Rather late replying to this since I only just read your post, Perth. Don't know how old you are, but I have a very cute friend who is 28 and single. If I ever see you downtown wearing your celler t-shirt, I'll point you out to her. ;)

That sounds fantastic. Just turned 27, and what I lack in the looks department I more than make up for in the self-depricating humour department. :D She's gotta like kids, because not only do I have one, but am one myself.

Y'know, I think I just realised that the only way to meet girls is to leave my house once in a while. Crap. I've been meaning to check out downtown a bit, after 2 years it's probably about time. I think it's gonna take some liquid courage, but I understand downtown has plenty of that.

Undertoad 09-10-2004 03:45 PM

Trust me the online personals is the way to go.

lookout123 09-10-2004 03:47 PM

and barring that - one of my prospects has an escort business in denver.

I've noticed myself that when I sit up here in Manitou in my little cottage, large entourages of new friends and aquaintances do not exactly beat a path to my door. On Friday and Saturday nights you can basicly float down Tejon Street on a river of liquid courage all the way from Tony's to Southside Johnnie's and beyond. I told my friend about you and she seemed interested. I've been trying to get her to join the cellar for ages. Maybe she'll show up down here someday or maybe we'll spot you downtown in your T-shirt. Ya never know! ;)

flippant 09-10-2004 04:30 PM

better late than never

Marichiko does this mean you are going to buy me that T-shirt?

Interesting time for me to decide to show up huh? Weird... :D

Hope I'm not inter-erupting anything. Noo...you don't have to buy me

the shirt....Just gimme the typewriter.

I thought about doing that, but I guess my limited experience, combined with the horror stories I've heard, has made me unduly wary.

Although if I have my Cellar Trivia straight, HP and Brig met that way, and they seem like quite the happy couple.

How much for someone to just go see a movie with me so I don't feel like a chump going alone?

There's an Irish bar I've been meaning to check out down there. And I'm still kicking myself for not going to see Joan Osborne when she played 32 Bleu(?) a while back.

Maybe not so much interesting as embarrassing. Welcome to the Cellar. :)

dude - don't you know that going to a movie alone is a good way to meet someone? all you have to do is pick a movie that females are likely to see together and when you see a couple of women without men you strike up a conversation with the less attractive of the two. (not insinuating that either is unattractive but female friends are very used to idiot guys hitting on the "hot one" and they'll dismiss you) just be honest and let her know that you were interested in seeing the movie but none of your friends wanted to go. just be conversational and there is the strong likelihood that if they think you are sincere they will invite you to sit with them. remember they are friends, not dates. chances are that if none is interested in you they will still like you and hook you up with one of their friends. referrals are always the best.

Griff 09-10-2004 06:16 PM

...and if you really want to be taken for a pussy you should not miss The View ever. Seriously 123, perth is a sweet decent guy, we need non-deceptive ways to hook him up. He's the real deal.

flippant 09-10-2004 06:30 PM

Birthdays come and go.............so fast. I spent my last one watching movies. Sorry about the subject change.....Hey M- where in the heck ARE you?If I could find her I would invite her to the movies with P. ;)

i didn't suggest anything that was deceptive. i suggested something that takes some serious brass ones because you are walking up to people you don't know and being completely honest about the fact that you are looking for a friend to watch a movie with.

Clodfobble 09-10-2004 08:36 PM

I think the deceptive part was pretending he'd ever want to go see a chick flick. :)

Well, if you'd ever get off the damn computer long enough, you might get phone calls from your friends. :eyebrow: No T-shirt for you until you make 100 posts or at least get going on that protest march of yours.

You do indeed have your cellar trivia correct. We met through Match.com. We just had an anniversary a few weeks back. I met a few duds through Match.com and the Yahoo personals before HP but none were scary, they just didn't click well with me in person. Match.com is nice because you can tell it all these search criteria (IE: Views on Religion, Kids, pets, etc) and it will only send you the profiles of the people that fit into the criteria you are looking for. At least that was how they did it a few years ago when I was on it. It might have changed some but probably not much.

As an interesting side note (at least to some) my mom also met someone on Match.com. She decided to give it a try after I had gone out on some dates with guys I had met through it. She has a nice gentleman friend to do stuff with now (and she went out with about 4 or 5 people but none of them clicked like this guy). Neither one is looking for a spouse or committed relationship, they just wanted someone to be able to go to dinner or movies and other activities with. They have been doing stuff with each other for a couple years now and both seem to enjoy the companionship. I only mention that as it might be good for you to find a "friend" to go do stuff with, just to help get you back out and doing things.

I also can offer a testimonial in that regard, with the caveat that you do have to engage in some very careful screening ...

lumberjim 09-19-2004 08:58 AM

perth, if the approaching two women in a dark movie theater is not your bag, you could try the popcorn tub with the hole in the bottom trick?

just remember that it is like sales. it's a numbers game. ask out everyone you think you might like to go out with. especially the really hot ones. one of them will eventually say yes, it will get easier to ask, etc. you're cool, you'll find a woman.

OnyxCougar 09-20-2004 07:41 AM

Is this a good time to bring up that I haven't received my two other shirts yet? And my address has changed, so PM me when they are ready, please! :)

Undertoad 09-20-2004 07:44 AM

It's up to whether LJ's T-shirt guy EVER gets back to us! At some point refunds will be in order!

OnyxCougar 09-20-2004 07:52 AM

OK, T, no problem, just wondering.... I'm giving the shirt I ordered to my daughter so she can be the coolest girl in Shreveport! This means I don't have one, and I really wanna wear one to work....

LabRat 09-20-2004 11:35 AM

What is the status on any leftover shirts for those of us potentially interested? thanks.

Undertoad 09-20-2004 11:44 AM

I have a bunch of extra black shirts, but we should wait for the final word on whether the remaining order will be filled.

lookout123 09-20-2004 12:14 PM

let us know, i'd be interested in a shirt.

Elspode 09-20-2004 07:03 PM

Any hope for Selene and my shirts? If it is going to be a major problem, don't go googoo trying to do anything about it. The Cellar is worth the price of the shirts any day.

lumberjim 09-20-2004 09:17 PM

i have given up. sorry, but i dont have the time to deal with it at this point. i have given tony the printer's contact info, and dumped the whole thing uncerimoniously into his lap (sorry, tony). sorry everyone that got let down. i'd advise that UT give the fuckees first dibs on what he has in stock. $.02

I wore my tshirt to the pub (= bar) this weekend and it generated two comments ("What's that about, then?").
I'm looking forward to the day when a stranger in my local taps me on the shoulder and says ... "You're a dwellar too?".

wolf 10-01-2004 11:04 PM

We had a lovely little cluster at The Point tonight ... I wore mine "just because" ... I hadn't gotten the official memo.

Of course, "Just Because" also translates to "I'm a professional psychic, and I caught the energy."

Lemme tell you, we looked REALLY cool.

zippyt 10-29-2004 11:11 PM

UT ,
Dude we are STILL short 2 royal blue short sleve large shirts , my wife will settle for 2 black large short sleve shirts .

Undertoad 10-30-2004 08:15 AM

I am starting to send out black shirts to make up for the missing ones... Zip has just reserved his two, who else wants black replacements and who wants a refund?

Are there any 4x short sleeves?

Undertoad 10-30-2004 03:06 PM

No, I think it's only M L XL XXL.

xoxoxoBruce 10-30-2004 05:13 PM

Rich, I'll bet you could wear a 2xl, they're super big. :)

wolf 10-30-2004 10:42 PM

After everybody is taken care of, I might want in on another one or two ...

lookout123 10-30-2004 11:09 PM

after all the prepaid folks are satisfied i would also like a crack at one.

Elspode 10-31-2004 09:14 AM

I would take a black 2X as a makeup, but I do not want a refund in any event, shirt or no shirt.

flippant 11-16-2004 10:20 PM

Hi I like this place....I would like to get one for myself and possibly Mari. (if she's good) Can you notify me on the details if/when shirts are available?

does shreveport still have the minor league baseball team or was that taken away because of the huricane?

nyet 05-09-2006 09:51 PM

looks like shreveport does still have a team in the american association. called the shreveport "sports". that is an uncreative name. ;)

rkzenrage 05-09-2006 10:02 PM

May I ask what is available in 3x.

What's with the teeth phobia/fetish? Haven't you ever been gummed numb? ;)

DucksNuts 05-12-2006 08:52 PM

Err, definitely not a festish...lets just say...I've had an unpleasant, but seriously amusing (in hindsight), experience.

Gummed numb..hmmm..I know I havent led a sheltered life, but havent been down that particular road :D
