I climbed this:
Well there were only a few sections that were serious, and it was aid climbing (stout stainless steel chain) when necessary. But still... 2999 meters, 10,000 feet. |
I think I'm just going to follow ZenGum around the board for the next few days....cool posts:thumb: (luuuuuurvely photo!)

I'm not tooting my horn or anything....but I'll be stalking Zen too.
No really... I finally figured out how to open a beer bottle with a lighter....this took years. I called it "the boy trick" because I've never seen a woman do it or be able to. But now I can do it. My trick too. |
DAMN IT! OK, who showed Cicero how to do the trick? Huh? Who was it? Well, when I find out, you are certainly out of the He-Man Woman Haters club.

Very nice place ZenGum. Congradulations on the climb.

Here are my other two favourite shots of that trip:
The first is the ascent route, a section called Kani-no-Tatebai (Crab's-upward-scuttle). There are three people in the shot for scale, going roughly up the middle of the picture. The second is the descent route, which follows the ridge. The lighter gray line tracing over the lump in the middle distance is the path. Those other guys were some hard core climbers who came up by an alternate (harder) route. This being Japan, there were at least 20 other people who did that mountain that day - and one jerk made a mobile phone call from the peak. Way to bring down my adrenaline high, bastard. :p |

Even though I don't get to practise as much as I used to, when I speak Russian most people, including Russians, think I am Russian (but I'm English).
