which really isn't Mid West. But us Chicagoans pronounce it "Chicaaaaaaaaaaahhhhgo" not "Chi COH go. Other than that we represent how most American television and movie actors portray a neutral American accent or lack there of. |
fresh, it's still an accent, even if it is a bland version of some of the more 'decorative' accents around the place.
|
True. Verbally we are bland, us in the corn fields.
Ever heard a mid westerner say "We're going to the bar, wanna go with?" Non mid westerner: "...with what?" Mid westerner: "With..." Non: "??" |
The Minnesota accent is funny. I have the bland midwesterner accent.
