Ibby 08-08-2007 02:03 AM

Oh, ouch.

Cock.

actually though I agree. I hate kids; I definitely dont want one of my own.
My 18th birthday present to myself is going to be a vasectomy.

Aliantha 08-08-2007 04:06 AM

I doubt you'll find a reputable surgeon willing to perform that operation for you.

DanaC 08-08-2007 05:23 AM

Ibram, Ali's right. If you can find a surgeon willing to perform that operation you are putting yourself into the hands of someone who shouldn't be trusted.

yesman065 08-08-2007 07:14 AM

Dude, you know I was just kidding......

.....right?

Really?
How so?

Shawnee123 08-08-2007 02:08 PM

I think they mean because he's so young, most reputable surgeons will not perform that procedure (the theory being they will probably change their mind) on a very young adult. One who is willing to do so might not be the most trustworthy physician.

Anyway, there is a more important aspect: condoms protect you from AIDS. A vasectomy does not.

Cicero 08-08-2007 02:58 PM

Ummm- you are be able to enlist and kill, smoke, drive, enhance your boobs, and pierce your penis 15 times on or before 18, but you should not become personally responsible over your sexual life?
Also old enough to decide you'd like to spend a lot of money on getting an education and choose a career path- but being sure and safe in your sex practices is too risky?

Ibram- you have my support. It's stuff like this that makes me proud of your generation.

And I already told you to wear a condom in this thread. (in case anyone thought I was exculding condoms)

just a note--reputable practitioners will neither enhance a person's boobs, nor pierce the genitals of a minor; that is, before age 18. I think they would also discourage an 18-year old from getting a vasectomy--way too young, IMO.

When I wanted to get a vasectomy, the first doctor I went to wanted my wife to sign a consent form. I was in my late 30's and he wanted my wife's permission for a medical procedure being performed on me! I'm still amazed by that. I went to a different doctor. Idiot.

I think it's perfect timing for a vasectomy. At 18 ideally, you could choose a course of study, and follow it all the way through before you have to worry about getting someone pregnant. But that's only if you trust an 18 year old to set plans and follow through.

Not only that....it's easier to reverse than a lot of things 18 year olds do to themselves.

Ibby 08-08-2007 05:41 PM

You can still reproduce after a vasectomy... you just won't do it by accident. Condoms are still a good idea if you can't vouch for the... safety of your partner, but I'm sticking by my intent to get a vasectomy.

I hate kids. I absolutely do not want to deal with any. A vasectomy fixes that problem, and if I change my mind, it's a simple process to extract some.

Cloud 08-08-2007 05:43 PM

just be aware that your viewpoint on children may change, if you meet the right person. Mine did.

I still am not a big "kid" person--except for my own, but I'm ever so glad I had them.

rkzenrage 08-08-2007 05:45 PM

We did not want kids until we were together for 13 years.
