Pics of me today from the "pumpkin patch". Everyone meet Abby age 8. It was father/daughter day at the pumpkin patch and she didn't have a dad to go with, so I voluntered. Her mother is one of my dispatchers. Anyway, we had our faces painted and she wanted everyone to know I was her "dad", thus her name was painted on my face. We did the hayride, went through the maze, and even picked pumpkins. I think I had a bigger time than she did. LOL

Awwww.....how sweet of you! Glad you had a great time. :D

My chest just about burst when she asked me if I would pretend to be her daddy!! Looks like I might just have to add another "adoptive daughter" to the family

How sweet you are BS, to be a stand in Dad :)

This is me, my friend's granddaughter, and my other friend Cathy. We were in Hoffman Estates [Chicago] for the annual Chihuahua Club of America National show.

So it was RFThursday... ;)

you're a good man sarge. and nirvana, you look great in glasses!

Sundae 10-11-2011 09:58 AM

Awww, Sarge.
You see, you do draw the ladies to you!

I know how wonderful it feels when a child asks for your company.
Good for you for reciprocating and making her day.

Cute pic Nirvana.
How old is the friend's grand-daughter?
She looks young to be at a show! (not a judgement, I just know that some of our 4 year olds have struggled getting through the Harvest Festival rehearsals :))

Thanks JH

Sundae she is 2 1/2 and her GM had a weekend of running after her for sure ;) She came all the way from Texas to Chicago with her granddaughter. [driving]

Bless.
I am a big advocate of taking young children out with you, as long as you are also teaching them social skills.

My niece & nephew didn't eat out in a real restaurant as children, only kids' restaurants.
Consequently they don't know how to behave in them.

Okay, they are too old to run around and yell, but they don't know how to catch the eye of waiting staff*, order for themselves or stay off their text messages for more than 20 seconds, even while eating.

*I'm not talking Le Manoir Aux Quat'Saisons, I mean in places like Pizza Express or the local Indian. I was working in Deep Pan Pizza at 14! By 19 I was a silver service waitress.

At 17 I was young, conceited, self centred, mouthy - but I could eat out with people older than me and not be a pain in the arse. Oh, apart from being conceited, mouthy etc..

Hope the GD had a great time.
And GM wasn't too exhausted!

Are you kidding Jim? Nothing looks great on Nirvana, and she looks great in nothing.

Well done Sarge! Trying not to make an Abby Normal joke... must... resist...

You are a good man.

Gravdigr 10-11-2011 03:10 PM

Good on you for standing in Sarge.

Is Abby's Dad in The Sandbox, perhaps? (or worse?)
