Jungle Fever -- The Chakachas

footfootfoot 04-30-2011 07:27 PM

I'm all about spreading the Thackray love.

I have gone through all of his songs as favorites. Being a former Catlick I started w/ Sister Josephine. Something I think you really need to be Catholic to fully appreciate.

Gravdigr 05-01-2011 03:41 PM

Man, the different musical tastes displayed here always blows my mind.

And makes me feel a little alone in my own musical tastes.

Hysterical!

I am proselytizing SonofV now for/toward/in (gah! this word is hard to use in this context, I don't know how to use it properly. maybe I've just started awkwardly and have finally reached the end of my grammatical possibilities (or more likely, the end of my knowledge; that road is shorter)) love of Thackray.

He recently showed me a program on Netflix, a routine by comic Whitney Cummings: Money Shot. It is definitely funny, and there's a bit in there where she talks about guys just needing to find a hole, any hole.

*DING*

The Hole.

We've just started, and I am really, really looking forward to the journey!

I had hoped you'd see it, figured you'd like it.

I have memories of riding down to dayton to see bands with another couple, probably stoned, and gene playing that song and others. Years ago. I was glad to find that on the entrewebs.

monster 05-06-2011 09:34 PM

this Adele Parody

DanaC 05-07-2011 02:53 AM

This: worth going full screen. I fucking love this video :p

Dear Dana--

I want to thank you for this link. I showed it to SonofV and he watched it a dozen times that night. "It's in his *bones*!" He's been shufflin ever since. Soooo much fun!

Thank you thank you!

DanaC 05-12-2011 02:55 PM

lol

Yeah, my nieces turned me onto it. I visited the other night and they were shufflin' all over the place.

SONGBIRD - EVA CASSIDY

For you there'll be no crying
For you the sun will be shining
'Cause I feel that when I'm with you
It's alright, I know it's right

And the songbirds keep singing
Like they know the score
And I love you, I love you, I love you
Like never before

To you, I would give the world
To you, I'd never be cold
'Cause I feel that when I'm with you
It's alright, I know it's right

And the songbirds keep singing
Like they know the score
And I love you, I love you, I love you
Like never before

Like never before; like never before.

Pico and ME 05-13-2011 01:18 AM

I love her version. I have her Songbird CD and love every single track on it.

footfootfoot 05-13-2011 09:24 AM

I first discovered her "Autumn Leaves" cover then got everything I could find by her. Such a beautiful voice and so sad. Fuck cancer.

footfootfoot 05-13-2011 09:24 AM

And now for something funny:

BigV 05-13-2011 02:57 PM

FECK!

GunMaster357 05-18-2011 05:39 AM

DanaC 05-18-2011 05:51 AM

I've only recently become aware of this singer. One of her songs (the first here) has been adapted as the theme for a new BBC drama called The Shadowline. It struck me instantly. Just the most beautiful voice.

Love that song and particle man.

Clodfobble 05-21-2011 09:31 PM

God, what a strange video. I was surprised to realize I had never seen it, despite being a big TMBG fan for over 15 years.

footfootfoot 06-17-2011 03:38 PM

Damn Richard Thompson can take that song and make it have substance. He's amazing.

He might even be able to cover "It's Friday" and make it good. OK that's hyperbole, but still, he's the shit.

richlevy 06-30-2011 06:13 PM

Super Nerdy fun. Can you name that bps?:compute::hedfone:

Pico and ME 06-30-2011 07:56 PM

So what is the most horrible sound in the world anyway?

richlevy 07-05-2011 08:14 PM

This....
Which, oddly enough, sounds like a 300bps modem handshaking.

Spexxvet 07-23-2011 08:04 AM

Pico and ME 07-30-2011 11:46 PM

This is the opening theme song to Suits, a new show that I have been watching. The show is OK, but I really like this song.

sexobon 08-06-2011 05:33 AM

I listened to Jennifer Hudson's cover of Marilyn Monroe's Happy Birthday. It was pleasant; but, I preferred the spicy version.

GunMaster357 08-08-2011 06:27 AM

"Lobotomie" by Mind Confusion

Clodfobble 10-18-2011 12:19 PM

Eine Kleine Nachtmusik.

It's the hold music for my health insurance company. Just that one song on loop. I get to hear it a lot. Today we're discussing again why they still owe me $1500+ from last May. But I really think we're making progress this time.

Cotillion 11-07-2011 04:29 PM

Now listening to Def Leppard - Rock of Ages

DanaC 11-13-2011 03:11 AM

This has been going through my head all morning.

Bizarre but totally awesome video: Duck Sauce 'The Big Bad Wolf':

fair warning: do not watch with small children, and do watch in full screen

DanaC 11-13-2011 03:15 AM

More Duck Sauce:

Slightly less outre, but bloody good track.

DanaC 11-13-2011 03:23 AM

I also happened upon this....which stuck in my head and I really like it. I shouldn't like it...yet i do. Alexandra Stan. This was her debut in 2009.

This is one for the boys in particular (look out for our very own Pam)

Love this one too: possibly better known. Haven't been in clubs much in recent years, but I imagine the dance floor hits its beat on this.

*grins*

I know right? Total wtf moment!

I particularly like how that first woman's groin head was bearded :p

Trilby 11-14-2011 08:02 AM

I'm listening to Britney !! And I don't care who knows!!

BigV 11-14-2011 02:41 PM

Here you Dana--

I like the dance groove of this one better than Ms Stan's. Video tip courtesy of SonofV. Thanks son!

DanaC 11-14-2011 04:05 PM

Oooh. That's great. Say thanks to SonofV from me!:0
