Also, to whoever played Scotchie:

If you're actually Scottish, you should check in with us come August. We do a meat and beet then in Edinburgh, and you sound Scottish enough to make the grade.

We won't humiliate you TOO much.

The first post moderation really cuts down on the spammers, which are occasionally a huge problem. They seem to come in clusters.

There are certain aspects of PD that are quite impressive.

i think there are other ways to accomplish that but I'm not tec guy so don't ask me what they are

its just confusing to have your first post vanish then appear later and your second and third post disappear and then pop up out of order in a
random place, hard for those of us used to a forum where posts pile up almost as fast as a chat room..

edit to add- you do what you got to do, spammers suck

xoxoxoBruce 02-06-2009 12:55 PM

The second and third should not, only the first. That's a tech problem.
When they reappear they should be where you posted them, in the right chronological order.

fomentor 02-06-2009 01:00 PM

it didn't work that way for me but there are always glitches ....

I'm planning on going, presuming I can still afford a plane ticket and Syn will let me crash on his couch!

I'm an expat sassanach, haven't been back across the pond in years. One of my best friends dads who lived three doors away was from glasgow, I knew him for 18 years, never understood a word he said.

Thanks for the offer though.

I had a hell of a time trying to understand my grandparents... Port Dundas.

I'm Scots as well, but from clan Cunningham, central highlands. My birth parents emigrated to the US before I was born, making me an American, first generation. Yes, I was an anchor baby. Sorta, they had green cards before I was born and after mom was pregnant.

I want to go to Scotland before I'm old and gray(er).

Sundae 02-07-2009 03:01 PM

My SIL's mother is from Dundee.
Years and years and years (ad infinitum) ago

Still pretty much unintelligible.

DucksNuts 02-07-2009 06:16 PM

I missed all this...weird

footfootfoot 02-07-2009 07:23 PM

1/4 Glaswegian here. Granddad.

bluecuracao 02-08-2009 04:54 AM

Yeah, I missed it too. I was all ready to sign up as T'Paucuracao, but nevermind.

Me too. One side of my family is from a small island off Skye.
