Gravdigr 11-15-2016 12:57 PM

Do you find cats interesting? Do you have access to Netflix?

Then you need to watch "The Lion In Your Living Room" (on Netflix, atm).

Very interesting documentary. Learned several things, when I was certain I probably wouldn't learn anything.

Teasers:

1. All cats (when I say 'cats', I mean housecat-type cats, not lions, tigers, jaguars, etc.) come from a single type of wild cat found in what is now Jerusalem.

2. We can thank the Vikings for orange tabby cats.

Here's a teaser vid, but it doesn't accurately reflect the tone of the show:

That looks great Grav, thanks for the recommendation.

V, if you are talking about Turbo, he is just sooooooooo relaxed. I was amazed that he was so willing to look at my phone, but then I remembered....A while back, I started watching videos for cats on my 10in tablet with him. He loves it. Especially doing it together.

Now that I'm down to only one furry child of my own and I'm not part of my two adopted ones (they're hers), I'm SERIOUSLY thinking of adopting a new friend for my lone buddy. Wondering if he'd like a little girl or boy. I'm thinking of a 5 yr old to adopt.

If your cat doesn't dig catnip you have three other choices.
Quote:

In some ways, this study adds even more confusion, because it’s not just nip that turns cats on. Sebastian Bol, molecular biologist and owner of the Cowboy Cat Ranch in Texas pardner’d up with several southern California cat clinics to test three additional plants—silver vine, Tatarian honeysuckle, and valerian root. With 100 different cats, he rubbed the plant matter on a sock or a square of carpet, and set the material in the cats’ line of sight. Then he waited. If the cat approached and backed away, he considered that a denial. “Animals tend to move towards things they like, and back away from things they consider threats,” says Buffington. After each success or denial, he’d wait about five minutes for the cat to relax, then try again with another plant type. The response rate was striking: Almost 80 percent of the cats responded to the silver vine (a higher response rate than even nip, which got less than 70 percent of the cats high), and roughly 40 percent each for valerian root and honeysuckle.
But either way if your cats could print stickers...

Saturday night after I left, one of her cats was all over her, persistently in her face. She checked her blood sugar and it was 24! Below 70 there is a danger of falling asleep and slipping into a coma.

Who's a good cat? You, you're a good cat. Yes you are, a very good cat! :D

Gravdigr 03-27-2017 04:11 AM

I DID! And he really watched it. But I don't he got any ideas, tho.

BigV 04-11-2017 01:10 AM

didn't ring any bells for him?

xoxoxoBruce 04-11-2017 01:39 AM

I bought some Silvervine from Amazon and gave it to my friends two cats to... uh, last night. They investigated it immediately because hey, they're cats.
I bought some of the sticks with thin bark on them, about 4 inches long and less than 1/4 inch in diameter. The sticks they have to bite a couple times to get a taste, then they get into it and start rolling around with it and acting goofy.
I also bought the powder, which I presume is just ground vine, and it comes with a little fluff toy to sprinkle it on. We did the new toy and one of their old well chewed toys. They took to both of them right away and got goofier.
I done good.:thumb:

Was liked enough to distract them from the box for a bit.

The friends cats I bought them for seemed to like them pretty well. :thumb2:
