pistachios = crack

wolf 06-22-2005 11:26 PM

I can't stand the darn things. I barely tolerate them in middle eastern dessert items that involve lots of honey and crunchy bits.

BigV 06-29-2005 01:44 PM

coffee.

While technically a necessary bodily fluid (like blood or saliva) coffee isn't actually a food, I do enjoy not going without it for more than an hour or so.

Mountain Dew - the caffeine and sugar calls to me.

What's milo?

Sun_Sparkz 07-13-2005 04:57 PM

oh!! you have never had milo!!

Maybe its an Aussie thing? It has the consistency of coffee but it is chocolate, primarily used to flavour milk, can beadded to almost anything (ice cram, bread, drinks etc.)

yum!

The US is not one of the 30 countries in which the product is available. The website says it's fully of vitaminy goodness, and also mentions malt as a component. Near as I can figure, it's like Ovaltine, because the consistency you are describing is very different from Nestle's Quik powder.

elSicomoro 07-14-2005 01:57 AM

My parents will no longer buy any Nestle products. Nestle is closing their 3 St. Louis plants next year, and my stepdad will be unemployed after 42 years with them.

Is it like Marmite? I tried that stuff once...

I think I was wrong on the Fanta thing...I was actually thinking of Shasta. Maybe they were the same thing???

I like to eat buttered toast with molasses on it. yum. I dunno what it is about molasses, but I love the taste.

I am sorry to hear about your stepdad, Syc. If it makes you feel any better, their cocoa powder sucks for making cake. I like Giradellis.

elSicomoro 07-14-2005 05:14 PM

Milo and Marmite appear to be two totally different food items, though I was originally thinking of Marmite myself when Sun said Milo.

Shasta has always been American to my knowledge, but did have 950 flavors...I don't see it much these days.

Thanks, Case. He'll be alright...he's essentially retiring early (he turns 61 in September), and he's getting a pretty decent package from them.

kerosene 07-14-2005 05:29 PM

Yes, shasta was the kind my grandma had all the time...and in about a million different flavors. Fanta...I remember orange...but I can't remember much else about it. Fanta was the stuff I had in Czech that came in Raspberry flavor.

elSicomoro 07-14-2005 05:32 PM

The only time I every really saw Fanta was at fountain machines (usually orange or strawberry)...I did see a bunch of varieties in Indiana about 15 years ago, though.

I just had a Green Tea Frappuccino from Starbucks...Goddamn, that was good!

Happy Monkey 07-14-2005 05:44 PM

Fanta now has the most annoying commercials before movies.
