This is one of my favorite books ever. Martin Gardner provides an incredible amount of context for rhe Alice books. This is how I read them when I was a tot, and the normal editions look naked to me.

HM - very cool. I've bookmarked it so I'll remember to pick up a copy later.

I reread Alice every couple of years ago. I consider it a must-read for software engineers.

Finally a school official with some sense.

Quote:

Wilmington, North Carolina-AP -- The parents of a North Carolina first-grader are fuming over a book their daughter brought home from her school library.

It's a children's story about a prince -- whose true love is another prince.

It's called "King and King," and it's about a character named Prince Bertie falling for a character named Prince Lee. The book ends with them marrying and sharing a kiss.

Michael Hartsell of Wilmington says he was "flabbergasted." He says his child is "not old enough to understand something like that." The Hartsells say they're keeping the book until they get assurances it won't be circulated.

The publisher's Web site lists the books as intended for readers age six and up. The school librarian says the book has been on the school's shelves since early last year. And the principal says what may be considered "inappropriate" to one family may be "totally acceptable" to another.

I have been looking for those stuffies. I found Max, and my daughter wont let it go now. Just to let everyone know, I will be off line in about 3 days heading home. We leave Iraq real soon. I hope to see you all again when I get back to the states. I found a hardcover book of were the wild things are on e-bay. I hope my daughter loves it as much as I did when I was a child.

What's amusing, sad, and possibly alarming, is that people actually think this is likely to happen. It wouldn't really surprise a lot of us to read that something like this happens. It's become normal, or at least not surprising. And that in itself is quite sad. Especially for a country that supposedly pride's itself on freedom and the like.

Quzah.

Thanks Wolf. But Q... you are right, now and days things this rediculas can happen.....scary isnt it. But all in all, we should pass on our childhood joys to our children. But that is my oppinion.

Safe journey home!
