Those eyes! I been hyp-no-tized!

Adorable kitties, Sundae! May you have many hours of napping and chasing string together! Cats are so great-and you've got two handsome boys there. Really beautiful faces on those two.

Jebediah, what a shapely Shadow :)
Has he been poking his head into dusty spaces in that picture?

Hoof Hearted 10-03-2006 10:53 PM

Sundae, your kitties are beautiful! I've never seen that breed before.
I'm sure Diz will adjust. His crying is because he is in a new place, just talk to him and reassure him when you hear him cry. Maybe you could try hand feeding chicken pieces to him to 'win him over'? Cooked chicken in cream of chicken soup always works for me with the rescued ferals.

I also like the pic of Shadow...Shadow looks like my Inky. We have a long-haired Shadow here at home, I call her Sombra del Gato...

bluecuracao 10-04-2006 08:35 PM

Bosco, a couple of years ago. He still looks about the same, except his kitten-sized head and body have caught up to his cat-sized ears.

Thanks :) He's a stray (working on converting him to partial indoor) and thus gets into all sorts of stuff.

He looks like a sable burmese. I had one years ago, Wheatie...

Thanks! Until now I figured he was just a DSH. Reading up about Burmese explains some of his behavior now. There are other sable burmese around... I suspect he was from the same batch. Wheatie looks adorable too.

Thanks Flint. Glad to have her while we could.

I realize I've been negligent. Many of you may remember Petrie, on the right. He now has a new friend, Piper. Piper is about 3 months old and is from a "surprise" clutch of eggs from a couple cockatiels friends of ours have.

How about a couple shots of the bird crap on the furniture. :worried:

Reading my paper

1 Attachment(s)
Once I taught her how to read, it became a race to see who could get to the paper first in the morning. The dog usualy won. I hated to put her down, but I couldn't teach her about sharing. You would have thought that if she could learn to read, she could have learned to share.

This is my dog Vesta; the name is one my wife came up with, it was the goddess of the Roman household and she is our goddess. She is a yellow lab and is my best friend and my wife know it. She travels with me and is now in Atlanta, she has been to Arizona and California twice, she is great in the car.

She has this kong ball toy that we treaded with heavy braided rope and she likes to have battles with it, I'm surprised she hasn't gotten a concussion yet!

She looks like she's getting a concussion in that first "play" pic. What a cutie-pie! Hello to her (and you) from about 40mi East of Atlanta! <waves wildly>

After my first wife divorced me she got the idea to raise English Mastiffs. She bought a male for one of our sons and a female for the other. The male eventually reached about 220 lbs and the female was somewhere around 160. They had 2 litters but many of the pups died in birth, apparently not too uncommon with big breeds I was told. They ended up keeping 3 of the puppies so then they had 5 at a gross weight of over 1000lbs! They would go through a 40 lb bag of dog food in about 5 days! She gave up on the idea of raising Mastiffs for money.

[KingMastiff] You will keep breeding and feeding Mastiffs, until I have an Army capable of humping every leg in the World. (maniacal laughter) [KingMastiff] :D

He isn't too bad. We go through the 40lb bags every week and a half or so. He is only a couple years old, and we are taking care of him until we can get him to Texas (his new home). They (my SO's parents who had him to begin with) had to keep him somewhat skinny because if they gain too much weight too fast when they are growing they will have joint probelms, back problems, and arthritis because their growing body can't handle that much weight. Once he settles down (he is pretty hyper) he should get to be at least 220. His father was 250 from what I heard. We are letting him bulk up now. :D i am guessing the 160... the last time he was weighed he was 149, but we have been feeding him more since then and you can tell he has gained weight.

Iggy 12-19-2006 06:31 PM

SG, those cats are cute! They look like they climb the walls though... :D

They're Singapuras - I adopted rather than bought them and I suspect Dylan's bloodline isn't pure. But I love them equally. Except when they are being monsters.

Jinx that's a great set of photos of Banzai. Did you have to wait a long time to get them or was there a fair amount of luck involved?

jinx 12-20-2006 09:51 PM

A little of both. I took a lot of bad pictures for a while and then caught him yawning.

Hoof Hearted 12-20-2006 10:39 PM

I like his freckle-y nose, though I notice he has no freckles in his ears. Does he have any freckles on his footpads or in his mouth?
I think only orange kitties get freckles. I have three orange kitties with freckles.

jinx 12-20-2006 11:09 PM

On his toes and in his eyes. I think its cute too.

Iggy 12-21-2006 01:01 AM

Those are fabulous eyes... I have never seen so vivid a blue for a cat's eyes! You are lucky.

I decided to try and get into a Christmassy mood. To which purpose I furnished myself with a bottle of wine and a box of Mr Kiplings Christmas slices.

As some of you may know, Pilau (my clever but slightly demented bearded collie) has become very interested in the goings on on my worksurface, ever since it started miraculously sprouting cooked sausages:

In the final picture he's doing a good impression of a dog who isn't remotely interested in the bright, happy, treaty looking box.

Christmas Cats

2 Attachment(s)
I came home from work on Saturday via the mini-supermarket on my road. I left one of the bags on the side, lazy I admit, but it was full of non-perishables.

Sunday morning, my first morning of a three day break, I got up and fixed breakfast for me and the cats. I was padding about happily and only took my earplugs out when I switched on the radio. Now, I wasn’t about to leave my earplugs lying around, so I put them in the bag that was still on the counter. I figured they would be safe in there, as the boys know they are not allowed on the kitchen counters, and in fact I never leave anything of interest there for them.

Come Sunday night – Christmas Eve! – I am a little merry, and finally decide to stumble to bed around 00.30 after figuring Father Christmas isn’t going to visit me this year. I go hunting for my earplugs, pretty pleased that I have remembered where I left them.

I find one. In the far corner of the kitchen. On the floor. Covered in fluff.

My strange boys are so enamoured of wax plugs that smell like my ears that they will jump on a kitchen counter, fish through a carrier bag containing tomato soup and raisins, get out the only two items that interest them and managed not to disturb the rest of the shopping.

I applaud their skill. Well, I do today – I entered the early hours of Christmas morning swearing and cursing to an extent that would definitely have made the baby Jesus cry. Hmmmmm, perhaps that’s why Father Christmas didn’t come this year. I guess having a foul mouth puts you on the naughty list.

But two pics attached to show that they can be angels. When they are asleep.

Goodbye to a good friend

Our good pet succumbed to the Hematoma/mass growing inside. The vet said it would cost 9000 dollars. He couldn't even open him up for 200. I guess that is code for 'it's hopeless'

I won't forget you buddy- October 1996 to December 28,2006

Do not stand by my grave and weep.
I am not there. I do not sleep.
I am a thousand winds that blow.
I am a diamond glint of snow.
I am the sunlight on ripened grain.
I am the gentle autumn rain.
When you awake in the morning hush,
I am the swift, uplifting rush
Of quiet birds in circling flight.
I am the soft starshine at night.
Do not stand by my grave and cry.
I am not there . . . I did not die.
