I'm sure a lot of you have caught this already, but if you haven't you must read:

The Zen of Drinking Alone

Mmm... Dewar's...

Some outdoor writer said something like this years ago. Good whiskey is like good friends, Hang around with either one too much and things go bad.

Wings included :)

(And again, the guarantee, that I'll keep my durn clothes on *G*)

And it was, and I did, and it was good. Wings were good, stoli was good, the butts on the regulars were F.I.N.E. fine, I had my first public shot of Tequilla in years, (and stayed dressed), and had an all out raucous good time.

This will be a friday tradition - visiting different bars however, till we find a 'home'.....

Anyone in the HBG area is welcome. :)

Always seemed kinda natural to me, you drink alone and dont have anyone to fight with. It never did seem to me to be the universal sign of impending peril, just a lot more enjoyable.

Funny mag there Kitsune. Worth hitting while I drink alone.

Have you ever been setting at picnic table & some sob drives up & ask "hey got an extra beer?" Isn't that kinda like extra money?

Mrs. Dallas had to head down to Wilmington for a concert. She planned to stop at Total Wine for, umm, supplies, and I gave her a couple items I wanted. It turned out that, gosh darn, the large sizes were the best deal. (2 liter Pepsi provided for scale; small child provided just because he wanted to be in the picture.)

You rotten son-of-a-bitch...letting your child drink! Shame on you!

elSicomoro 11-22-2004 10:04 PM

And now, back to your regularly scheduled thread...

I picked up my yearly bottle of Penn Dutch Egg Nog on Friday. I think it needs more egg nog though...has too much of a liquor taste.

I think he's actually taunting the young one. Those seals are intact.

Loss of yardage on the possibility of the curtain monkey getting Pepsi, though.

SteveDallas 11-23-2004 08:55 AM

Good eye, wolf. (I will say, however, that the seals are now broken.) Though if he doesn't start going to sleep before 11 I may try a bit of the booze on him. ;)

My family (Irish, of course) held that whiskey was the cure for nearly any ill a baby presented with ... colic, crankyness, general irritability, and especially teething. Just put a wee bit on your finger and rub it on their gums.

My Irish Mom used to give us blackberry brandy. One time the pediatrician asked if she really thought it was doing any good. She said she was sleeping better. :D

breakingnews 11-23-2004 02:09 PM

I was sick as hell last Friday - I left work 30 minutes early and took a nap from about 5:30 until 11 pm. I felt slightly better when I woke up - but I was absolutely rockin' and rollin' around 1 am after having five vodka-tonics and three shots of jaeger.

And whaddya know, I woke up and felt like a hundred bucks.

So, from here on out, the Beer Doctor is in. :)
