i paid $1.59 for regular unl. thursday here in houston but i've seen it as high as $1.70 on the interstate between here and san antonio. i remember a few years back i was flying an angel flight and had to pay $3.02 (not a typo!:eek: ) for 100LL av-gas! talk about pucker factor! i bought just enough to get us back to houston!

I'm paying $1.99 for premium unleaded here in Seattle.

Still $1.839 here, but I only paid $1.609 Monday at an Exxon in Perryville, MD (40 miles NE of Baltimore).

$1.84 in 2003 is same as $0.35 in 1968, $0.24 in 1948, and $0.17 in 1930. IOW price of gasoline has only returned to normal price levels.

At $1.84 in 2003, the price of gas in 1974 would be $0.49 per gallon. Back then it was about $0.65 per gallon. In 1977, the same 2003 $1.84 was $0.61 in 1977. But gasoline then was about $1.00 per gallon! IOW price of gas is only high if one takes an emotional position. Price of gasoline has simply returned to normal prices. If those prices are too high, then what are you driving? Gasoline is still quite cheap.

I see your logic, but if the rest of the country is paying $.30 to $.60 less per gallon than I am, I'm bitchin' about it. CA is gettin' screwed, period. How does $2.19/gal in 2003 fit in your comparison chart?

There is no doubt that a state the exports oil should not be paying such high prices. But then I do wonder since CA did not vote for George Jr and since CA is targeted to become a Republican stronghold, if that is not encouraged or intentional.

Look. CA got screwed intentionally by big energy traders such as Enron, Duke Energy, and other Houston based energy trading companies. Who is going to jail for this? No one is to even be prosecuted by this George Jr admininstration. Only peope like Martha Stewart who did not contribute. CA got screwed by illegal trading and no one is even prosecuted? Remember, this president is an MBA and is supported by right wing extremists. That means he cannot be trusted. One must question why all energy now costs so much more in CA. And why those caught holding prices higher for $billion personal gain (in some cases) do not even go to court!

No wonder FirstEnergy almost got their nuclear power plant not shut down - by just contributing $millions to the Replublican party. By peronsally running fund raisers for Cheney and George Jr. We reasonably suspect that those bribes were keeping a nuclear reactor operating that was potenially another Three Mile Island. CA has a legitamite complaint about their gas prices. And good reasons to suspect collusion.

In Portland Oregon - North of Cali - we are paying anywhere from $1.87 (cheapie gas station) to $2.01 per gallon for regular. I drive a little 10 gallon neon - great gas mileage. I almost had kittens when to fill my gas tank it cost $19.75. (Normally $10-11 and I'm full.)
