That's my gaming rig connected to the tv through an hdmi cable. Wireless mouse and keyboard. I can sit across the room on the couch, flip to that input, and browse the web.

I have not yet visited pornhub....

OK,

So, Friday night I went and got a TV stand. It took me and a buddy 4 hours to assemble. Then Saturday night, Amanda and I hooked up the new Sony receiver and wired the surround sound system. I still need a sub woofer. But Here's the set up in the daylight:

My mom came over to see the place for the first time on Sunday, and we watched the Superbowl on the new tele. After they left I installed that internal bluray reader/writer that is sitting there next to the fireplace (in the computer...remember when I built that Gaming computer?) . That will run through the computer's DVi cable into the receiver and from there into the TV.

I just need to go get a cool bluray to watch. I think I will start with Avatar.

Clodfobble 02-04-2013 11:40 PM

Dude. Avengers, not Avatar.

glatt 02-05-2013 07:18 AM

True dat. Emma Peel is teh awesome.

Clodfobble 02-05-2013 07:33 AM

Ha! I meant the new one, directed by Joss Whedon. But the old one is probably pretty good too. [/youngun]

;)
Yeah. I knew what you meant. The Avengers was an old black and white British tv show. It was fun, and Emma Peel really was hot, but it's nothing special to watch on a kick-ass tv on bluray.

Y'know...we think today we're the shiznet of genre and genre busting television, but some of the stuff they were doing back then was excellent quirk.

I got the special collectors edition of avatar..... cuz it was all they had.... and WOW. The part in the beginning where the space ships are heading to Pandora.... looked 3D. Looked REAL.

I also picked up Fight Club cuz it was only $10, Gladiator cuz it was only $8.98, and an aquarium thing

where you can put it in and it turns your tv into a fishtank for an hour and a half. I thought that would be cool to have on while playing a game, or something in that room.

jimhelm 02-05-2013 08:22 AM

hmmm... that company has a fireplace bluray..... with or without music and with the crackling fire only... of course there is a 20 minute version of it on youtube..... so I don't really need to buy that... I don't need my fire in HD. my fish, yes... but not my fire.

here's the channel on youtube.

clouds going by would be cool.... ocean waves, also cool.... I think I will make a playlist.

Jim - did you get a subwoofer yet?

jimhelm 02-05-2013 05:30 PM

No, not yet. I think I saw one at goodwill last week. It might not be right kind though

Pete Zicato 02-05-2013 06:00 PM

What are you looking for?

jimhelm 02-05-2013 08:02 PM

I need a powered sub.... The 3 that I have for computers hook up with a 3.5 mm wire. This receiver has a black outlet that looks like a component cable hookup. Don't want to spend a lot. All of the ones at best buy are $150+

Pete Zicato 02-07-2013 08:59 AM

Hmm. Well I've got a subwoofer that I was planning to put on Craigs list. It's an 8" downfiring Yamaha. The problem is that shipping would make it not much of a bargain for you.

Check your local Craigs list for a Yamaha YST-SW215. It's great for small to mid-size rooms.
