If it's not fun this way, let us know a way that would be more fun. The only rule is you don't get to declare two winners in a row. We have voting once we get to the final four.

It's fun the way it is. This way, we get to pick on people when they don't make a choice we agree with. And a certain amount of randomness is throw in, which is good.

Seven Year Itch? What are you, nuts? What an upset!

History of the World pt 1, or The Blues Brothers?

It's not "not fun", it's more the case that I got here late, didn't know what was going on and plus, having the Meaning of Life displaced (I refuse to say defeated) by Office Space thrust me into a state of perfect discombuberation. Now you know what I sound like when I'm discombuberated.

Anyway, as a comptetion these rules are ok. I was/am ignorant. But I do have an idea... At the risk of changing it from the competition format into a raw poll, if voting is ok on the final four, what about voting in the earlier rounds? I know that sounds like a lot of collating and counting, but you could sidestep the whole hanging chad issue by making use of your poll tool. Each level of the bracket could be one poll. Post the entire level at once, and let the voting be open for a short time (tick tock tick tock) and the votes accumulate and the whole level is decided at once. Really, it's not a lot different than what you have happening now, only the number of votes deciding the winner of a given match increases from one to something more than one, and the timeframe increases from one instant post to maybe a quarter hour? longer? shorter? Your poll tool still prevents ballot box stuffing with the one vote per member, and there could be cheering and jeering during the individual matches, as the vote totals accumulated. More time to enjoy the match in progress.

I dunno, just an idea. It is fun this way too.

And thanks for letting me come over to your place to play, sincerely.

I guess I keep hoping that Marilyn Monroe will fall out of her dress. The dramatic tension keeps me watching. Wait, um, this is the comedy competition. My bad. Sorry.

Ferris Bueller's Day Off

lookout123 03-01-2005 12:13 PM

hey radar - either you're missing something, or i am. first vote gets the win, but you have to wait until UT gives us the match up.

Clodfobble 03-01-2005 12:13 PM

Radar, you have to wait until UT asks the question. Then the first to answer has chosen the winner, end of battle, and we wait for UT to make another move.

lookout123 03-01-2005 12:20 PM

if you are curious, there are currently 22 people anxiously awaiting the next matchup.
