Brand New - Play Crack the Sky. I basically had this song on repeat after one particularly bad breakup like a fuckin emo kid. But the lyrics can still get me.
"Play Crack The Sky" We sent out the SOS call. It was a quarter past four in the morning when the storm broke our second anchor line. Four months at sea, four months of calm seas to be pounded in the shallows off the tip of Montauk Point. They call them rogues, they travel fast and alone. One-hundred-foot faces of God's good ocean gone wrong. What they call love is a risk to always get hit out of nowhere by some wave and end up on your own. The hole in the hull defied the crews attempts to bail us out. And flooded the engines and radio and half buried bow. Your tongue is a rudder. It steers the whole ship. Sends your words past your lips or keeps them safe behind your teeth. But the wrong words will strand you. Come off course while you sleep. Sweep your boat out to sea or dashed to bits on the reef. The vessel groans the ocean pressures its frame. To the port I see the lighthouse through the sleet and rain. And I wish for one more day to give my love and repay debts. But the morning finds our bodies washed up thirty miles west. They say that the captain stays fast with the ship through still and storm. But this ain't the Dakota, and the water is cold. We won't have to fight for long. This is the end. This story's old but it goes on and on until we disappear. Calm me and let me taste the salt you breathed while you were underneath. I am the one who haunts your dreams of mountains sunk below the sea. I spoke the words but never gave a thought to what they all could mean. I know that this is what you want. A funeral keeps both of us apart. You know that you are not alone. Need you like water in my lungs. |
Yeah...I did the same with 'love hurts' by Nazareth after I broke up with my ex. It was pathetic really. Particularly when the 'tape' belonged to him and he came to collect it and I still wanted to listen to it but didn't want to admit I had been. lol

I'll vote for almost the entire Ani DiFranco corpus. There's too much to put here. And she plays some mighty good guitar.

The Ballad Of Bilbo Baggins
The Ballad of Bilbo Baggins
Composed by Charles R. Grean Sung by Leonard Nimoy In the middle of the earth in the land of the Shire lives a brave little hobbit whom we all admire. With his long wooden pipe, fuzzy, woolly toes, he lives in a hobbit-hole and everybody knows him Bilbo! Bilbo! Bilbo Baggins He's only three feet tall Bilbo! Bilbo! Bilbo Baggins The bravest little hobbit of them all Now hobbits are a peace-lovin' folks you know They don't like to hurry and they take things slow They don't like to travel away from home They just want to eat and be left alone But one day Bilbo was asked to go on a big adventure to the caves below, to help some dwarves get back their gold that was stolen by a dragon in the days of old. Bilbo! Bilbo! Bilbo Baggins He's only three feet tall Bilbo! Bilbo! Bilbo Baggins The bravest little hobbit of them all Well he fought with the goblins! He battled a troll!! He riddled with Gollum!!! A magic ring he stole!!!! He was chased by wolves!!!!! Lost in the forest!!!!!! Escaped in a barrel from the elf-king's halls!!!!!!! Bilbo! Bilbo! Bilbo Baggins The bravest little hobbit of them all Now he's back in his hole in the land of the Shire, that brave little hobbit whom we all admire, just a-sittin' on a treasure of silver and gold a-puffin' on his pipe in his hobbit-hole. Bilbo! Bilbo! Bilbo Baggins He's only three feet tall Bilbo! Bilbo! Bilbo Baggins The bravest little hobbit of them all |
Saw the video a few years ago. Very 1960s. Very silly.

OneRepublic - Apologize
I'm holding on your rope, Got me ten feet off the ground I'm hearin what you say but I just can't make a sound You tell me that you need me Then you go and cut me down, but wait You tell me that you're sorry Didn't think I'd turn around, and say... It's too late to apologize, it's too late I said it's too late to apologize, it's too late I'd take another chance, take a fall Take a shot for you And I need you like a heart needs a beat But it's nothin new I loved you with a fire red- Now it's turning blue, and you say... "Sorry" like the angel heaven let me think was you But I'm afraid... It's too late to apologize, it's too late I said it's too late to apologize, it's too late Bridge (guitar/piano) It's too late to apologize, it's too late I said it's too late to apologize, it's too late It's too late to apologize, yeah I said it's too late to apologize, yeah- I'm holdin on your rope, got me ten feet off the ground... I love the music to this - |
These people purposely obscure their lyrics....ha.....this is what they are really saying:
Hot stuff you dirty Irish!! My Bloody Valentine Lyrics Soft As Snow (But Warm Inside) Lyrics Soft as snow but warm inside Penetrate you cannot hide Feeling lost forever Really need you Feeling dark and feeling true This is all I ever knew Soft as skin in leather And I whisper 'you' Harder you come down on me Sink away you look happily Secrets keep forever They're undressing me Come inside it's warm in here Better now to have no fear Carried on a wave (Where it can lead) you Touch your head, then your hair Softer, softer everywhere Fingertips are burning Can I touch you there Soft as velvet eyes can see Bring me close to ecstacy High away to heaven And I'm coming too Float now coming down on me Handed you what I cannot see Feel the big happy, you're exploding me Soft as snow and warm inside Penetrate then redivide Slip away forever (Do we) need you A lot of their songs are dirty. I love it!! |

I Don't Wanna Change The World
I Don't Wanna Change The World - Ozzy Osbourne
Standing on the crossroads, world spinning round and round Know which way I'm going, you can't bring me down Don't you try and teach me no original sin I don't need your pity for the shape I'm in CHORUS I don't wanna change the world I don't want the world to change me I don't want to change the world I don't want the world to change me Tell me I'm a sinner I got news for you I spoke to God this morning and he don't like you You telling all the people the original sin He says he knowsyou better than you'll ever know him CHORUS You know it ain't easy You know it ain't fair So don't try to please me Because I really don't care Don't tell me stories 'cause yesterday's glories Have gone away, so far away I've heard it said there's a light up ahead Lord I hope and pray I'm here to stay Tell me I'm a sinner I got news for you I spoke to God this morning and he don't like you Don't you try and teach me no original sin I don't need your pity for the shape I'm in CHORUS |
DARN THAT DREAM
Benny Goodman - words by Eddie Delange Darn that dream I dream each night You say you love me and you hold me tight But when I awake, you're out of sight Oh, darn that dream Darn your lips and darn your eyes They lift me high above the moonlit skies Then I tumble out of paradise Oh, darn that dream Darn that one-track mind of mine I can't understand that you don't care Just to change the mood I'm in I'd welcome a nice old nightmare Darn that dream and bless it too Without that dream, I never would have you But it haunts me and it won't come true Oh, darn that dream |
A song came on the radio that I haven't heard in ages. It was doing the rounds when me and J were beginning to realise it was over. It was the soundtrack to a car ad and ended up a fairly bg hit. It has a strange and melancholic tune. Very sweet.
J told me once it made him think of me. Then as we were in the middle of the break up it seemed to be on every radio play list. Its on my list of songs I still can't listen to without filling up. This and Radiohead's No Surpsies are atthe top of that little list. Aqualung: Strange and Beautiful. I've been watching your world from afar, I've been trying to be where you are, And I've been secretly falling apart, I'll see. To me, you're strange and you're beautiful, You'd be so perfect with me but you just can't see, You turn every head but you don't see me. I'll put a spell on you, You'll fall asleep and I'll put a spell on you. And when I wake you, I'll be the first thing you see, And you'll realise that you love me. Yeah... Yeah... Sometimes, the last thing you want comes in first, Sometimes, the frist thing you want never comes, And I know, the waiting is all you can do, Sometimes... I'll put a spell on you, You'll fall asleep, I'll put a spell on you, And when I wake you, I'll be the first thing you see, And you'll realise that you love me. I'll put a spell on you, You'll fall asleep 'cos I'll put a spell on you, And when I wake you, I'll be the first thing you see, And you'll realise that you love me, yeah... yeah... yeah... yeah... yeah... |
This one always gets to me:
Here a pay There a pay Everywhere a co-pay Oh yes Anthem stole my arm Ee I ee I oh :lol2: I slay me! |

I **swear** it said Jethro Tull. Of course, it does not. I feel better for not having missed a track but I feel worse for having forgotten how to read. /oldfart |
What precedes these lines can be, I think, taken as read. It's all magnificent. The very last choral lines of the Ode an die Freude:
"Seid umschlungen, Goetterfunken, Goetter-funken!" [Prestissimo] |
Seven Years
Obviously chicky - but, woke me up from misery after a breakup that was long overdue. :eek:
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ How did I love you? There was no measuring Far above this dirty world Far above everything In your tower over it You were clean So warm and insightful Were you in my eyes I was sure the rightful Guardian of my life Damn you betrayer How you lied But for seven years You were loved I laid golden orchid crowns Around your feet For seven years I bowed down To touch the ground So wholly your devotee You were All that I could see I've got my sight now I see everything you hid So don't you try to right now All the wrong you did I might forget you But not forgive But for seven years You were loved I laid golden orchid crowns Around your feet For seven years I bowed down To touch the ground So wholly your devotee For seven years You were so revered I made offerings of Anything and everything I had You were All that I could see ~Natalie Merchant |
Old 97's
The Empty Bottle was half empty, tide was low, and I was thirsty.
Saw her sitting at the bar, you know how some girls are, Always making eyes, well she wasn't making eyes. So I sidled up beside her, settled down and shouted, "Hi there." "My name's Stewart Ransom Miller, I'm a serial lady-killer." She said, "I'm already dead," that's exactly what she said. So we tripped the lights fantastic, we was both made of elastic. Midnight came and midnight went, and I thought I was the President. She said, "Do you have a car," and I said, "Do I have a car?" What's so great about the Barrier Reef? What's so fine about art? What's so good about a Good Times Van, When you're working on a broken, Working on a broken, Working on a broken man? When you're working on a broken, Working on a broken, Working on a broken man? My heart wasn't in it, not for one single minute. I went through the motions with her. Her on top, and me on liquor. Didn't do no good, well I didn't think it would. What's so great about the Barrier Reef? What's so fine about art? What's so good about a Good Times Van, When you're working on a broken, Working on a broken, Working on a broken man? --Barrier Reef |
A Woman's Love -- Alan Jackson (Dedicated to Tink)
I have felt it,
And I have held it, I have known, A woman's love. I have tasted, And I have wasted, A woman's love. (chorus) And I know, I know I'll never understand, All the little things that make it grand, A woman's love. And I know, I know I'll never come face to face, With anything that takes the place, Of a woman's love. Well I have kissed it, Tried to resist it, I have missed, A woman's love. And I have hated, Taken for granted, A woman's love. (chorus) And I know, I know I'll never understand, All the little things that make it grand, A woman's love. And I know, I know I'll never come face to face, With anything that takes the place, Of a woman's love. Well I have needed, And I have pleaded, And I have lost, A woman's love. And I have worshiped, And I have cursed it, A woman's love. (chorus) And I know, I know I'll never understand, All the little things that make it grand, A woman's love. And I know, I know I'll never come face to face, With anything that takes the place, Of a woman's love. |
That might be obvious, but for years I thought this was a description of someone's father having an affair, overseas while in the military, and this mysterious lady becomes pregnant (the flowers bloom where you have placed them).
Yes We Can (Barak Obama Song)
Yes We Can (Barack Obama Song) -- Will.I.Am It was a creed written into the founding documents that declared the destiny of a nation. Yes we can. It was whispered by slaves and abolitionists as they blazed a trail toward freedom. Yes we can. Yes we can. It was sung by immigrants as they struck out from distant shores and pioneers who pushed westward against an unforgiving wilderness. Yes we can. Yes we can. It was the call of workers who organized; women who reached for the ballots; a President who chose the moon as our new frontier; and a King who took us to the mountain-top and pointed the way to the Promised Land. Yes we can to justice and equality. (yes we can, yes we can, yes we can, yes we can...) Yes we can to opportunity and prosperity. Yes we can to opportunity and prosperity. Yes we can heal this nation. Yes we can repair this world. Yes we can. Si Se Puede (yes we can, yes we can, yes we can, yes we can...) We know the battle ahead will be long, but always remember that no matter what obstacles stand in our way, nothing can stand in the way of the power of millions of voices calling for change. We want change! (We want change! We want change! We want change...) We have been told we cannot do this by a chorus of cynics who will only grow louder and more dissonant. We've been asked to pause for a reality check. We've been warned against offering the people of this nation false hope. But in the unlikely story that is America, there has never been anything false about hope. We want change! (We want change! I want change! We want change! I want change...) The hopes of the little girl who goes to a crumbling school in Dillon are the same as the dreams of the boy who learns on the streets of LA; we will remember that there is something happening in America; that we are not as divided as our politics suggests; that we are one people; we are one nation; and together, we will begin the next great chapter in America's story with three words that will ring from coast to coast; from sea to shining sea - Yes. We. Can. (yes we can, yes we can, yes we can, yes we can, yes we can, yes we can, yes we can, yes we can...) |
And if its bad Dont let it get you down You can take it And if it hurts Dont let them see you cry You can make it Just hold your head up woman Hold your head up woman Hold your head up woman Hold your head high Hold your head up woman Hold your head up woman Hold your head up woman Hold your head high And if they stare, just let them Burn their eyes on you moving And if they shout, dont let it change A thing that youre doing Hold your head up ... |
I've had one desire since I was born To see my body ripped and torn To see my flesh devoured before my eyes I'm here for you I volunteer as a human sacrifice [CHORUS] Carve me up, slice me apart Suck my guts, lick my heart Chop me up I like to be hurt Drink my marrow and blood for dessert EATEN... My one desire, my only wish is to be-- EATEN... The longer I live the more I'm dying to feel the pain EATEN... I would do anything to be-- EATEN... My one desire, my only wish is to be-- EATEN... I finally found you, my personal slaughter As an appetizer, I let you taste my daughter Call me sick but this is what I need My only purpose here is for you to feed Desecrate me Tear me limb from limb Eviscerate me Chew me to death |
Now,for one of mine...Arch Enemy - Carry The Cross
We walk through the ages
The world on our shoulders A burden we carry To the dark end of our days A thousand eyes watching Every step we are taking Waiting to see us Struggle and fall And when we are beaten The cross holds us down I hear them laughing And walking away Carry the cross And suffer the loss Hear my confession Forever damnation Reincarnation Bleeding forever Recover in pain Pain gives me strength Pick up the cross And carry it on Over and over The wheel turns again And when we are beaten The cross holds us down I hear them laughing And walking away Carry the cross And suffer the loss Hear my confession Forever damnation |
Mercy Now
Mary Gauthier My father could use a little mercy now The fruits of his labor Fall and rot slowly on the ground His work is almost over It won't be long and he won't be around I love my father, and he could use some mercy now My brother could use a little mercy now He's a stranger to freedom He's shackled to his fears and doubts The pain that he lives in is Almost more than living will allow I love my bother, and he could use some mercy now My church and my country could use a little mercy now As they sink into a poisoned pit That's going to take forever to climb out They carry the weight of the faithful Who follow them down I love my church and country, and they could use some mercy now Every living thing could use a little mercy now Only the hand of grace can end the race Towards another mushroom cloud People in power, well They'll do anything to keep their crown I love life, and life itself could use some mercy now Yeah, we all could use a little mercy now I know we don't deserve it But we need it anyhow We hang in the balance Dangle 'tween hell and hallowed ground Every single one of us could use some mercy now Every single one of us could use some mercy now Every single one of us could use some mercy now I was listening to an acoustic station and to my suprise they played a country song. The lyrics were right on. |
Pass The Flame -- John Elefante
Three a.m. - a baby boy; a new life began
I held him in my arms and knew one day he'd be a man And soon I'd have to tell him that this world is not our home We must give our lives to Jesus; we are not our own But for now just let me hold you, a little while Let me adore you while you sleep Thank You, Lord, for such an angel Make him Yours to keep And then I whispered in his ear There is something you must hear Any way the wind blows Don't you think that God knows We must pass the flame We must pass the flame We are the light in a darkened world We are the fire on the arrow We must pass the flame We must pass the flame She was a portrait of innocence I took her by the hand For better or for worse we vowed that with Jesus we'd stand We would instill upon our children that this world is not our home We would tell them that our treasure is the promise that we own But for now just let me hold you a little while Let me adore you while you sleep Thank You, Lord, for such an angel Make them Yours to keep So let me whisper in your ear There is something you must hear And Lord, help us teach Your children well And turn embers in to fire Make Your love their soul desire The doctors came into the room; the news was not too good I said, "Daddy, if I could take your place, you know that I would." He said, "Son, please don't worry go and be there for your wife You know we'll be together in an everlasting life." Then I said, "Dad, I want to hold you a little while Let me adore you while you sleep." Thank You, Lord, for such an angel Take him home to keep And then he whispered in my ear There is something you must hear Any way the wind blows Don't you think that God knows We must pass the flame We must pass the flame We are the light in a darkened world We are the fire on the arrow We must pass the flame We must pass the flame |
Cowboy Dan. Don't Blink -- Kenny Chesney
I turned on the evening news
Saw a old man being interviewed Turning a hundred and two today Asked him what's the secret to life He looked up from his old pipe Laughed and said "All I can say is." Don't blink Just like that you're six years old and you take a nap and you Wake up and you're twenty-five and your high school sweetheart becomes your wife Don't blink You just might miss your babies growing like mine did Turning into moms and dads next thing you know your "better half" Of fifty years is there in bed And you're praying God takes you instead Trust me friend a hundred years goes faster than you think So don't blink I was glued to my tv when it looked like he looked at me and said "Best start putting first things first." Cause when your hourglass runs out of sand You can't flip it over and start again Take every breathe God gives you for what it's worth Don't Blink Just like that you're six years old and you take a nap and you Wake up and you're twenty-five and your high school sweetheart becomes your wife Don't blink You just might miss your babies growing like mine did Turning into moms and dads next thing you know your "better half" Of fifty years is there in bed And you're praying God takes you instead Trust me friend a hundred years goes faster than you think So don't blink So I've been tryin' ta slow it down I've been tryin' ta take it in In this here today, gone tomorrow world we're livin' in Don't blink Just like that you're six years old and you take a nap and you Wake up and you're twenty-five and your high school sweetheart becomes your wife Don't blink You just might miss your babies growing like mine did Turning into moms and dads next thing you know your "better half" Of fifty years is there in bed And you're praying God takes you instead Trust me friend a hundred years goes faster then you think So Don't blink Naw, don't blink, don't blink Life Goes Faster Than You Think Don't Blink... |
You're Gonna Miss This -- Trace Adkins
She was staring out the window of their SUV
Complaining, saying "I can't wait to turn 18" She said "I'll make my own money, and I'll make my own rules" Mamma put the car in park out there in front of the school Then she kissed her head and said "I was just like you" You're gonna miss this You're gonna want this back You're gonna wish these days hadn't gone by so fast These are some good times So take a good look around You may not know it now But you're gonna miss this Before she knows it she's a brand new bride In a one-bedroom apartment, and her daddy stops by He tells her "It's a nice place" She says "It'll do for now" Starts talking about babies and buying a house Daddy shakes his head and says "Baby, just slow down" Cause you're gonna miss this You're gonna want this back You're gonna wish these days hadn't gone by so fast These are some good times So take a good look around You may not know it now But you're gonna miss this Five years later there's a plumber workin' on the water heater Dog's barkin', phone's ringin' One kid's cryin', one kid's screamin' And she keeps apologizin' He says "They don't bother me. I've got 2 babies of my own. One's 36, one's 23. Huh, it's hard to believe, but... You're gonna miss this You're gonna want this back You're gonna wish these days hadn't gone by so fast These are some good times So take a good look around You may not know it now But you're gonna miss this |
Flint, my friend, new dad, I mean to get this across to you, too.
These songs *clamor* in my mind and my heart. I'm maybe a page ahead of you in the same book. Our "babies" are 21, 19, and 13. I sit here at my desk, looking at my right hand. I am holding it, palm up, looking at my empty palm. And I see our youngest's head cradled there, his rump not even reaching the crook of my elbow. I can feel the warmth of his head, his wispy baby hair tickling my fingers. He turned 13 last week. We've been deployed on our final tour to the Teenage Zone. That's what you get when you blink. Pass the damn tissues. |
DON'T TALK
Natalie Merchant / Christian Burial Music © 1987 don't talk, I will listen don't talk, you keep your distance I'd rather hear some truth tonight than entertain your lies take your poison silently let me be, let me close my eyes don't talk, I'll believe it don't talk, listen to me instead I know that if you think of it both long enough and hard it's the drink you drown your troubles in is the trouble you're in now talk, talk, talk about it you talk as if you care but when your talk is over tilt that bottle in the air tossing back more than your share don't talk, I can guess it don't talk, well now you're restless and you need somewhere to put the blame for how you feel inside you'll look for a close and easy mark and you'll see me as fair game talk, talk, talk about it talk as if you care but when your talk is over tilt that bottle in the air tossing back more than your share you talk talk talk about it you talk as if you care. I'm marking every word and I can tell this time for sure your talk is the finest I have heard don't talk, let me go on dreaming how your eyes they glow so fiercely I can tell you're inspired by the name you just chose for me now what was it? o, never mind we will talk, talk, talk about this when your head is clear I'll discuss this in the morning but until then you may talk but I won't hear |
Landslide by Fleetwood Mac does that to me, every time! I almost started bawling just copying the lyrics:
I took my love, I took it down Climbed a mountain and I turned around I saw my reflection in the snow covered hills till the landslide brought me down Oh, mirror in the sky What is love Can the child within my heart rise above Can I sail thru the changing ocean tides Can I handle the seasons of my life Well, Ive been afraid of changing cause Ive built my life around you But time makes you bolder Children get older Im getting older too Oh, take my love, take it down Climb a mountain and turn around If you see my reflection in the snow covered hills Well the landslide will bring it down If you see my reflection in the snow covered hills Well maybe the landslide will bring it down |
You're dangerous 'cause you're honest You're dangerous, you don't know what you want Well you left my heart empty as a vacant lot For any spirit to haunt Hey hey sha la la Hey hey You're an accident waiting to happen You're a piece of glass left there on the beach Well you tell me things I know you're not supposed to Then you leave me just out of reach Hey hey sha la la Hey hey sha la la Who's gonna ride your wild horses Who's gonna drown in your blue sea Who's gonna ride your wild horses Who's gonna fall at the foot of thee Well you stole it 'cause I needed the cash And you killed it 'cause I wanted revenge Well you lied to me 'cause I asked you to Baby, can we still be friends Hey hey sha la la Hey hey sha la la Who's gonna ride your wild horses Who's gonna drown in your blue sea Who's gonna ride your wild horses Who's gonna fall at the foot of thee Oh, the deeper I spin Oh, the hunter will sin for your ivory skin Took a drive in the dirty rain To a place where the wind calls your name Under the trees the river laughing at you and me Hallelujah, heavens white rose The doors you open I just can't close Don't turn around, don't turn around again Don't turn around, your gypsy heart Don't turn around, don't turn around again Don't turn around, and don't look back Come on now love, don't you look back Who's gonna ride your wild horses Who's gonna drown in your blue sea Who's gonna taste your salt water kisses Who's gonna take the place of me Who's gonna ride your wild horses Who's gonna tame the heart of thee psst.. I actually like Coldplay and Lifehouse better. but if you want to know what I think amazing lyircs are then I say Opeth and Amorphis have some really poignant ones. |
Hope Leaves
-Opeth In the corner beside my window There hangs a lonely photograph There is no reason I'd never notice A memory that could hold me back There is a wound that's always bleeding There is a road I'm always walking And I know you'll never return to this place Gone through days without talking There is a comfort in silence So used to losing all ambition Struggling to maintain what's left Once undone, there is only smoke Burning in my eyes to blind To cover up what really happened Force the darkness unto me |
I must be feeling introspective today. I may have posted these before, but I love the metaphor of these lyrics:
Barenaked Ladies (Ed Robertson---swoon!) If I Should Fall I look straight in the window, try not to look below Pretend I'm not up here, try counting sheep But the sheep seem to shower off this office tower It’s nine-point-eight straight down, I can't stop my knees Chorus: I wish I could fly From this building From this wall And if I should try Would you catch me if I fall? My hands clench the squeegee, my secular rosary Hang on to your wallet, hang on to your rings I can't look below me, or something to throw me I curse at the windstorms that October brings I look in the boardroom; a modern pharaoh's tomb I'd gladly swap places, if they care to dive They're lined up at the window, peer down into limbo They're frightened of jumping, in case they survive I wish I could step from this scaffold Onto soft green pastures, shopping malls, or bed With my family and my pastor and my grandfather who's dead Look straight in the mirror, watch it come clearer I look like a painter, behind all the grease But painting's creating, and I'm just erasing A crystal-clear canvas is my masterpiece (Chorus) (Chorus) When I fall When I fall |
Haven't laughed this hard in a long time
I better stop now before I start crying Go off to sleep in the sunshine I don't want to see the day when it's dying She's a sight to see, she's good to me I'm already somebody's baby She's a pretty thing and she knows everything But I'm already somebody's baby You don't deserve to be lonely But those drugs you got won't make you feel better Pretty soon you'll find it's the only Little part of your life you're keeping together I'm nice to you, I could make it through That you're already somebody's baby I could make you smile if you stayed a while But how long will you stay with me baby Because your candle burns too bright Well, I almost forgot it was twilight Even if I think that you are right Well, I'm tired of being down, I got no fight You're wonderful, when it's beautiful But I'm already somebody's baby And if I went with you I'd disappoint you too Well, I'm already somebody's baby Already somebody's baby Twilight - Elliott Smith |
This goes with my current state of bummed-out-ness....
Dust in the Wind I close my eyes only for a moment and the moment's gone all my dreams pass before my eyes a curiosity dust in the wind all we are is dust in the wind Same old song just a drop of water in the endless sea all we do crumbles to the ground though we refuse to see dust in the wind all we are is dust in the wind Now, don't hang on nothing last forever but the earth and sky it slips away And all your money won't another minute buy Dust in the wind all we are is dust in the wind dust in the wind everything is dust in the wind |
I. overture
Words and music by geddy lee, alex lifeson, and neil peart And the meek shall inherit the earth. Ii. the temples of syrinx Words by neil peart, music by geddy lee and alex lifeson ... the massive grey walls of the temples rise from the Heart of every federation city. I have always been awed By them, to think that every single facet of every life is Regulated and directed from within! our books, our music, Our work and play are all looked after by the benevolent Wisdom of the priests... Weve taken care of everything The words you hear the songs you sing The pictures that give pleasure to your eyes Its one for all and all for one We work together common sons Never need to wonder how or why We are the priests of the temples of syrinx Our great computers fill the hallowed halls We are the priests of the temples of syrinx All the gifts of life are held within our walls Look around this world we made Equality our stock in trade Come and join the brotherhood of man Oh what a nice contented world Let the banners be unfurled Hold the red star proudly high in hand We are the priests of the temples of syrinx Our great computers fill the hallowed halls. We are the priests of the temples of syrinx All the gifts of life are held within our walls. Iii. discovery Words by neil peart, music by alex lifeson ... behind my beloved waterfall, in the little room that was Hidden beneath the cave, I found it. I brushed away the Dust of the years, and picked it up, holding it reverently in My hands. I had no idea what it might be, but it was Beautiful ... ... I learned to lay my fingers across the wires, and to turn The keys to make them sound differently. as I struck the Wires with my other hand, I produced my first harmonious Sounds, and soon my own music! how different it could Be from the music of the temples! I cant wait to tell the Priests about it! ... What can this strange device be? When I touch it, it gives forth a sound Its got wires that vibrate and give music What can this thing be that I found? See how it sings like a sad heart And joyously screams out its pain Sounds that build high like a mountain Or notes that fall gently like rain I cant wait to share this new wonder The people will all see its light Let them all make their own music The priests praise my name on this night Iv. presentation Words by neil peart, music by alex lifeson ... in the sudden silence as I finished playing, I looked up To a circle of grim, expressionless faces. father brown Rose to his feet, and his somnolent voice echoed Throughout the silent temple hall. ... ... instead of the grateful joy that I expected, they were Words of quiet rejection! instead of praise, sullen Dismissal. I watched in shock and horror as father brown Ground my precious instrument to splinters beneath his Feet... I know its most unusual To come before you so But Ive found an ancient miracle I thought that you should know Listen to my music And hear what it can do Theres something here as strong as life I know that it will reach you Yes, we know its nothing new Its just a waste of time We have no need for ancient ways The world is doing fine Another toy will help destroy The elder race of man Forget about your silly whim It doesnt fit the plan I cant believe youre saying These things just cant be true Our world could use this beauty Just think what we might do Listen to my music And hear what it can do Theres something here as strong as life I know that it will reach you Dont annoy us further We have our work to do Just think about the average What use have they for you? Another toy will help destroy The elder race of man Forget about your silly whim It doesnt fit the plan V. oracle: the dream Words by neil peart, music by geddy lee and alex lifeson ... I guess it was a dream, but even now it all seems so Vivid to me. clearly yet I see the beckoning hand of the Oracle as he stood at the summit of the staircase ... ... I see still the incredible beauty of the sculptured cities And the pure spirit of man revealed in the lives and works Of this world. I was overwhelmed by both wonder and Understanding as I saw a completely different way to life, A way that had been crushed by the federation long ago. i Saw now how meaningless life had become with the loss Of all these things ... I wandered home though silent streets And fell into a fitful sleep Escape to realms beyond the night Dream cant you show me the light? I stand atop a spiral stair An oracle confronts me there He leads me on light years away Through astral nights, galactic days I see the works of gifted hands That grace this strange and wondrous land I see the hand of man arise With hungry mind and open eyes They left the planets long ago The elder race still learn and grow Their power grows with purpose strong To claim the home where they belong Home, to tear the temples down... Home, to change.. Vi. soliloquy Words by neil peart, music by geddy lee and alex lifeson ... I have not left this cave for days now, it has become My last refuge in my total despair. I have only the music of The waterfall to comfort me now. I can no longer live Under the control of the federation, but there is no other Place to go. my last hope is that with my death I may pass Into the world of my dream, and know peace at last. The sleep is still in my eyes The dream is still in my head I heave a sigh and sadly smile And lie a while in bed I wish that it might come to pass Not fade like all my dreams Just think of what my life might be In a world like I have seen I dont think I can carry on Carry on this cold and empty life Oh...noo! My spirits are low in the depths of despair My lifeblood spills over.. Vii. grand finale Music by geddy lee, alex lifeson, and neil peart Attention all planets of the solar federation Attention all planets of the solar federation Attention all planets of the solar federation We have assumed control. We have assumed control. We have assumed control. |
This song was based on Anthem by Ann Ran
|
Ayn Rand?
;) |
OH, I love that song:
"And Ann ran, she ran so far away She ran all night and day She couldn't get away.":p |
Can't post the darn video...so here's the lyrics. Heard over the weekend to remind my why I love The Pretenders.
Don't get me wrong If I'm looking kind of dazzled I see neon lights Whenever you walk by Don't get me wrong If you say "Hello" and I take a ride Upon a sea where the mystic moon Is playing havoc with the tide Don't get me wrong Don't get me wrong If I'm acting so distracted I'm thinking about the fireworks That go off when you smile Don't get me wrong If I split like light refracted I'm only off to wander Across a moonlit mile Once in awhile Two people meet Seemingly for no reason They just pass on the street Suddenly thunder, showers everywhere Who can explain the thunder and rain But there's something in the air Don't get me wrong If I come and go like fashion I might be great tomorrow But hopeless yesterday Don't get me wrong If I fall in the "mode of passion" It might be unbelievable But let's not say "so long" It might just be fantastic Don't get me wrong |
My husband and I sang this to each other for our wedding vows...so this song and its lyrics mean alot to me and always will
Staind "Right Here" I know I've been mistaken But just give me a break and see the changes that I've made I've got some imperfections But how can you collect them all and throw them in my face But you always find a way to keep me right here waiting You always find the words to say to keep me right here waiting And if you chose to walk away I'd still be right here waiting Searching for the things to say to keep you right here waiting I hope you're not intending To be so condescending it's as much as i can take and you're so independent you just refuse to bend so I keep bending till I break But you always find a way to keep me right here waiting You always find the words to say to keep me right here waiting And if you chose to walk away I'd still be right here waiting Searching for the things to say to keep you right here waiting I've made a commitment I'm willing to bleed for you I needed fulfillment I found what I need in you Why can't you just forgive me I don't want to relive all the mistakes I've made along the way But I always find a way to keep you right here waiting I always find the words to say to keep you right here waiting But you always find a way To keep me right here waiting You always find the words to say to keep me right here waiting And if I chose to walk away would you be right here waiting Searching for the things to say to keep me right here waiting |
Suite Madame Blue
Time after time I sit and I wait for your call I know Im a fool what can I say Whatever the price Ill pay for you, madame blue Once long ago, one word from your lips and the world turned around But somehow you've changed, you're so far away I long for the past and dream of the days with you, madame blue Suite madame blue, gaze in your looking glass You're not a child anymore Suite madame blue, the future is all but past Dressed in your jewels, you made your own rules You conquered the world and more ..............heavens door America....america...america..america.. America....america...america..america.. America....america...america..america.. Red white and blue, gaze in your looking glass You're not a child anymore Red, white, and blue, the future is all but past So lift up your heart, make a new start And lead us away from here |
If Everyone Was Listening
The actors and jesters are here The stage is in darkness and clear For raising the curtain And no-ones quite certain whose play it is How long ago, how long If only we had listened thein. If wed known just how right we were going to be. For we dreamed a lot And we schemed a lot And we tried to sing of love before the stage fell apart. If everyone was listening you know Thered be a chance that we could save the show Wholl be the last clown To bring the house down? Oh no, please no, dont let the curtain fall Well, what is your costume today? Who are the props in your play? Youre acting a part which you thought from the start Was an honest one. Well how do you plead? An actor indeed! Go re-learn your lines, You dont know what youve done The finales begun. If everyone was listening you know Thered be a chance that we could save the show, Wholl be the last clown To bring the house down? Oh no, please no, dont let the curtain fall. |
to the tune of George Srait's "Carrying your love with Me"
I guess maybe I could go downtown I might get lucky and find some brown dirt weed I'll be sure to save the seeds to plant next year...... I'm carrying my drugs with me I got busted down in Tennessee For selling cocaine and LSD..... Carrying my drugs with me. |
Which one are you?
Zodiac Words by Richie Havens There is a secret that has been kept from man 2,000 years There is a secret that has been kept from man 2,000 years And that secret is that there are only twelve people on the earth at any given time That there are only twelve people on the earth at any given time And these people have been symbolized Down through the ages of mankind, by many symbols They were called: Twelve tribes of Israel Twelve sons of Jacob Twelve gates of Heaven Twelve inches in a foot Twelve months to the year Twelve men on the jury Twelve days of Christmas Twelve disciples of Jesus Christ Twelve manners of fruit on the tree by the side of the river Good for the healing of all nations Good for the healing of all nations And these people are And these people are: Aries, who is....I am, ain't I? Taurus, who is...I have, don't I? Gemini, who is...I think, I think... I think so much I wish I could stop thinking Cancer, who is...I feel, I feel, and there are no words to describe how I feel Leo, who is...I will, o'er my will Virgo, who is....I analyze, I analyze Libra, who is...I balance, I balance, I balance between those who know and those who do not know Scorpio, who is...I desire, I desire, I desire.. Sagittarius, who is...I see, I see...I see so much in what I'm doing I cannot finish what I'm doing Capricorn, who is...I use, I use...I use all of my experience in order to survive Aquarius, who is...I know, I know... why do I know when no one around me knows what I know Pisces, who is...I believe, I believe... or there is nothing for me to believe in These are the twelve people who inherit the earth You are one of them and there are only eleven others And if you get to know the eleven others You will be able to get along with everyone all over the world... all over the world |
