If the methods for building the pyramids were useful or applicable to real life needs, rather than just grandiose projects, they would have been applied and carried down as tribal knowledge. They may very well have, we don't know, but it doesn't matter because we have better ways of building pyramids today.

The show makes the point that the "whole lotta labor" theory is pretty weak; there are still structures that would have been physically impossible without some kind of advanced systems to aid them. Then there's the "why" part of it.
