Tulip, you need to change your User Title to Secret Flashlight Nerd.

Kind of like a Zippo. ;)

ZippyT?

Streamlight TL-2

Came in very handy when fixing the polisher, so justified :D
I don't source from the lowest cost, just what the supplier has.

Doesn't have adjustable light levels and modes like those fenix's, or come with a holster very jealous.
Would be very handy as it is too bright to read by.:greenface

only less exciting if you drop it in the tent.

xoxoxoBruce 09-13-2010 08:33 PM

Bah, the tracked in mud will put it out. But if you're paranoid, use a BIC. :haha:

Guilty as charged! :D Hehe...

HLJ: If you like the Fenix P3D, you may want to check out the Quark 123 Tactical. It has similar specs and price range as your old Fenix. It has two programmable primary and secondary outputs with the maximum being 206 lumens and minimum being 0.2 lumens. Three flash modes are availbable: strobe, SOS, and beacon. Clip or no clip options are also available. Not spamming, but here's a site with detailed specs: http://www.4sevens.com/product_info....oducts_id=1653

You may search for another place to buy this light if you're interested in this light; however, that's the actual place where I bought mine. I got the limited Ti Quark AA2 Tactical when it came out. :p: Decent people with great service and decent pricing. If you're interested in ordering from this site, let me know and I'll pm you the way to get 5% off. :D

My EDC is actually a modified L4, and I often reach for Mr. Bulk's Lion Cub, which is also modified. :)

Beest: Streamlights are nice too. ;)

Speaking of Streamlight, I wonder how Big Sarge liked his MicroStream.

HungLikeJesus 09-13-2010 10:17 PM

Tulip, I'm assuming that you've used your L4 to smack someone in the forehead.

I like that moonlight mode. I'm going to have to put that Quark on my wish-list.

Thanks for the input.

monster 09-14-2010 12:47 PM

Why are you so into flashlights, Tulip? What do you use them for?

HungLikeJesus 09-14-2010 09:14 PM

I'm guessing LEO.

xoxoxoBruce 09-14-2010 09:24 PM

What the hell is LEO?

monster 09-14-2010 09:26 PM

Light Emiting Orifice?

HungLikeJesus 09-14-2010 09:31 PM

I'd rather not say - it leaves more chances of getting it right.

Hehe....Fortunately, I never had to smack someone in the forehead. :p: Btw, I was wondering how you could use the P3D to smack someone on the head. It's so short and the head is smooth. Not very ideal.

Because I like bright things? :p: To give you the most candid answer, I use it to shine on the ground when I walk at night so I won't step on any living things. An answer I only offer to close friends because others can't understand. But I trust you guys. Another honest reply would be that I think some, if not many, flashlights are so darn pretty. :D Especially those with bright lights are even more attractive, hehe.

And no, I'm not a LEO (Law Enforcement Officer). :p:

Gravdigr 09-15-2010 05:31 AM

All this flashlight talk reminded me of this, but the humor is lost without the video, which I couldn't find.

Quote:

Movie Name: 3rd Rock from the Sun (1996)
Quote:

Dr. Dick Solomon: [Harry is holding a (large) flashlight with the bulb end
facing inwards] You know, I have an urge to hold that.
Harry Solomon: Well, thats exactly what its for.
Dr. Dick Solomon: May I?
Harry Solomon: Please.
Dr. Dick Solomon: [takes the flashlight and holds it the same way]
You know I rather like this.
Harry Solomon: Yes.
Dr. Dick Solomon: I find this very satisfying.
Harry Solomon: I know.
Dr. Dick Solomon: [after a pause] I wonder what Dr Albright (who is a woman, and Dick's love interest) is doing
right now.
Harry Solomon: OK, thats enough. [takes back flashlight]

Hmm...First time hearing the term, but then again, I learned my faith in Vietnamese. I'm gonna check it out to see exactly what religion Jainism is.

Jains are the folks who have to wear facemasks to prevent breathing in insects, sieve their grains to be sure there aren't any weevils, and gently brush the the ground on which they walk with a broom to move away any insects they might step upon.

Happy Monkey 09-16-2010 02:48 PM

That brings to mind the insect hospital scene in The Baroque Cycle.

Is that immediately after the scene with the formerly healthy insects in The Hot Wash Cycle?

Happy Monkey 09-20-2010 02:31 PM

Perhaps; the book primarily covered care and feeding of bloodsuckiing insect patients, rather than what landed them in the hospital in the first place.

Hand held blenders! The huge canister ones seem to break all the time. The quality of smoothies is so much better with a hand held one. The clean up is simpler too.

That foam eraser. The magic eraser. It really really works.

Thermos Patent envy?

xoxoxoBruce 09-21-2010 12:16 PM

How do it know?

Happy Monkey 09-21-2010 01:01 PM

I don't need you. All I need is this thermos.

xoxoxoBruce 09-21-2010 01:09 PM

Coffee, soup, and Popsicles.

glatt 09-21-2010 01:10 PM

especially those orange creamsicles.

xoxoxoBruce 09-21-2010 01:12 PM

In the thermos?

Funny.

Flint 09-29-2010 12:21 PM

Products I wholeheartedly endorse: "Corn Nuts" yummm

Shawnee123 09-29-2010 12:22 PM

Dude, I swear, the giant family farm where I worked as a kid grew some of them there corns for them there nuts.

Yummm indeedy!

Flint 09-29-2010 12:25 PM

Corn Nuts "Bust a Nut" radio ad:

Shawnee123 09-29-2010 12:27 PM

"lightly toasted and hard as well."

Hahaha!

footfootfoot 09-29-2010 12:34 PM

I met a few of the Holloway family (Corn Nuts magnates) on a bike trip in the mid 80's. Nice folks, they all had great senses of humor.

fargon 09-29-2010 12:35 PM

Corn Nuts GOOOOOD!!!

Shawnee123 09-29-2010 12:44 PM

I'm a corn nut magnet too.

They really are good. I don't know, after all my dental work, I'd be afraid to eat them.

wolf 09-29-2010 01:59 PM

Today, I am wholeheartedly supporting Mucinex. Like magic, it is. Not coughing (much), seem to be able to breathe, nose running like a faucet, but there's nothing in it to dry up the nose.

xoxoxoBruce 09-29-2010 02:00 PM

Try meth, it'll make the bestest boogers.

wolf 09-29-2010 02:15 PM

I like the weight loss option with that, too, but I don't know if my dental plan is good enough .

Was funny last night at the all-night stupidmarket when the checkout lady demanded to see some idea. I looked at her, cough, sniffled, and held out $25, asking, is that good enough for you? I don't make meth on Tuesdays, only weekends.

She was satisfied. I looked pretty miserable and desperate.

Undertoad 10-13-2010 05:56 PM

Plantronics has been developing telephone headsets for many years. For wired or bluetooth phone gear, they are still the king.

Verizon FIOS remains top notch. No complaints in years of service so far.

When you need technology/computer products, you must buy them from Newegg.

I am a huge fan of northeastern-US supermarket chain Wegman's. They delight in every way.

Clodfobble 10-13-2010 10:26 PM

I did a trial-run with my new Hoover SteamVac ("with CleanSurge!") this afternoon. I have a relatively small but nonetheless quite clean patch on my carpet now! This is very exciting, as paying a company to come in and do it is not affordable, especially considering how often it realistically needs to be done around here.

It took a little jiggering with the pieces at one point to regain an airtight seal after I removed the dirty water tank to empty it, but I made it work. I'm extremely happy with it overall.

monster 10-13-2010 10:43 PM

Oh we totally endorse the Hoover Steam Vacs. They rock.

monster 10-13-2010 10:45 PM

...and they wear out if you use them enough. Get an extended three year warranty and take it back at 2y11m. There will be enough wrong with it to get a new one and then you can buy a new 3y warranty for peanuts. Well, we're on our third vac this way.... I guess eventually they'll wise up.....

Clodfobble 10-13-2010 10:57 PM

Hmm. Got it off Amazon, no offer of a 3-year-warranty. I'll get the next one at a brick-and-mortar.
