No. One of my dad's best friends is a painter, we grew up with his work all around the house. When I started nude modeling eight years ago all I knew was that one day I'd want to model for him.

I've done a lot of sittings for him and even posed for a fiberglass statue (lie down and don't move for three hours while this ice cold plaster hardens on your body, yikes!). This was the first photo shoot I've done with him. He was working on a new collection of abstracted realism. Little paintings done realistically but with the model in such poses that the limbs look like they shouldn't be able to intersect at the angles they do...so he called up the most flexible model he knows :)

As for not having the guts to do it...nude modeling is truly something that ANYONE can do, seriously. When I started it was simply because it was the best paying job in town, I had NO self image to speak of and figured that if people wanted to pay to draw my body then what the hell, at least it would be worth something to somebody then. It didn't take long for me to realize some of the hidden truths of modeling, at least modeling for artists. Artists like variety, they like to draw people who look average rather than Kate Moss types. Artists, and eventually the models themselves, tend to forget that what they're drawing is a person and not just a bunch of lines, shapes and shadows that go together beautifully.

Sorry for being so long winded there. :) What I'm trying to say is that you don't have to have overwhelming confidence in order to do nude modeling. (Granted it helps when you're starting to have really poor eyesight so you can't see the artists looking at you :D ) Full body pics are just like anything else, the quickest way to get brave enough to do it is simply to go ahead and do it.

i remember hearing about a nude model that looked like santa.....he showed up one day with a piece of toilet paper stuck in his butt cheeks.

the artists didn know whether to include it in the renderings.
