Went to see an old family friend (by old I mean of old, not that he is old :P) performing in Blackpool.

I may have mentioned him here before: my bro's best friend from school. Practically lived at our house in that way kids do; like another sibling. He sings and writes his own stuff, but mostly he is a Neil Diamond impersonator. He's part of the 'Legends' show, which puts on shows with several musical 'legends'.

Was a good time. The Diana Ross singer was awesome, as was Freddie Mercury. But Gaz just totally becomes Neil Diamond; it's freaky. He looks a lot like him anyway. There's no sense of him 'pretending' he just totally inhabits the role when he's on stage. Mannerisms and general air and everything. And his voice sounds just like him.

He seems happier and more settled lately. Haven't seen him much at all the last decade or so. Maybe two or three times in 15 years. Last time we saw him was at Dad's funeral. I was so pleased he made it.

It's nice to see him ....comfortable with himself. I think he may finally have got the hang of being content. He was always such a roving soul. A die-hard romantic who always managed to choose the wrong girl and get his heart broken :P But we all grow up. Eventually.

My weekend goal is to figure out how to get this thing off my DVR and onto the web. Wish me luck!

I did. Also David Doyle (Charlie's Angels), Eva Gabor (Green Acres), Brett Somers, Betty White, and Richard Dawson.

I loved that show! Probably the drunkest, smokiest, crassest, funniest crowd on the telly - they'd be banned in this day and age.

Oh yeah. At one point in the show, Gene Rayburn gave a completely obvious ogle to my breastal area. Dirty old man!

Har! I've been convinced that Pilau is 11 years old and about to turn 12 this month. Mum was sayin she was sure they (Pilau and Dante - aka The Boys) weren't. She dug out their birth certificates last night. Turns out she was right. They're 10 and will turn 11 later this month. My little wolf ain't such an old fellah after all :)

@ Dana: I keep doing that with my cat. My ex informed me I was a year off when I said, in April, that she's 17. She's only 16.

Glinda, I love Betty White and Eva Gabor. Brett Somers was such a hoot, too. What a cool experience.

eta: I just checked and I didn't see Pilau's birthday listed under his statistics in the member's list. :(

So Happy Birthday Pilau whatever day it is! :)

Just got back from Maine where we saw this little fella...

glatt 08-30-2009 01:47 PM

Fantastic photo Griff!

Where was that in Maine?

Griff 08-30-2009 05:18 PM

I think it was Trout Pond between Second and Fourth Roach Pond near Moosehead Lake in Maine. They may want to upgrade their naming scheme.

I know Moosehead Lake well. Especially up near Seboomick. That's where I saw my first moose.

Gorgeous up there.

Yeah, fantastic lanscape. It is under some threat from development now though. Apparently, a major lumber company sold out its holdings to a big developer and the locals expect seasonal condos and pavement will block the free access guides and locals had to the wild areas.
