Obviously there has been a misunderstanding, both parties need to accept that it was such and get over it.

Telling someone that you are going to make them look bad is admittedly nasty, but so is telling someone to fuck off and die!

Life is too short people!

Dagney I'm sorry to hear about your mum, and your relationship problems, All the best to you and your happiness.

LJ - You step on toes but that is something that makes you, you. DON"T CHANGE! I think your great!!

BrianR 05-20-2004 10:12 PM

Geez...step away for a few hours and look what happens!

I'm staying OUT of this one.

not really. Although i'm sure every one else is sick of this by now, I want to say a couple of things, and then i'll leave it alone if you like.

I can't see any benefit in trading insults with you. It's all kind of meaningless. So you don't like me. I can accept that. I think normally that might bother me more, but since the only wrongs I've done you were to trade insults and wise cracks, i can't really have any remorse over your dislike. I tried to be friendly to you from the start because I thought that you were funny and relatively cool. I endured your sarcastic barbs in good fun, and fired back in kind. I should have seen from your reactions to similar situations in the past that there is a time limit to that kind of thing with you. Don't know why I thought it would be any differerent for me.

Live and learn. It appears that the honeymoon is over. Although you don't like me, I don't see any reason for us to bicker as enemies would. Why don't we agree to be frenemies?

as for the rest of you:

to those of you that have voiced support and sent pm's of support, thank you. I think of you as my friends. i think this is all very stupid. I will be here as long as i enjoy it. as should everyone. polarization like this is senseless.

let's just talk shit, and make fun, and have a fine time. All of this contention is killing my buzz.

syc, dagney, go ahead and hate me. thanks for being honest about it at least.

elSicomoro 05-21-2004 12:20 AM

There you go again...playing the "wounded hero"...throwing in a few barbs for good measure. Then you top it off by wanting to call a truce and encouraging me to hate you. This is what I'm talking about...you don't know when to quit.

I have no intention of changing my current routine. It's worked pretty well for me, and no one has bitched about it, so...like Will Rogers said, "If it ain't broke, don't fix it."

lumberjim 05-21-2004 12:45 AM

i wasn't encouraging you to hate me. i was saying that there's nothing i can do about it, so go ahead. and i am not trying to play wounded hero, either. I am simply saying that your dislike is founded in your own reasons. I treated you as a friend. yeah, we took shots back and forth, but i never intended any serious personal insult. You say your routine has worked well so far, and it aint broke. Let me remind you of your history that I was here for.

When I came on, you were buddies with dave and tony. you did things together IRL a time or two, even. You had the manifestos going strong, and the peolpe here enjoyed them.

then you and dave had your spat, and you turned a cold shoulder to him. he left. -1 friend

then i reminded people of dave, UT got bent then you got bent at UT and closed up the manifestos. -1 friend

Now, you butt into an argument that does not involve you, and post a poll to oust me. then you say "i voted "yes" out of spite because I don;t like you. -1 friend.

at this rate, your routine will have you fresh out of friends. You may want to consider taking a look at it objectively.

I know that you'll probably say that I caused both of those rifts, but I think we both know I was no more than a catalyst. Neither of those occurences were my intent.

I am glad that this thread came to be. It has opened my eyes in a couple of ways.

marichiko 05-21-2004 01:26 AM

I have been staying out of this until now, but enough is enough, already.

1) For the record, I think LJ is just fine. His posts are amusing and often witty. He doesn't put people down the way some who post to this board do. If you have no sense of humor or you're not smart enough to pick up on a joke, just ignore LJ's posts. I, for one, enjoy reading them, if YOU don't, don't.

2) If you have a problem with somebody, and this goes for the real world as well as cyberspace, tell it to them; not the world. Making a private peeve public is a tactic we should all have left behind on the 3rd grade playground.

3) If you can't take the heat, stay out of the kitchen. I got into a big fight with just about everyone on this board when I first starting posting here, in part because I was new and didn't know who I was posting to and in part because I was running a fever of 100 degrees and what little rationality I might ever command normally had deserted me. I got over it. So can anyone else.

4) The Cellar can either choose to be an old boys' club made up of the individuals who first started it, or it can be as it is now, a pretty open, free-wheeling, site that gets posts from all over the world; not just Philadelphia. The choice is yours. Frankly, I'm surprised that the powers that be didn't quash this thread for the spam that it is.

xoxoxoBruce 05-21-2004 03:16 AM

Cowgirl, that's because "The powers that be" are even cooler than you can imagine.:D

And Syc, I'm still your friend, but that's probably just for the great sex.:joylove:

elSicomoro 05-21-2004 07:26 AM

And Jim still...doesn't...know...when...to quit...

I fully explained here why I had enough of Dave. The thread that contained that explanation has since been deleted. He left of his own choosing...quit trying to flog a dead horse.

UT and I have since made peace. And the Manifestos still exist--just not here.

As I see it, the argument involved everybody b/c it was out there for the world to see. You asked for that poll, and you got it. I don't care if you expected Dagney to do it or whatever...ask and ye shall receive. Like I said before, I didn't think you'd get the boot even if there were strong support for it.

I'm by no means a perfect person, and am more than willing to admit my mistakes. In hindsight, I should have made my thoughts and feelings more clear to people. For example, when I came to the conclusion that you were a rabblerouser, I should have said so. And when UT deleted my threads in the Manifestos, I should have said, "What the fuck are you doing to my Manifestos?" And when Dave started getting out of line, I should have said, "Yo, cool it." But I didn't...*shrugs* You live, you learn.

If I make friends while I'm posting here, that's great. If I don't, *shrugs*, I don't. It's really not a big deal. I don't come here for IotD, I don't come here for you...I just enjoy coming here and shooting the breeze.

If people think you're the bee's knees, great. I don't--I think you're a rabblerouser and troublemaker. (Not to mention, you've tried to pull Daves in your last 2 posts--no way I can respect you now.) I probably should have said that months ago, but I didn't. My bad.

Now, are you finally done with this shit? Jesus Christ...

hey vsp, i have one like that!

i have enjoyed reading all this! but agree that it is best left on the playground...

blue 05-21-2004 07:44 AM

LJ, dude...it's looking good. So far 23 people think you're the bee's knees!

And only 4 dislike you...keeping in mind one is Dagney who you pissed off, and one being Sycamore...which is to be expected, don't think he even likes himself and who can blame him?

Wonder who the other 2 votes were from?

Must admit that deep down I was curious to see what would have happened had things gone badly. I don't want you to leave, but I bet Jimland woulda been way cool. :)

If things had gone badly there would have been no change. It's the usual drama and I hope you kids feel better for having blown off some steam. Back to the boards!
