Now there's a couple of tasty dishes.

The food looks good too.

After my CHL class, I went for sushi. Since the plating was pretty, I thought I'd take a picture. [emoji4]

Now I love sushi, and am a lesser fan of sushimi, but those pieces of raw fish look inedibly enormous to me.
Please reassure me, Bunny, that it's about the angle they were taken at; they're not really the size of a yacht sail...?
The plating is pretty though.
Thank you for the photos.

I've been staying out of this thread because I've been trying to lose weight for my Dad's 75th birthday. Given my meal out is now a week away I've accepted that it's probably too late to stress about it.

Isn't looking at the photos the calorie-free way if enjoying the food?

No, it makes me hungry.
And a hungry Sundae is like Godzilla, I want to devour the whole of Tokyo.
Or do a runner in the nearest Yo! Sushi. (Disclaimer - I have never left a restaurant without paying and never would)

BTW sushimi was a typo. Sashimi.

Sundae: Well, you could consider the pansy in the middle of the frame a size reference.

Lola: Delicious! (as always)

I bought a cookbook at the book fair and decided to try out the recipes. The recipes were simple and I have most of the ingredients. However, they don't taste too great, and the clean up is a hassle. Frankly, I think it's me. I don't cook well and I take too long at doing everything. [emoji29] I'll post up the recipes for anyone interested in giving them a try later. [emoji1]

I ate the food with rice, of course. After a while, the flavor wasn't so bad, just different. Anyways, here are the recipes.

That's a lot of sugar. I make glazed carrots by sauteeing the carrots in a lot of butter until they are tender, then add some dill and a teaspoon of honey.

They look tasty, sorry you were disappointed in the taste. :(

Yeah, 2 1/2 tbsp is a lot. I didn't use that much though because I didn't have that much carrots. I like how you make it better. Maybe it's the vinegar cider that made difficult to eat. Anyways, I think I'll stick to munching on raw carrots from now on since I don't really care for carrots much.

I gave my nephew a tiny bit of carrots to try. He'll try a tiny bit of anything for the first time. (I've trained him well....or should I say I've "put the fear of God in him," so he'll eat anything I give him. :D I put the phrase in quotes because that's what my sister said and my nephew agreed. Anyways, he immediately made this face ever so slightly. I asked if it's okay or not. When he wouldn't answer, I told him I'm going to make him eat it because I didn't receive an answer. LOL....He immediately said, or he might've have said it didn't taste so good but I swear I heard him say I don't feel so good after that first bite. So, no carrots for him. However, he ate the chicken. :D

I used to glaze carrots with honey.
But then I wasn't going for the speedy version - I'd roast them, which brings out their inner sweetness anyway.

Good for you for trying something different, Bunny.

I've decided not to give up on trying the recipes in the new cookbook I just bought. So, here's the chicken piccata I made today. Rather than wine, I replaced it with chicken broth. The flavor was good. Recipe is easy, so y'all feel free to try it. [emoji1]

Thank you, Sundae. I don't cook well, so I'm hoping with practice I can cook faster and better.

Lola Bunny 05-23-2015 05:50 PM

I'm reposting the recipe because the other file was too small, which made the words not too easy to read.
