Yes, this is an ad for scented dirt. Appropriate, I suppose...

No. It does not smell like me.:D

We've had below freezing temps lately and now light rains.
I came across this (skeleton) hydrangea leaf.
I've not come across one occurring naturally.

That's cool. Reminds me of those leaf ornaments you see in fancy museum shops. I always wonder how they make those. If you pour molten metal over a leaf, it's gonna burn up. And you can't, as far as I know, electroplate anything that's not metal.

Lamplighter 01-06-2011 11:21 AM

Ooops. Wrong thread.

I thought I clicked into the "Neat pictures..." thread
Oh well, maybe this too will pass

xoxoxoBruce 01-06-2011 11:21 AM

Same as the chrome plastic trim in cars.

glatt 01-06-2011 11:24 AM

Basically spray paint?

Happy Monkey 01-06-2011 11:40 AM

Do they claim there's a leaf in there? If not, it could just be molded. A complicated mold, but who'd notice if they missed a bit here and there?

glatt 01-06-2011 11:51 AM

I guess Google is your friend. I answered my own question by spending 5 seconds looking. Yes, they are real leaves.

"These real leaves, cones, and acorns are hand picked from selected trees and are chosen for the most pleasing shape. The leaves are treated with a wash to make them filigree, brushed with a layer of metallic copper, then electroplated with 18K gold, 24K gold or sterling silver."

As John would say, "More pictures!" Ok--historically accurate, no longer in use:

Did you just call Lamplighter a knob?! No wonder he's pissed. Way to go man. :(

TheMercenary 02-05-2011 09:17 AM

Why is he pissed? Did I miss something? I like the Lamp...

glatt 02-05-2011 12:48 PM

He left a vague post that it just wasn't working, and left.

Gravdigr 02-06-2011 01:19 AM

He was pretty entertaining...I liked him. More or less.

We got a Sheldon, and we got a John. I thought we had a Dennis, but that may a Dwellar's real name...

But two-fers are cool.

Shawnee123 02-23-2011 09:35 AM

Dennis is a cellar cat!

Gravdigr 02-24-2011 03:34 AM

Oh yeah...a kitteh.

A three-fer!

Gravdigr 02-26-2011 04:36 PM

One of us has (or had) a cat or dog named Turbo, don't we?

That would make a four-fer!

ZenGum 02-27-2011 08:14 PM

a very simple anagram, well, simple for a smart lab rat anyhow.

infinite monkey 07-28-2011 03:29 PM

I saw a license plate the other day, but didn't get a picture because I don't mess with my phone much while on the interstate.

Anyway, it read:

MERC4ME

I giggled.

infinite monkey 07-28-2011 03:32 PM

I was like, why is that girl holding that bowling ball behind her back? That's a weird stance. Oh, that's not a bowling ball! Why is that girl holding that polished rock behind her back, at the bowling alley? Oh, that's not a polished rock, and it isn't the bowling alley!
