Smoking Warning
1 Attachment(s)
Do you have health warnings on packets of smokes in your part of the world? We do over here. Usually it's pictures of lung cancer and gangrene legs etc.
Here's the latest one: Attachment 16728 |
I love it Ali. That guy is a turd. And FTR no we do not have pics on the cigs here.
|
The pictures are pretty gruesome. Here's a link if you want to have a look.

Holy crap! That is nasty, well for a general public view anyway. So how is it working to cut down on smoking? Any studies to show it made a difference?

I love the disclaimer:

Well, there is also no smoking in pubs or bars. No smoking in restaraunts. No smoking in any buildings what so ever, and there's even no smoking in some parks and public areas. Definitely no smoking at any stadiums etc either.
Australia has become very intolerant towards smokers, and although I have no actual scientific research into the subject, I can say that the number of people I know who smoke now compared to 10 yrs ago is minimal. As an example, probably about 30 - 40% of the people I knew used to smoke. Now it'd be less than 5% and of that 5% they're mostly social smokers now anyway. There are figures around though about the number of people quiting smoking. There's still lots of teenagers who do it, and last I heard, the biggest concern were teenage girls. |

I think the US is headed that way as well. It is just going to take us another 10 years or so to do it. We have no smoking in any place that serves food. Liquor only establishments can do it, and most do it only after a certain time like 10 pm when they close the kitchen. There is no smoking in most buildings, public and private in our state.
|
Well, I don't agree with the nasty pictures on cigarette packets. I don't think it's suitable viewing for any children who might happen to look. I also don't necessarily think the pictures have had anything to do with people quiting. I think the general public is simply becoming more informed of the health risks associated with smoking and so are making better health decisions for themselves.
I think the interesting thing is that now everyone's quit smoking, we're all getting fat. |
I think we lead the world in obesity.

We're right behind you there Merc.
