Dog On The Roof!
I was minding my own business, and as you know all of these things get started that way. I heard my daughter yell: "Mom! Maya's on the ROOF!"
No way, I thought. Then again, I thought, she was pretty handy with the agility ramps at the shelter we got her from. I dashed upstairs to see. Hubby dear was on the roof himself, cleaning out the gutters. He heard footsteps and turned around to see a certain mid-size curly-tailed dog scampering about on the shingles, grinning her doggy grin. She'd gone right up the ladder. Unfortunately, dogs are not as good at going *down* ladders as they are at going up. She trotted back and forth for a few minutes, assessing whether or not she could afford to jump off the roof of the solarium. http://www.wayswriter.com/pam/mayaroofsm.jpg It was a bit too far up, though. So she walked over to hubby, who was on the ladder and trying to figure out how to get her to walk back down. http://www.wayswriter.com/pam/mayaroof2sm.jpg Fortunately she is only 35 pounds, so he was able to grab her and carry her down, much as a fireman would rescue a child from a burning building. :) My HERO! :D After she was set down on the ground, our 100-pound German Shepherd proceeded to tell her off - growling and baring his teeth, chasing her, as if to say: HEY, you gave us quite a scare, you little nitwit! Don't you ever do that again! |
That or -
"Hey! I wanna try that too - How'd you do that? I'm doin it the second these stupit humans go back inside." |
Does new dog have a name, Juni? And how's she settling in with the rest of the family?
|
New dog's name is Maya, and she is doing great! They all get along just fine.

I had a Golden that would climb ladders, as you say, down is another game.

We're having some drama at the Griff house. Our goat Tinker got meningeal worm while pregnant. This is a nasty worm the whitetail deer carry that attacks the nervous systems of llamas and sadly goats. It has probably progressed too far for her to survive but despite being down she gave birth to Francesca yesterday without human assistance. Life finds a way.

Aw, Griff, I am so sorry about your goat. But what a cute little baby!
|
Crap. :(
Any chance the worm was passed to the kid? |
Awww, Griff, there you go again reminding me of the wonder of life.
So sorry about mom but what a darling little one. |

Sorry 'bout your goat, Griff. Is that worm thingie anything like EHD (Epizootic Hemorrhagic Disease, 'blue tongue' around these parts (ky))? Nasty.
Anyhow...Not mine, but my best friend's cat, Toby. About 30 feet up. |
That is one happy cat!

I'm not familiar with EHD. This worm gets into their nervous system and moves fast once established. Very cool cat! |
Sorry bout the mum goat Griff - another thing learned from coming here...
How's the little one doing? |
Tiny again -- picture by Kitsune. You can see her markings a little better in this pic. She's adjusting pretty well. It's so nice having her around!
