There you go, if they had guns that wouldn't have happened. With machetes, it's hand to hand, where the young, strong, and vicious prevail. But with guns, the old, weak, and frail, can defend themselves from a distance.

Maybe, but it seems to me that if one group of people is set on exterminating another group, they'll find a way to do it one way or another.

I think the only way to battle that is to assume the same attitude, unless there's an accessible safe haven. And those African refugee camps don't qualify.

What tipped the balance into a genocide rather than a hand to hand machete fight was one party had guns and the other did not. Wiki on "Rwandan Genocide:"
