Bernard Cornwell. dude rocks....i've read most of his stuff other than the Sharpe books.....did you read the winter king series? wanna trade some?

Happy Monkey 05-27-2004 06:18 PM

I'm borrowing the Sharpe books two by two from a friend. I don't usually read historical fiction, but these are fun.

I actually finished all of the Sharpe books I've got right now. Untill my next installment, I'm back to 1001 Nights. I'm up to night 280.

The Day The Earth Stood Still, actually.

Klaatu was also the name of a band mildly popular in the 70s. Their only actual hit was the pre-Carpenters version of "Calling Occupants of Interplanetary Craft."

They were quite wonderful, in a pop kind of way.

Some of the interest in the band was generated by a series of "Klaatu is the Beatles" rumors, including searching for clues in their albums.

Elspode 05-28-2004 10:13 AM

I loved Klaatu, and never understood the whole "It's us...we're the Beatles" scam. They were terrific in their own right, and I *still* play their album regularly. In fact, I will be playing "Calling Occupants" this weekend on the Pagan radio low power station at Fest.

Elspode 05-28-2004 10:21 AM

Oh, and I forgot to suggest an alternative handle...Pagans are notorious for alternative handles.

Morbius - the mad scientist from "Forbidden Planet"

IMADV8 - Because I've always thought it would be a great personalized license plate.

Sgt. Hulka - this one needs no explanation

Sean Penn - because you can go all postal on people and you'll still win awards

Pete Best - the guy who left the Beatles too early
