On a whim? Did she buy that story?

BigV 12-03-2010 12:01 AM

bwaaaahahahahhahaha
YES! she did. in fact, she was with me when I bought it. I sought her expertise as a horse lover. she confirmed that though the saddle was in pretty poor shape the price was unbeatable. Plus, I'll be able to use it for something, like costume parts for SakuraCon. The stirrups and stirrup leathers *just happened* to go nicely with a girth I've had for a long time.

It was a LOT of fun!

Watch out for the horsey set, they love to train geldings to serve them.:eek2:

BigV 12-03-2010 12:16 AM

!!

My interest in pony play has certain hard limits. We could talk about training and serving, but I don't have the balls for gelding--I'm just too attached to them.

xoxoxoBruce 12-03-2010 12:21 AM

Ah, but you do have the balls for gelding.;)

A couple Dwellars may know what this is, but, I haven't seen any posts to indicate that anyone would know for sure what it is. Instead of a tight macro shot, or just a crop, you get the whole thing right off the bat. I covered the area where the brand name was, as a simple Googling would pretty much give it away. If you need another angle, I might could accommodate.

There's nothing in the pic for scale, so I'll tell you the piece of wood it's mounted on is 9¾" x 5½" x ⅝". The piece of wood itself is not pertinent, it's just a base for stability.

So, what is this?

glatt 12-03-2010 07:37 AM

Never seen one before, but it's clearly a clamp/vise of some sort and the deer means it has to do with hunting. It's plastic, so I doubt it's strong enough to clamp a rifle. Could probably clamp an arrow. Maybe for working on the feathers or the razor tips? It's got an integrated ruler, which maybe you could use for lining up the feathers in the right spot? I don't know what it's called, but I'm going to guess it's a clamp for working on arrows.

Well, now. That didn't take long did it? It is a fletching jig. It is indeed used for holding the feathers while the glue is drying. This one is for straight fletching, as opposed to helical (slight spiral) left or right. Very good deducing, Glatt. These pics pretty much show them in use.

fletching jig

BigV 12-03-2010 02:52 PM

I can see I need to be quicker on my refresh.

glatt 12-03-2010 02:53 PM

"fletching jig" sounds kind of dirty.

BigV 12-03-2010 02:55 PM

an easy typo there gets your directly into nsfw territory.

Gravdigr 12-04-2010 01:47 PM

Felching rig?
