I dunno. It makes sense to me. First, it helps to decide who to blame - the scary songwriter or the moneygrubbing stations.

Second, for some songs, if I don't listen to them for a while, I may start enjoying them again. Whereas, bad songs are bad forever. I have to admit though, that I still can't listen to almost anything by the Eagles - way too overplayed.

On the original topic. I suggest "She's Having my Baby". Many of you will be too young to remember this one, but trust me on this. This song sucks in a really big way.

I find it best to just lay the blame on everyone even remotely involved. Saves me a lot of thinking. :D

the Doors? i actually like some of their stuff. i don't believe in the whole hero worship of Morrison, but they knew how to put out a decent song when they weren't completely whacked out of their gourds.

as far as Zepellin? like i said, it is completely subjective - i guarantee most of my favorite music would leave most people scratching their heads and saying "WTF?" but i don't like Zepellin's sound much, and i really hate the fact that they borrowed so much from the old blues musicians without giving the proper credit. please don't ask me to go back and give examples. i just remember one of my instructors going on and on about some of Zepellin's stuff, and i happened to be paying attention in class and thinking to myself - "bullshit - that song was straight outta Muddy Waters, and that one was Howlin Wolf!" but that has been about 15 years, so it would take some serious time for me to track down the specifics.

I'm not a country music fan, but that song is definitely the worst of the worst. The "boot in your ass" line makes me cringe...embarrassing. I think this was one of the songs on VH-1's "worst" list recently. :greenface

Zeps manager also named and managed Stone the Crows, who's lead singer Maggie Bell, was the best blues singer in the British Isles. If you've never heard her, you should, even if your not into blues. :)

Sun Sparkz, all I can say is that you would have had to of been here. Most Americans find John Denver's music as contrived as his name (You DO know he changed his named from something like John Syndervonhammmer to John Denver, after he moved to Colorado, right?) He wrote "Thank God I'm a Country Boy" while lounging on the grounds of his palacial estate in Aspen - just about the most expensive, chi-chi place on the face of the earth. If you want to find a "country boy," you'll have better luck on the streets of L.A. than you would on the streets of Aspen. Someone (I forget who) did a parody of that song and called it "Thank God, I'm a Billionaire!" Regular Country-Western singers here in the States may sing songs about coon hounds and Mom and apple pie, but if they make it big, there's no pretense about that. They strut their stuff in all their glitter while talking about their humble roots. John Denver tried to still come off as a poor boy while raking in the cash hand over fist. The hypocrisy of this turned people off.

You dislike that song because you were traumatized by the subject matter at such an early age. ;)
