Was it wrong of me to say hi Pam to Nerdina privately?

Sheldonrs 02-29-2012 12:45 PM

This one is sad for me. Davy Jones of the Monkees. Only 66.

Nobody has him, this is the place to be irreverent about dead celebs. Here's a better thread for actual sadness and tributes:

infinite monkey 02-29-2012 01:07 PM

I tributed him here with my favorite Brady Bunch episode, and I mocked him in the "HONORABLE POST" thread?

I need a program.

Trilby 02-29-2012 01:11 PM

Like a 12 step thing, or..?

infinite monkey 02-29-2012 01:19 PM

Yeah, twelve steps...that's how many to emerge from the basement. Isn't it?

Yes, but you must walk ominously and slowly, with real
spooky music playing.

Once you make to the kitchen door, you get a token!

Is that a euphemism? ;)

oh yes

Sundae 03-01-2012 01:28 AM

Filthy Rich and Catflap?

DanaC 03-01-2012 06:13 AM

Mum was talking about Davy Jones last night. I'd misremembered the story when I mentioned it a while ago. He was the one who asked mum out. She danced with him a couple of times.

glatt 03-01-2012 08:18 AM

Your mum went on a date with Davy Jones?! That's awesome!

Sheldonrs 03-01-2012 08:40 AM

I'm sorry for the family's loss but I won't be a hypocrite and say I'm sorry he's dead. He did so much damage to good people and organizations.

Sheldon, would you please stop posting death announcements in this thread? Pretty please? If it's something you just must do to be irritating, then fine, I'll just ignore it like the other irritants around here. But really, I had you pegged as smarter than that. I will be disappoint.

If you just hadn't realised it's clogging up the thread with non death pool stuff, then please and thanks and there is a link to a more appropriate thread above.

I don't read everyones lists so I don't know who is or isn't on them so that's why I post them here.

I'll just post in another thread from now on.

monster 03-01-2012 06:50 PM

much appreciated. Also because here we like to be a little "irreverent" sometimes people who are genuinely mourning celebs get upset about it. This way they don't have to see the "inappropriate glee" if they don't want to :)

Ravi Shankar off to that great gig in the sky:

Alive (as of 3/7/2012)

Take back them points, Quickstraw.

infinite monkey 03-07-2012 02:53 PM

What are you talking about anyway? When was there a Ravioli Canker on your list?

Shit. I think I had him last year and never took him off my google news feed.

damn. I'll settle for half points for him, in that case.
:bolt:

Rhianne 03-07-2012 04:01 PM

It's not him though, not the sitar player from your YouTube clip, it's a different Ravi altogether that died today.

monster 03-07-2012 05:22 PM

So wait, now he's claiming people that aren't on his list and aren't dead?

some things never change....

infinite monkey 03-07-2012 05:41 PM

No, that is the right Ravi Shankar but the clip is about 40 years old. The same Ravi Shankar that banged a groupie to produce what's her name? the singer...

Damn! Who knew there were so many Ravi Shankars? Is that Bengali for John Smith?

So, I guess in this case I'll have to settle for only 6 points. :(

Ok. But I didn't have him on my list, either. So, since he isn't dead, I'll settle for 6 points, too. :D

footfootfoot 03-07-2012 06:43 PM

Yes, but you don't NOT have him on your list, so I think you get 9 points.

I had Ravi oli for dinner. I'll take 23 points.

No, it was beer ravioli.

Thank you! God, thank you thank you thank you. I wanted to say something, anything...

Because really. Not funny.

footfootfoot 03-18-2012 05:04 PM

...trying to wake on his own...?
Maybe he'll have more success with that than trying to be funny on his own

wolf 03-21-2012 07:59 PM

I've heard about comedians dying on stage, but that was a bit much ... Damn shame, too. Tiny bar in an obscure suburb in Texas. Whole place must have been the splash zone.

Gravdigr 04-08-2012 02:10 PM

Anybody, you know, besides me, have Mike Wallace?

Died last night.

mine either. But musn't discriminate against the necrosally-challenged.

infinite monkey 04-18-2012 03:46 PM

I guess I don't understand the points system.

edit: D'oh. I see whut you did thar. I'm dense!

monster 04-18-2012 03:48 PM

Well, I secretly replaced some of your list with drooling zombies, and as they're not quite dead it leads to a disturbance in the point calculation field.

monster 04-18-2012 03:59 PM

I have a whole evening with no taxi service to perform. I'm thinking of having a beer right now!!!!!!! I want to start a barbie, but (a) I think we don't have charcoal and (b) it needs assembling. I feel like i'm playing hookey! Oh the cellar is so in trouble tonight.......

I saw on your FB that you are moving to California, btw. Congratulations, check your PMS.

infinite monkey 04-18-2012 05:46 PM

Who, me? I haven't been on basefook for ages! Is someone impersonating me?

I have a beer right now. I'm celebrating a light at the end of a tunnel!

Maybe its a sign of the apocalypse - without Dick.

wolf 04-19-2012 12:32 AM

I finally got one!

A friend of mine's dad was his sound and studio engineer in Philadelphia, during the bandstand years. They maintained contact even after Dick left the area.

New Year's Eve will never be the same.
