A madrassa is a religious school, the only educational option for the majority of poor Muslims in the Middle East. They are probably the largest form of recruitment for young jihadists.
|
not a chance, because the troops are not divided by religious groups. This organization exists to help troops understand how to be sensitive to the requirements of muslim kids in a troop, not to put together all-muslim troops under the control of a raging imam.

Oh,..and a word of caution on 4-H. I was in 4-H. :eek6: The clubs I was in were all dedicated to a single subject. Horse club, Cattle club, Tractor club. Of course there was a myriad of different activities but always related to the clubs subject. |

yeah, they seem to be the exception. They also have a horrible rep within the rest of scouting, since they steamroll their kids through merit badges, and crank them up to eagle without really deserving it.
how can you tell a mormon eagle scout? his shoes are untied and his ass is on fire. |

I have a vague recollection of seeing BP's caravan when I went to Gilwell Park with the Cubs when I was about ten.
Other, and somewhat clearer, memories of the day were that my bottle of orange squash leaked and the die from my brand new black uniform socks seeped out and caused my feet and lower legs to take on a rather darker hue than the rest of me. :) |
I've heard of grapefruit attacking your eye, but Orange Squash attacking your socks is a new one on me.

Perhaps my omission of a comma after the word 'leaked' caused a lack of clarity. |
Certainly not your lack of comma, definitely my fucked up sense of humor.

I was an Eagle Scout and went to Philmont for the last adventure before leaving the scouts in 1969. Our troop #77 out of Metarie, La. went camping every month sometimes twice. I hiked the 22 miles around Vicksburg military park 3 different years. The first time I got a nifty medal to pin above my shirt pocket. The other hikes I got a star to put on the ribbon of the medal. I wanted another medal not a crummy star.lol.
I learned to start a fire with wet wood. I learned not to set up a tent under a big spreading oak tree. I learned to re tie the ropes holding the logs for the latrine every 2 days. Scoutmaster fell in once. He didn't think it was funny, but everyone else did. I know I can swim at least a mile and twice I had to save a person from drowning. It was a lot easier to become Eagle back then with only 21 badges to acquire. We moved from Metarie to north Jersey and it was different for sure. I couldn't find a troop so I joined the sea scouts. They didn't even have a boat and the meetings were boring so I dropped out. |
