wow.... that puts me on the spot......
mmmmm...... which member of a famous 70's group wrote a 60's hit for The Yardbirds, and what was it/ |
"Heart Full of Soul", Graham Gouldman of 10cc.
|
DAMMIT I KNEW THAT ONE! Stupid UT beating me to it... mumble grumble rawr...
|
Actually, Gouldman wrote several of the Yardbirds hits, Heart Full of Soul included, though I was thinking of 'For your Love'.
Still, UT got it right. |
Gouldman also wrote "Bus Stop" for the Hollies. One of Crosby, Stills, and Nash was a Hollie when "Bus Stop" became their first charting hit. Which one?
|
Steven (stephen?) Stills
|
No

Yes! He joined CSN because the Hollies weren't a good vehicle for his more serious work.

WooooHoooo! After 264 posts, I finally get one.
OK, here's the Q: Before Black Sabbath hit it big, their lead guitar player (Tony Iommi) left the group to play for another band (who also hit it big later) then quit after one practice to rejoin Sabbath. Name the other band. Bonus: Why did he quit the other band after only one practice? |
Deep Purple?
Coz Ronnie James Dio is an asshat? |
Not Deep Purple.
First clue: The band in question is still together and still touring. And by together, I mean the people that are commonly associated with the band are still members of the band. |
The Band?
Because he didn't like the name of The Band? |
Nope.
2nd clue: During the very brief time Iommi was with the other band, he appeared with them in the Rolling Stones Rock & Roll Circus in 1969. The concert was filmed but the film was lost and for decades it was thought that no copies of it existed. I guess somebody found it because it was just released on DVD. |
For those of you who don't know and can't wait for the answer - wikipedia knows.
|
JETHRO TULL!
Without wikipedia, thank you very much. |
Lost my rock and roll virginity to Jethro Tull. I haven't missed it since.

Yeah, but why'd he quit?
|
Nice one Ibram.
Wiki doesn't say explicitly, but the gig was "an appearance on "The Rolling Stones' Rock'n'Roll Circus" in which the band mimed "A Song For Jeffrey". I'm thinking the mime thing had something to do with it. |
Quote:
Funny, because Iommi later started making Sabbath practice early in the am and credits Anderson for showing him how to run a band. |
An easy one... What entirely instrumental album recieved an RIAA warning label for explicit content?
|
Tubular Bells? Lol.

Jazz from Hell, F. Zappa
|
Got it, UT.
The song G-Spot Tornado is what got it the warning... and even if that song hadnt been on there, they probably would have given him the warning just for being Frank Zappa. |
Name the ancient country crooner who is a favorite of Melinda French Gates and performed at the Gates' wedding reception.
|
Jedadiah Clampet?
|
George Jones? Hank Williams Jr.? Willie Nelson? Kenny Rodgers? uhhh.... Jim Nabors?
|
Yes, Willie Nelson.
|
Oh, now I feel bad for guessing wildly... So here's an easy one for the locals.

And I will pass the query privilege to the first person who grabs it. Gotta go move some more. |

No, Ozzy is famous enough from Sabbath and his solo stuff, and didnt say that.
There's a pretty good chance you've never heard more than one or two songs by this guy, but I'm sure you know of him. |
