Hmm...my Friday afternoon was spent stuffing envelopes and franking 1500 letters in a panicked rush to get them into the post in time to reach electors who've registered for a postal vote. Then I realised that, because the delays in printing had forced me to send them first class rather than second, the overall cost was too high (election spending limits!) so pulled out five hundred of them.....and spent Friday evening hand delivering them around the ward. Took me four hours, finished at ten past nine and got two buses home (calling via the KFC in between buses).

Next Friday it's the last friday before election week.....so I'll be busy then too.....and the following Friday is the day of the count.....so that Friday afternoon will tell me whether I've held my seat or lost it....

I think I maybe just back slowly out of this thread and not come back again until May :P

I feel like I missed a few episodes. The last show I saw, Sundae Girl was going to AA, on the wagon, financially responsible, and on the road to better things. What happened while I was gone?
I fell off.
But I am suffering for it and determined to be better all round.

I'm still on the road to better things, I just stopped off briefly in the Restrooms of Having the Weekend to Myself.

HungLikeJesus 04-21-2008 09:42 AM

So just normal stuff, SG. I was worried that someone had moved in to your body without the proper respect.

SteveDallas 04-25-2008 02:36 PM

Tick . . . . .

Tock . . . .

Shawnee123 04-25-2008 03:01 PM

No kidding, SteveDallas. I've been micromanaged to within an inch of my life this week. Except Wednesday, which was a very good day.

Woohoooo...it's Friday and we get out at 4 and I am outta here!

Have a great weekend everyone!

DanaC 04-25-2008 03:44 PM

Well, not Friday aft, but Friday night *smiles* I nipped down to L's house to pick up another box of leaflets for tomorrow, had a bottle of lager whilst there and am now back home, working my way through a glass of pear and strawberry cider. It's a little after half nine and I am done for the night. Yey. Chill time *luxuriates* Gonna watch the new Hero's episode on BBC-iplayer and eat a microwaved lasagna. Happy times.

Cicero 05-02-2008 02:53 PM

Oh hai- It's another celebratory cellar Friday. You guys are so fun on Fridays.
;)

BigV 05-02-2008 03:11 PM

Speak for yourself.

:/

elSicomoro 05-02-2008 03:39 PM

My work day doesn't begin until 6pm. I'm glad I'm not working until midnight, though. I dunno...there's something about working the hours between 10pm and midnight.

SteveDallas 05-02-2008 03:42 PM

blech.

Dinner and a show.

And no, I'm not looking forward to it.

Cloud 05-02-2008 03:44 PM

Too early for beer, but I had flan for lunch. :)

elSicomoro 05-02-2008 03:44 PM

Why? Disney flick or something?

Oh wonderful, wonderful Friday.....my first proper 'Friday (with an especially capital F !) for F%&*in ages!

Sundae 05-09-2008 05:12 PM

I tip my Friday hat to you, Councillor!

SteveDallas 05-09-2008 08:06 PM

So far Friday afternoon/evening = living hell

Flint 05-23-2008 01:58 PM

Bump.

Cicero 05-23-2008 02:28 PM

I love how no one is around when I get some spare time.
;)

SteveDallas 05-23-2008 03:20 PM

Blech. I've felt like I had a hangover all day. (And I haven't touched a drop all week.)

Flint 05-23-2008 03:34 PM

So the guys says "If those didn't get the taste out of my mouth, nothing will!"

Cloud 05-23-2008 05:35 PM

I totally skipped out on work this afternoon to play hooky. My boss has been gone since yesterday--left me with nothing to do but filing. Plus, I was pissed at him for something he did.

Bored and pissed--not a good combination. And the office was dead, dead, dead (we have a 3-day weekend, for you non-US peeps).

So I dropped off my half day vacation request and said See ya!

Cicero 05-23-2008 05:52 PM

Yea...everyone in our office left by 12 but me, and then I was gone by 2:00. No one cares. That's a good thing!
You can choose to use your alone time by singing on the intercom half-naked next time Clouder.
Or answer the phones politely stark naked. lol! Just lock the doors and be sure to close the blinds first. :)

Cloud 05-23-2008 06:04 PM

I chose to use the time shopping! Malls were packed, as we're obviously not the only ones let loose on the world prematurely.

I actually found a really cute swimsuit that I like and looks good on me. (Well, as good as it could look, anyway).

Sundae 05-23-2008 07:18 PM

We've got a three day weekend too.
Although I'm technically working as I'm going to take pics of a carnival where children we've been working with are making an appearnance. And then the pub in the evening. But after all it's an exciting work day.

I was going to say - beats working. But I actually enjoy both my job right now!

Happy Saturday morning to yous all.

Sundae 05-23-2008 07:53 PM

No, it's Monday I'm working (and Sunday, but that's just 4 hours at the pub and par for the course).

Tomorrow I do as I please (except opening the office at 09.00!)
It's gonna be, gonna be, gonna be.... a lovely daaaaaay!

Thanks :)

Awesome.

Sundae 06-06-2008 02:04 PM

Crummy Friday afternoon.

Reports to get in, which I couldn't compile til the Project Managers got me the info (whip cracking and chasing, bleurgh)
Then lots of excel & maths
Then couldn't send because the attachments were too big

Finally got it done (did get a well done from the boss - apparently I handled it very well and more calmly than they've done in previous years)

Then 1 pint at the pub - whet my whistle for more, but everyone was on a deadline for other things.

AND - after being approved for new cat adoption there has been a suspected sighting of Dylan which raises all my hopes and feelings.
It should be a wonderful thing - but the sighting was a week ago. And occurred after he'd been missing 3 weeks. And was on my own street.

It just sounds so unlikely. I'm sure it must have been Diz.
But my hopes are up anyway and I fear another 3 weeks hope and the inevitable crash.

Yes I know I put too much emotional investment in my cats. I'm lonely.

Cloud 06-06-2008 02:22 PM

co-workers and I went to lunch at "the trough" aka Golden Corral.

Waddled back to work.

Now we have to suffer 4 more hours, when all we really want to do is nap.

Flint 06-06-2008 02:24 PM

You can probably set your cell phone as an alarm. I'm just sayin'.

Flint 06-06-2008 02:33 PM

Yay I just got a new thing. I have a cell phone for 24/7, a pager for Service Center tickets, and NOW a portable phone thing for when I'm at work but you can't find me, and my cell phone isn't getting a signal, and I can't hear you paging me overhead.

Cloud 06-06-2008 02:37 PM

zzzzzzz . . . uh! what? (blinks)

Flint 06-06-2008 02:39 PM

You were just resting your eyes.

SteveDallas 06-06-2008 03:56 PM

I took a junky old trumpet my wife had in to a music store a friend works at, traded gossip with the friend, brought it back home & said it was too junky to be worth fixing. Then I ate lunch, mowed the grass, went out for a bottle of Tequila for our bucket of margarita's. My son's little league playoff game starts in an hour.

monster 06-06-2008 04:00 PM

You can make really cool sculptures with junky old trumpets.

Cloud 06-06-2008 04:02 PM

my boss just told me to get him out of his meeting at 4:20.

should be easy to remember! :D and

I'm gonna leave at 5:00 !

Cloud 06-06-2008 04:39 PM

ssssslllllloooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooow!

DanaC 06-06-2008 06:08 PM

Way to go Zippyt!

Chin up Sundae *hugs* not easy.

Cicero 06-06-2008 09:09 PM

You guys do not rock. Here I finally have time and am not getting yelled at for being here, and no booooody!!

Argggh!

Flint 07-25-2008 01:47 PM

DanaC 07-25-2008 02:15 PM

Oh fuckin' yeah!

classicman 07-25-2008 02:22 PM

2 hours till the weekend! Please hurry I have a long drive

BTW - How ya been? haven't seen you in a week.

kerosene 07-25-2008 05:43 PM

Buffalo Bill Days down here. Means I'm gonna get me a funnel cake!!!

HungLikeJesus 07-25-2008 05:47 PM

case - is it pretty crowded in Golden today?

What's a funnel cake?

kerosene 07-25-2008 05:59 PM

Yeah, they have 10th and washington closed off. I doubt I will find parking near there, so we might just walk to the park.

Srsly, you don't know what a funnel cake is?

sweet greasy goodness:

http://www.ncstatefair.org/2007a/Com...with_sugar.jpg

Sundae 07-25-2008 06:01 PM

I have to say... yes it does look greasy. I'll pass.
Thanks for the pic though, it's not at all what I expected.

DanaC 07-25-2008 06:10 PM

Not what I expected either.....looks like washed out jelabi.

Sundae 07-25-2008 06:21 PM

I expected fruit cake for some reason.
You know, proper dark dense fruit cake.
Must have been the context it was written about somewhere. Some sort of home baking scenario I imagine.

zippyt 07-25-2008 07:18 PM

SG , A funnel cake is fried doe , topped with Powdered sugar , i have seen cinnamon or coco powder as well .
They are KILLLLLLER !!!

SteveDallas 07-25-2008 07:45 PM

MMMM! Yummy (heart attack) carnival food goodness.

"Funnel" because you take the batter and pour it into a funnel, and then move it around as the batter runs out to make the cake.

SteveDallas 07-25-2008 07:49 PM

Also, zippy.... you know I don't usually pick on people's spelling :stickpoke

But you mean dough. Not doe. (Though I'm sure there are places you can buy fried doe.)

zippyt 07-25-2008 07:53 PM

there aint no minced up Deer in yer funnel cakes ????

Must be a Southern thang !!!! ;) ;)

Pie 08-01-2008 01:24 PM

So hey -- it's Friday afternoon, and I NEVER HAVE TO COME BACK HERE AGAIN.

No sh*t, it's my last day on the job. Sweet!
:celebrat::jig:

Griff 08-01-2008 01:45 PM

Sweet! Goodbye suxors!

DanaC 08-01-2008 02:14 PM

*smiles* Nice one Pie:)

Well, here we are again. Another Friday, seven days older and not much wiser than the last one. And, I really have to ask myself, what the fuck have I done this week? How.....no really, how can it be Friday again already?

See, now, that's the problem with going on an obsessive one. Whole weeks (and sometimes months) can just breeze on past your window unregarded.

Somewhere in amongst the haze of 1980s BBC sci-fi, I'm pretty sure I did some work. There was at least one Council meeting, a Group caucus and rally on the town-hall steps....I made a few phone calls, sent a few emails and read the odd report. Compress it all, I bet it wouldn't make a day and a half's worth of work. Last week's flurry of sorting and ruthless disposal of clutter was a good start to my summer mission but it has floundered somewhat this week, stranded on the badly-made, papier-mache rocks.

So, what do I have planned this weekend? Well....I was thinking of watching some early Doctor Who episodes....

It's Friday. This is a good thing. Friday is for indulgence.....Monday, now, next Monday I am going to get busy.....

Cloud 08-01-2008 02:52 PM

what, nobody's posted about the bus decapitation yet?
