Flash Gordon! Well, Flash wasn't really a superhero, but it's along the same lines.

If you saw the actor who played him in the "Playgirl" pictorial he did, you would know he WAS a super hero! ;)

I used to watch Flash every Sunday morning. Amazing how often that woman fainted. I bet she got so heartily sick of delivering that line:

"Oh!....Flash!" faints away into Flash's arms at the first sight of a mud man...

I don't remember the tv series. The movie came out in 1980, so I was a freshman or sophomore in HS. Yeah, we loved it!

DanaC 03-17-2009 05:17 PM

Oh the series was way before my time. But it was syndicated and was one of the regular sunday morning progs. Cheap programming for a low audience time.

Oh, this one? I bet it's pretty entertaining: Oh Flash, indeed! :)

Flash Gordon (1954-55)
Main article: Flash Gordon (1954 TV series)
Steve Holland starred in a 1954-1955 live-action TV series which ran for 39 episodes. The series had the distinction of being filmed in West Berlin, less than a decade after the end of World War II. It was recut into a movie in 1957. In this series, Flash, Dale, and Dr. Zarkov worked for the Galaxy Bureau of Investigation, approximately 1200 years in the future. The actual timeline was established in one episode, "Deadline at Noon," in which Flash, Dale, and Dr. Zarkov went back in time to Berlin in the year 1953.

It's fucking hysterical. An absolute must see. To be properly appreciated and respected it should be shown with appropriate accompaniments: popcorn (preferably homemade) and an ice cold glass of Dandelion and Burdoch. Failing that, beers and some mates.

omg...it is so available on DVD. I have to find a copy, or order one.

DanaC 03-17-2009 05:47 PM

*grins* you'll love it.

I always thought the Green Lantern was the inspiration for the Green Hornet. I loved that show as a kid. Bruce Lee's big break.
