The original TV live action Batman, along with Burt Ward as Robin. Batman, as realized in the 60's television version, was campy in the extreme, and not at all true to the more accurate and dark portrayals that have been brought to life by animated series, and subsequent films...although a couple of those films mined the schlock history (think George Clooney...egad).

Batman the TV series was related to the Detective Comics version of Batman in much the same way that Roger Moore's James Bond was related to the original novels.
