Shaun of the Dead is in my Top 5 - I found out about it while it was still being filmed so the build-up for me was immense. It would have shaken my faith in the world in general if I hadn't enjoyed it. (Now I just have to hope Hot Fuzz lives up to my expectations)

Happy Monkey mentioned the Martin Freeman cameo - in that line-up you see some of the cream of British comedy walking past. Am hoping for similar in January :)

One of the funniest reviews I read on the US Amazon site was someone who stopped watching it because the British accents were too annoying. Kept me going all afternoon the fact that you would get a British film out and only then consider your prejudices...? Anyway.

I'll see Dodgeball one day because a reviewer with similar tastes to me enjoyed it. Anchorman, not so interested.

Anchorman was not very good. Ferrel was great in Old School and Elf, but hasn't been in anything good since. IMHO.

I have to disagree. There were some awesomely funny scenes in Anchorman. Jack Black with the dog on the bridge. The gang fight between the newsteams. "Afternoon delight". Wil Ferrel's enormous hard-on. Jazz Flute. "I pooped a hammer". The cologne scene:

My God. What is that smell? Oh!

That's the smell
of desire, milady.

God, no, it smells like... like a used diaper
filled with Indian food.

Desire smells like that
to some people.

What is that? Smells like a turd covered in burnt hair!

It smells like Bigfoot's dick!
Yeah, lot's of funny stuff....

I don't like Ferrell, Sandler, or that Something About Mary movie (and Cameron Diaz sucks.) Slapstick doesn't do much for me, but when done well I enjoy it --like Dumb and Dumber, Austin Powers, etc.

The main guy in Shaun of the Dead was in one of my all time favourite comedy shows: Spaced.
