If there's a God and He has a Plan, then he's a sadistic bugger.

except vs. accept hmmm

Although there is no afterlife, IMO, there IS heaven and hell. And it is right here. Usually people make their lives good or bad as a result of the choices they make. Make the right one, life is good. Make the wrong one, life is bad. No need for a 'universal boss'. We can choose our destiny just fine on our own.
I know that my kids have done some pretty shitty things that really hurt me and pissed me off. I am certain that there is nothing they could do that would make me throw them into a fire. My love for them is unconditional. Is your 'God's' love unconditional? Or will he love you only if you obey his rules and torture you if you don't?
Just saying.....

Converting is like waking up, when I think of all those years of pain I went through, when the truth was so obvious. I prayed, I went to church, I read my Bible, I found excuses for all the evil dumbshit and hypocrisy in the world. That stuff was so that the devil could take my soul!
Then over time, I slowly woke up, there is no "god" or atleast not the one made up by any person. There is no need to worry about heaver or hell, because they don't exist. There is no psycho overbearing judgmental god testing your faith. This is life, there are good and bad people, there is a not a reason for random bad stuff that happens. Its not some god playing with our lives, its just stuff that happens.
Ah...what a relief, what a burden was lifted from my shoulders. I am in control of myself, I don't have to play to some god's sick wet dream of love.

That being said, converting for the sake of a "love" is a bad idea. Your religion, what you choose to believe should be for yourself. What's important in the relationship? Good sex! And if religion is messing that up...get it the fuck out!

Nice job, MTP. And once you have been 'converted' or awakened as you said, theres no going back. Once you have realized how truly silly Man's Religion and belief in Man's God is, how do you possibly decide to participate in it? One caveat though, the act of praying, especially in deep prayer, like meditation, can actually be beneficial to ones health.

So can seeing your family physician.

If you are made in god's image, why do you feel compelled to "convert"?

DanaC 02-19-2009 07:14 AM

Going into a meditative state can be very beneficial. It can help you resolve issues that have been troubling you. Prayer, like Pico suggested, is just another route to that receptive and relaxed frame of mind.

I go into a deep meditative state every day. It lasts for like 7 hours. I have a special place in a special room, built just for it.

See, of course men choose their own image to be god's template. Otherwise we would look like flying spaghetti monsters.

Do you have those specially designed insulating textiles to help keep your body temperature up during this time when body movement isn't enough to keep you warm by itself?

Undertoad 02-19-2009 11:04 AM

Yes - I'm in such a deep state that this is required. I'm actually not even aware of anything happening around me, that's how deep it is.

Then there's the repetitive, droning chant that you do the whole time..

The God's love is unconditional. So much so if you do not want to be near you don't have to. That is what hell is a place where God is not. There is a ruff crowd there.
