Just saw one of Phil Collins's videos on tv. My wife wondered aloud about whatever happened to Phil. He was HUGE for 5 years or so there. So off to Wikipedia I went.
Turns out just two days ago, he called it quits. "I don't think anyone's going to miss me." |

Imma let you finish, but Genesis had some of the best albums of all time.
Genesis by Genesis (Home By the Sea, That's All, Mama) and And Then There Were Three (Follow You Follow Me *sigh*, Deep in the Motherlode) He got kind of dorky especially in solo, but I still love some of that stuff. And Then There Were Three was one of the first albums I remember from my older brother's eventually HUGE record collection. |

Mr. Collins was an inspirational drummer for me in the seventies, but I believe that in 1979, somebody showed him how the Roland CR-78 drum machine worked... and it was all downhill after that.

Kind of like when Chicago still sounded all big bandish, before they got to simpering and crying as a way to sell records. |

Right now I am listening to the Being Human OST by Richard Wells. Lovely stuff. Lot's of acoustic guitar and desert wailing. Been waiting for it to be released for ages, just came out yesterday.
|
last night, at my friends house...we decided to quit bothering the crap out of her husband and went to the basement party room. The only music we could get was on old cassette tapes, and some of them were pretty bad. We drank beer and played with the disco lights and listened to Wings greatest. Love it!
|
Wings were fun. When I digitized much of my LP collection a few years ago, I took their live triple album, Wings Over America, and boiled it down into one CD of just 70 minutes of just the best songs. Listened to it the other day. Good stuff.
|
I was trying to get my friend to note all the stuff going on in the background, or where this instrument or that instrument came in, the arrangement. It really is great music.
I saw PM and Wings some years ago...it was awesome. I mean, even if you don't like the music you can't help but be impressed with the presence of one of the most iconic musicians ever. But, I love the music. |

happy monkey put this earworm in my head years ago... and for some reason it resurfaced today |

Am listening to the Plymouth Whalers playing Kitchener Rangers @ Kitchener in the 7th game of the first round of playoffs. 2:0 to the Whalers, they just got a 3rd waved off even thought the Kitchener commentator is sure it was a goal

Seasons in the Abyss by Slayer...it's been a big favorite of mine recently along with Grace by Jeff Buckley.

Nooooooooooooooooooooo! it was 2-0 when i tuned in, now it's 2;2. I'm obviously bad luck, but I need to know.... :(

Right now I am on a bit of a BBC Radio sit-com kick.
Current favourite being Elvenquest. A low-grade fantasy author and his dog are abducted by an elven Lord, an armour-clad amazonian princess and a disgruntled dwarf and taken through a portal to a fantasy world (Lower Earth), because the dog is the prophesied 'chosen one' who will defeat Lord Darkness. Brilliant cast, including Stephen Mangan (from Extras). Couldn't find much in the way of youtube clips but there's a sample on the audible.com site that gives a flavour of it. http://www.audible.com/search/ref=sr_topbox_1 and the one Youtube clip I was able to find, which has been dubbed over a clip of Disney's Hunchback of Notre Dame |

OMG, does anyone else remember this? I'm sorry. Really, I'm sorry.

Bitch. Sorry just isn't good enough.

How fun would it be to recreate that for a talent competition? Anyone in?

I love it. They had a schtick, and they went for it. I had a slightly younger friend who played L'Trimm, and I got hooked at the time. I was just thinking it would be sweet to get an album and crank it with the lid on my Beetle down. :)
Hey, they're talking about the space shuttle! That is entirely made of iron! |

Fun fact: Abba didn't speak a lick of English, they learned the songs phonetically. That's what I heard years ago anyway. |
